Saudi Arabia was under the wing of America always pumped up with weapons, and looked what happened, the next will be Taiwan after they can't effort to buy🎉anymore USA weapons and once America shifts all the chip plants to the USA, Taiwan will be just like Saudi Arabia getting rid off the dollar. Most of those chip workers will detect too China sooner than expected.

Fake news alert: Saudi Arabia is not going to stop selling oil in US dollars (USD), and they're not ending any petrodollar pact. In fact, there is no petrodollar pact, secret or otherwise. So, there's nothing to renew (or not renew). Nor is there any “paradigm shift” shift in global finance.

You forgot the main possibility, that is 50 years ago USA was KSA’s biggest customer of their oil. Fast forward to today, China now is the biggest buyer of KSA’s oil. So why would KSA, still price their oil based on USD if their no.1 customer is not USA??

USA has gotten its self in a pickle it seems… 80s 90s China was full of rice Paddie’s with men tilling the land with rolled up pants and straw wide triangular straw hats… now they’rea super power that can reek havoc on any country thanks to the American Business man that thought the can increase their profits buy building their businesses in China and replacing American
jobs in particular manufacturing. It’s been done before with Taiwan,
Mexico, Philippines, Japan and so on… but China did a major flip of the script; with Chinas 1.43 billion people vs USA 300 million people, its become a power house with sheer numbers alone (imho) this is what and what’s happening. Thanks American businessmen.😢 also if your sleeping with the enemy never underestimate their intentions , 101.

As a Chinese, to be honest, over the past 8000 years (The latest archeological evidence shows that before the Xia Dynasty, the Yu Dynasty already had exquisite ceramics and initial Chinese characters, as well as exquisite bamboo frames for radioactivity detection, exactly the same as today.) The world has been at the top of the world, 200 years of humiliation, and the world has probably forgotten. The Chinese will bring peace and development to the world, just as the Tang Dynasty did, and make a great contribution to world civilization. Apart from football, we have confidence in the future. First, the Jews at the forefront of the class and the bloodsuckers. In the future, the dollar will fall like the Soviet ruble. That is the price the dollar paid for plundering the world. Now it is time to pay back. The world should be wary of Trump's readiness to use Bitcoin instead of dollars.

This petrodollar agreement started during the Oil crisis of the 1970s.. In the same period, the powerful countries G7 was formed and made the US the sole negotiator for crude oil exports from the Middle East... The USA has shifted its global standing on idealism and begun to approach the monarch of the Middle East.. The Saudi Aramco we know today was an affiliate of Standard Oil company then...It is simple you sell oil in dollars in return we provide infrastructure and security.. Over the years, the US started pumping out more oil from their land itself making their import stagnate on the other hand Asian giants who don`t have their oil resources need to depend on Saudi more and the renewable policy of the West also impacted the oil trade which made Saudi to diversify its customers... At the same time Now Saudi Aramco is taken over by the Saudi govt...

I do not think this is so dire because in the International Monetary System (IMS) there is/was already a wide degree of convertibility within the Exchange Rate Mechanism (ERM). There are however wider implications for the capital markets, and Saudi Arabia (SA) will have more direct opportunities in the world. Not only SA but also other GCC nations.

Trump is going to Win. Trump is very aggressive. Saudi knows it. Saudi might sign the deal after Trump wins to avoid consequences.

If the US government can print dollars at will, then why does it have to sell bonds to borrow dollars from investors?

Price of oil is still be calculated based on USD, and other countries will be paying based on conversion rate, thus dollar is still continuing to enjoy its status.

Hi Amit, I noticed some places rebutted the claim that there is indeed an agreement between Saudi and America to use dollars in the petroleum trade exclusively. Where can I find evidence that such agreement was made?

Their was no agreement for SA to sell in dollars. They can sell in whatever currency they want the deal was to invest their profits in the US in exchange for protection and weapons which both sides benefited from.

The US dollar had replaced the British pound sterling as the predominant global reserve currency in the 1920s; more than 20 years before Bretton Woods.

There is no downside to the Saudi’s decision to leave the petrodollar & here’s why. They don’t have to use anyone’s currency. They can use whatever currency they want so fluctuations won’t really affect them. Just because, for example, they’d be trading with let’s say China they’d expect the Yuan as payment but if they trading with a country like Mongolia they don’t have to ask for whatever cure is in Mongolia they’d simply still ask for the Yuan. They can ask for whatever currency they want from whoever they want whenever they want.
