Hula Dogs looked and sounded good! I wonder if they would double up on the dogs to counterbalance the amount of bread (2 dogs instead of one). We have hot dogs they wrap in bacon here in AZ. The grilled cheeses looked okay, but it was hard for you guys dealing with the upset woman in the background. I bet the cheese and bacon one is the best. Lastly, the drinks looked so refreshing. You can’t beat ono drinks and kamaina discounts. Another yummy and adventurous outing in Waikiki. Mahalo foodie Ohana! 🤙🏽🧋🌭🧀🌴🌺

It’s always nice to see that you guys go on an actual foodie adventure. Never knew it was called a food crawl also 😄 Hula dogs reminds me of Puka Dog on Kauai. You’ll have to try & compare them! The Aloha Melt food looked like heaven to me 😋 I love my cheese. That lady though, you can always always find the oddest people in that town 😬 I hope she didn’t ruin your guys eating experience 😅 They shoulda kicked her out! Aloha Amanda & Felix. I love Hula Dog, actually, I tried Puka Dog (the original) in Kauai first years ago, I always get the veggie dog, mild, lilikoi mustard and coconut relish, yummy!!! We got this on our recent trip to Oahu too.
They were here, too, because that's where Anthony Bourdain went! They were in the old International Marketplace on the Kuhio Avenue side before it went all upscale. I believe it was called Puka Dog. I guess they just had a name change, maybe to accommodate tourists?

@@spang9782 from what I've heard, the couple that started Puka Dog in Kauai got divorced, so one kept Puka Dog as the name and the other uses Hula Dog as the name. I don't remember ever seeing Puka Dog in Oahu, only Kauai, but I could be wrong
@@paulafriedmanalohafrommaryland Ahhh, so that's the story! So I went to look it up and found that it was originally called Puka Dog on Kuhio at the International Marketplace back entrance. Then she had to change it. I know it was Puka Dog from this video: th-cam.com/video/FmP6-J1xOL0/w-d-xo.html and, when my son's baseball team did a fundraiser with them at Bishop Museum years ago, and all of us "volunteers" got a free Puka Dog.
The Hot Dogs are huge, but the idea with putting the Wiener/Polish in a hole is an old Street food of Poland and GDR... (yes the former Eastern part of Germany, there it was called "Kettwurst"), but this different Hawaiian bread and types of HD there are of course unique. I had to share one of these for sure 😅❤️

I've eaten at Puka Dogs on Kauai (which was the original shop before the owners divorced), and it was pretty yummy. That toasted cheese sandwich, though! And that tomato bisque! Looks pretty awesome. Will have to try it out, as soon as I figure out the best way to hit Waikiki. Thanks for taking us on this food crawl, and thanks to your friends for sharing their experiences too! 🤤👍

I used to have a Hula Dog (or was it Puka Dog?) now and then when they were at the old Ward Warehouse (which was sadly torn down in 2017), but I donʻt remember the buns being that big. Maybe the Hawaiian sweet bread is something relatively new. They had that Anthony Bourdain sign up for a long time, so he must have eaten there (in Waikiki?) many years before on the "No Reservations" show.
We miss the old ward warehouse! 😢
@@AmandaFelixEats I was going to say, "Sadly, Ward Warehouse was torn down to make way for another Kaka'ako condo," but I didn't want to offend you guys. 🤐 I'm just not a fan of the development and urban atmosphere in Waikiki and the new Kaka'ako (even if there are more places to eat). 🤨
My wife and I went to Aloha Melts last May and loved it. We're headed back this May and can't wait!
FYI, Felix....Whenever I go out & need to take along my camera gear, Always pack camera equipment in separate bag & Always keep my DJI OA3 in my sling bag, which is where I keep my personal effects in--Justa suggestion!.....I feel for the employees in WKK eateries coz they ALWAYS have to put up w/customers, like the Aloha Melt lady.....Myself, used to work in casual dining restaurants >12yrs, thankfully, away from the circus that is WKK, so didn't have to contend much w/disruptive, loud & unruly customers......Have never been to Hula Dogs/Aloha Melt but Dogs kinda piqued my taste buds curiosity!-lol....Keep the videos coming!

I’ve heard of Hula Dogs but I’ve only had Puka Dogs, Crater Dogs, and Sumo Dogs. First I had was Crater Dogs. So far all three tasted the same but they’re so delicious! I usually get mine with Lilikoi butter and jalapeño mustard🤤

I have a parking permit on my front bumper Kia Sportage. I can park in any yellow zone and Waikiki has a yellow zone on every street, busy in the early mornings so lots of parking. Don't tell everybody. I live in Waikiki.

Aloha, I have been hitting that spot for a few nights in a row, but haven't tried the hula dog. After seeing your video, I may give it a go before heading back to the mainland. The nearby Tori Ton yakitori, Blue Ocean plate meals, and Maguro Bros pokes are pretty good. Do you have any video on the huli huli chicken and/or butter garlic shrimps in the north shore? They are my favorite food so far.

Both of your hot dog choices sounded good, but it did look like too much bread (buns). We went to Hank's Haute Dogs many years ago, enjoyed it, but it was pretty expensive. At the time, it was a novelty.

I was actually there about 3 weeks ago. Dogs are good, very filling. I like the variety you can choose from. We had the lilikoi lemonade also.

That Hula Dog that Felix had seems the most interesting. Here on Maui we have Sumo Dogs with a similar style of hot dog. Early on they used to have sides like Kim Chee and Mac Salad. I love the concept but that's a lot of bread on yours. Mahalo and Aloha.

Didn’t know Hula Dog was located over there now! Tried them when they were located on the north shore when they were called Puka Dog. They toast it only on the inside, hence the puka 😂 Love the video! Keep up the great work!🤙🏻

Pro tip guys, when you forget to shake your drink after punching the straw into the top, just push the straw down to the bottom and blow short bubbles into the straw to stir up the bottom, the air will rise to the top causing the drink to stir via the air bubbles as it rises from the bottom to the top!😀🤙

You guys need to do a video at La Cucina. IMO, this is the best Italian in Hawaii. Me and my wife goes multiple times a year. Their Osso Buco is awesome but needs to be pre-ordered.
