Wow I am speechless watching you guys eating and describing the crispy soft egg musu bay and the melt in your mouth pork belly with ginger shoyu sauce. Speechless!

I'm so excited. My husband and I are going to Oahu next week. This is a HUGE splurge for us. My husband might focus on relaxing on the beach but I am a foodie and LOVE trying new foods. You guys make everything sound delicious. I hope I can convince my husband to try some of these foods you show here.
I spent few years of my boyhood in Hanalei, Kauai and grew up on spam. If there is a disaster the first thing I'm grabbing is my cans of Spam. I can make a meal out of Spam, scrabbled eggs and steamed rice.

I always go to Chun Wah when I’m on Oahu! The baked Manapua is the best and yes! you must have it with pork hash! The selection of Manapua is amazing!

We started making musubi a few years ago. Probably cause one of our dear friends would make Spam Sushi on occasion. We don't have an official musubi maker, we use a half can of Spam and plastic wrap. I am enjoying your videos keep up the good work!

In Singapore, we have this shave ice too - ours have some red beans, corn n green jelly in e centre. Some ppl have condensed milk poured over it too. Very refreshing on a hot day.

I had a friend who said she didn't have a Manapua Man when she grew up in MIlilani. I was born and raided in Kaneohe and we had a Manapua Man. The noodles from the Manapua Man was always the best. Don't forget the rice cake and that 7 layer rice cake with the brown top layer. I've been going to Waiola's since the 70s because my church was a block away.

The both of u need to check out Ohana Drive In in Ewa Beach for their Honey Garlic Chicken. I have been buying that chicken for my daughter since my daughter were in the 7th grade n now she’s 29 years old n she still love going to get the chicken. Try it n it’ll broke ur mouth

Iyasume is great they use Japanese RICE! :) Seoul Mix(next to Iyasume) is pretty good too! Waiola my favorite shave ice(super soft NOT crunchy)! YES Ice Cream & Mochi!!

Spam be rough on the complexion. In fact back in the day plate lunch stands and bad for the heart meals were the norm. I used to love Flamingo cafe, but I imagine it's gone by now? Lots of cheap cafeterias were scattered about Honolulu in the 60's. That also is most likely gone with the wind.
My Mom actually used work at the old Flamingo's back in the day! Most of them are gone now... 😰
@@AmandaFelixEats I was in Honolulu from '67 to'70. I worked at the women's shoe parlor at Liberty House. I was 19 years old at the time; 72 now. We salesmen/ladies used to go to the Flamingo for dinner. Great food at reasonable prices. Loved the Mahi fish dinner. Miss Hawaii very much and hope to return some day. Luv your blog and have discovered things on the island I didn't even know existed. Thanx for your hard work and showing us around. Sincerely; James. Have you ever had a musubi (onigiri) wıth an umi boshi in the mıddle and no nori? This was my favorite, when I lived in Japan.

Amazing! And we split a mini and still have food left over. And it got super busy right after us. Best udon and ginger rice
Just an FYI, no mo crispy gau gee on da mainland. It's a Hawaii thing only, just like meat jun. And another thing, the mainland doesn't have shave or shaved ice, it's a snow cone. Way too crunchy because the ice isn't finely shaved like in Hawaii or Japan.
