Cool hair Yvonne!!! Yet another awesome video 🤗 Ayyyeee, you guys got sponsored again! That Korean chix brought me back to the days when I was in South Korea for a summer. On to watch the next video now 😁
I’ve been getting all of my friends and family to watch your videos. I tout you as the best Hawaii food guides! They come back from vacation raving about your recommendations! Even better than family and friends recommendations! And who gets the credit for finding you guys…me! So thanks for the great reviews!
Love your cheap eats video! Enjoy it and very fun. As an ABC “American Born Chinese” asian kid growing up that beef stew is an OG dish. Love seeing Da Von! She is fun. Can’t wait until the next video.
Fearless Yvonne! I love your hair! You tell Amanda and Felix to make you a regular and call it Yvonne Amanda and Felix Eats! But A comes before Y so maybe Amanda Yvonne and Felix Eats! The chicken looked really good too!
Always love it when Yvonne's along. Take care at school! Such OG grindz at Meg's. Soul Chicken and Hana Tea looked so ono. The stew my dad made was a mix of tomato and curry.
Can't wait to try Meg's when my husband and I go visit in October, If all goes well with Covid. Miss Von just love to listening to you ! You three are great! Thank you for all you do! Love your bloopers!
Meg’s, stick to da Katsu! Gonna try da new chicken place. Always look forward to your videos. The Vonn gets right to da point! Awesome job. Really appreciate you guys! Da mega foodies! Go local! Aloha 😎🤙🏾

Steamed fish is easy to make! I make the ginger and onion steamed fish or the black bean steam fish. We don’t have opakapaka which is great for steaming but our California calico bass or kelp bass is outstanding. You guys should try making it at home! Whole fish or filllets give different dining experiences. The only down side is putting the hot oil on the fish after steaming. The oil splatters everywhere. Tough to keep the kitchen clean!you should try!
Good to see the side view of the Chicken Katsu Moist! Will go back. Used to order Veal Cutlet, Love those Patties. in the past they used to serve it like Beef Cutlet So Ono! Poor Grace's Drive inn held the crown for years as the best Chicken Katsu. Not sure if they're around anymore. The original location on the Corner of Alakea and Beretania was a good Grace's. Thanks for your honesty Von, i look forward to your no hold punches reviews. Amanda, Felix keep it coming!
This was a fun video hahahaha….lots of food and street noise traffic 😆😆🤪🤪. What’s up The Vonne 🤙🏽. All in all great video…thank you!…you all take care and stay safe.
Aloha you guys ! Awesome to hear your input "Da Von " I love Local Talk ! Nostalgic Foods at Meg's Drive Inn Onolicious ! Korean Eats my Favorite...you know they double fry their chicken! I love the wingets !!! Hana Tea yummy goodness ! Funny Bloopers !
Man, making me miss Meg’s. Loved their hamburger steak with gravy all over. Steamed fish was mean too. Originally was Opakapaka but later was just “fish”
Kalihi is my hood 🗿 nuuanu okazuya is one of my favorites downtown along with mei sum dim sum as well heading that side from kalihi. Lets get it!! Deep insights from YVonne as always!! Edit: my favorite Kalihi spot is Gulick delicatessen. If you go when they are about to close, they load the to go box up heavy with extra portions. But they run out of a lot by then. Either way its my classic go to in kalihi 🙏🤙 Got skillshare sponsership!? Yall straight ballin already! Stay up!!
For me, best katsu on the island, hands down, is Tamafujii. I could eat there all day long, every day. I have to head down to Costco later today so I'll check out that Chicken place since it is just down Dillingham. (And I prefer drumlets to wings.) And, nice hair Vons! :-) I like the two-tone color. The class I teach starts in another week so I'm crazy busy prepping my lectures, so I sympathize with your impending busy-ness. You got this!
If you do try it, we hope you enjoy it! And yes! Tamafuji is the best for japanese pork katsu! We've been wanting to go back but the long wait always discourages us! We had no idea you do teaching too! Wow🥳 The vons been so busy, especially with all the new regulations😰
Hi Amanda and Felix. Just got back from the island and I recommend you trying J Dolans pepperoni pizza and wings and aloha kitchen. They’re Kalua pork eggs Benedict is delicious.
Gimmee that mac salad, beef stew and hamburger steak. And yeah more gravy all ova'! Local Hawaiian grindz are so ono. Y'all represent and are such great ambassadors for local businesses. On another note. Today I heard that Hawaii is scaling back with restrictions once again due to covid. Local businesses need the tourist and local dollars more than ever to stay alive. While I can't be there this year, my mother and both sisters will be in september and they support local kine businesses. Then again they are also addicts to ABC stores. Love y'all. Mahalo!
As a Kaneohe local you guys gotta do a 96744 video. My top in Ktown is Masa & Joyce, Gotz Grindz, Megumi Okazuya, Kalawe Cafe, and El Mariachi. You got Hoomaluhia Botanical Garden to eat the food at, also for the sick background!
It’s funny to me that you guys say “Drive Ins” to what I know as DINER, for me Drive In is an open air cinema (huge parking like area and at the front there is a huge screen where movies are projected on, they give you radio station so you can here the sound of the movie in your car sound system) the Drive In also has a commissary area and restrooms. Just wanted to share that with you guys 😊. Thank you for taking is along on your “foodie rounds” 😊
Not even waiting to watch the video to comment about Megs. Huge portions and the old- fashioned hamburgers with the infamous mayo mustard sauce. Thanks for showcasing this old time drive inn. Surprised it wasn't busier.
WOW...Brings back alot of Memories!..didnt know they still around..My sister worked there in the mid 80's and i used to go there and eat for free lol...hamburger steak was my favorite, but i like katsu from diners down the street then...Thank you so much for your time for showing us all these great places that are still around!...Left kalihi almost 30yrs ago!..c/o1990 Farrington Governors!..Cheeehooo!..
Diner's chicken katsu was the bestest! Katsu with a strawberry soda was the default Diner's order. Remember when there was a Diner's on Keeamoku where Walmart is now. God I am old 🙂.
Oh My Goodness!!! Ms. Leeeeeee! Ms. Le was my English teacher this year, this is so surprising to catch her on a TH-cam video. You guys forgot to include Diners, a local and cheap place.
Wonder if Soul Chicken put their place there to compete against Wing Stop that is nearby across the Kapalama Canal in the Kapalama Shopping Center? First went Meg's in '68 after school, first taste of goodie-goodie sherbets.. like 15 cents for their cup at that time ! They do have a lot of local plate lunch faves there. Those benches and seats outside.. must have been there since the beginning from what I remember 🤙
Great video again! I heard about Meg's but have never been there. Those dishes look really ono. Just an FYI on the mainland beef stew. I've tried a few and it doesn't compare to Hawaii style. Many of them are too sweet, so I gave up and just make my own.
Awww … big miss on Soul Chicken! Went there at noon today … nobody was in line - red flag! Ordered what you ordered and ate at one of the two little tables on the side after waiting 15 minutes for the order to be ready. The sweet & spicy boneless chicken came lukewarm and the honey wings was just warm. All the seasoning was in the fried batter and sauce, the chicken meat was very bland and not juicy. The fried seaweed rolls had a strong black pepper taste. Regardless, keep up the good eats … love y’all and da Von, too ❤️
I love old school plate lunches, but I did think you underordered at the first place. I could have eaten all of those plates by myself, I'm glad you got those chicken pieces. They looked really good, but I would have wanted some fries to go with them. I love Chicken Katsu, it has always been one of my go tos. Although now I'm doing curry instead of brown gravy.Mahalo and Aloha.
@@AmandaFelixEats my nephew took me to Soul Chicken & also got milk tea yesterday! It was really ono! Thanks for sharing! I’m visiting from Vegas for a month! Haven’t been home in 6 years so I’m excited to try as many places on your videos! 😋💜
It’s Swai fish. [Steamed fish], you’ll need: * 2 scallions * fresh ginger, about 2 tablespoons julienned * 1 small bunch of cilantro * 1 ½ tablespoons soy sauce * 1/8 teaspoon salt * 1/8 teaspoon sugar * 2 tablespoons water * 1 filet of Swai fish Or Sea bass * 2 tablespoons Peanut oil Julienne the scallion and ginger and set aside. Give the cilantro a rough chop and set that aside as well. Combine the soy sauce, salt, sugar and water into a small bowl and mix well. Set that aside. Carefully lay your fish out onto a heatproof plate…
Cant wait to go back to the island with my wife and newborn. Last time we hit up all your recommendations and they never missed! So fire. Also, update it to Amanda, Felix and Yvonne Eats! We love all the videos when all you are together lol
Had to try Soul Chicken on Saturday after seeing this. Chicken is awesome! It's everything you said. Do you guys tell the workers you are vlogging? The cashier, a young Korean girl, was mentioning how they just started recently, and I said I found them through your vlog, "Amanda and Felix Eats." Her reply was, "Oh, are they famous?" I explained how they were just here on Thursday and sat where I was waiting for my order. She says she didn't notice.

They are worth checking out! 🤙
It’s Swai fish.
[Steamed fish],
you’ll need:
* 2 scallions
* fresh ginger, about 2 tablespoons julienned
* 1 small bunch of cilantro
* 1 ½ tablespoons soy sauce
* 1/8 teaspoon salt
* 1/8 teaspoon sugar
* 2 tablespoons water
* 1 filet of Swai fish Or Sea bass
* 2 tablespoons Peanut oil
Julienne the scallion and ginger and set aside. Give the cilantro a rough chop and set that aside as well.
Combine the soy sauce, salt, sugar and water
into a small bowl and mix well. Set that aside.
Carefully lay your fish out onto a heatproof plate…
Mahalo for the recipe and cooking instructions Jean! We gotta try it! 🤙
You’re Welcome!
Cant wait to go back to the island with my wife and newborn. Last time we hit up all your recommendations and they never missed! So fire. Also, update it to Amanda, Felix and Yvonne Eats! We love all the videos when all you are together lol
So glad to hear you enjoyed our recommendations on your last trip! Mahalo for watching and supporting Aaron! 🤙🏼
My Chicken Katsu place is Kalihi Bar-B-Q. Love their sauce. (L&L - get a better sauce like Kalihi BBQ or Graces)
We have kalihi bar b q on our to do list! Glad to hear that’s your fave!
Everything looked great! Hawaiian beef stew has more tomato. Mainland beef stew may or may not have tomato.
Mahalo for watching and supporting Angie! 🤙🏼 That definitely clears it up! I guess we've only had local beef stew, oh and vietnamese beef stew!😆
