I had same problem with my same bike its different wiring ,what i did was cut the wire about half way down the new throttle and strip the wires and wire them to different colours, its trial and error but eventually you will fond the right combination and it's work ,it did for me
Thanks for putting this on. Reminds me of some of my bike accessory adventures. Might borrow a working throttle from one of your other bikes. Might try using same brand of bike , if you have one.
Hey good idea. Someone else commented that there are two different wire setups and perhaps I got the wrong one. I have another one on order to try. But I may grab one from another bike too.
Hey Bro, You know I've watched this video a few times now and I think it would work if you removed some of the black from the twist throttle to fit the connection. The fact that it did run by itself shows that it was making connections. This interests me coz I want to do the same to my e-bike but I'm too afraid to do that kind of operation to my e-bike. Thank you for making this video 😎
What I have learned is that there are two different pin configurations. Most throttles I have found all have the same, or they don't say what it is. The one I tried was the wrong one. So I purchased a couple more that didn't show the pin configuration in hopes that one of them will be what I need.
Rather than using soap as a lubricant, try rubbing alcohol. It's slippery, but when it evaporates it doesn't slip any more. Far better than soap. I used to work in a hospital, and did this often to get tubing to attach to a fitting and you wanted it to stay put. Give it a try.
I switched from a thumb throttle to twist throttle, and I had to switch the wires around the the gray and the red one I had to switch not the black one
Thanks Tim, I am hearing that there are two different sequences. Sounds like I need to do the same thing because I can't find one that is reversed. So now i Just need to figure out how to access the wires on the plug without breaking it. Is it possible?
I don't understand why they put the thumb throttle on the left side and why a thumb throttle even is standard instead of a twist throttle. Makes no sense.
Richard, Amazon sells two different ones that are wired differently, they show a picture of the wiring wish I could post a picture on here, order both of them return the one you don’t need that’s what I do. But I charge out twist throttle’s for thumb throttle‘s, so if you lived closer I have plenty
Thanks, I have another one on order, not sure if its much different. I was wondering if it was defective or just a compatibility issue. Thanks! I'll look for the other ones.
The only ones I am seeing is Speed, then battery negative and then battery positive. Which is what I have. Grab my email address from the "about" tab and send me link if you can find one you think it I need. Thanks for the help.
@@EbikeReviews can’t find your email on about page I’m probably being dumb, I tried to send you my email but TH-cam may have deleted it. So I’m having a hard job finding the two different ones also, I can find it in thumb throttles though the negative and the signal wire reverse

@@EbikeReviews I cut mine and then split the ends and put them back together soldered them together
What tool are you using to unscrew the locks on the handle bars?
Hey did u ever figure it out? i tried using my old half twist on my new ebike and it had the same problem.
I hate when the plan doesn't come together. Try again, I'm sure you will get it.
I wish you were my neighbor
If you have a big empty garage, I wish you were mine also :-)

I don't know either, some people like it.
Wires are not compatible. Run a new line from twist throttle to controller and it should work.

@@EbikeReviews Found it, I sent you the reason I couldn’t find it.
wiring on the twist throttle is wrong
The wiring is wrong pins are reversed
exactly. The controller is set up for right handed throttle which is probably reverse in the hall signal or wiring.
Bummer
