Word of caution on buying a replacement throttle. I just saw some throttles for sale online, claiming they were compatible with ebikes. But a short line in small font buried way down the page lists a spec that says the Hall sensor signal varies from 0.8V to 2.4V However, 2.4V is *not* a sufficiently high-end Hall sensor voltage for most ebikes. Also, most people probably would either not see the 0.8V-2.4V spec and/or many people would not even know what it means and would ignore it assuming it was normal. Unsurprisingly, there were many reviews from buyers that were disappointed the throttle didn't work after they installed it. From what I could tell the sellers didn't seem to care that this was a major issue and likely aren't going to change their web pages to make it more obvious or provide a warning about this lower than required Hall sensor voltage output for ebikes. With a simple change to the web page, the sellers could save a lot of customers the frustration and grief of spending time and money on trying to repair or build their ebikes using these ultimately unusable throttles.
It's not really the seller's fault. What you are describing is someone unfamiliar with how ebikes work, doing repairs on a commercially produced bike. Anyone who has built their own will either know what range is required by the controller, or will be programmable and the throttle will work fine. If you buy a conversion kit SAVE THE DOCS THAT COME WITH IT. It's often nearly impossible to get ALL of the original specs, as the seller is typically bundling compatible components from multiple vendors, and often doesn't keep track of spec changes from a previous run.

The connectors on my controller has 4 wires(grey white brown and black) into 1 jst-sm connector for both the brakes and the throttle. And the grey and white are supposedly for the brakes. How do I test the controller alone with a multimeter ? And what should the readings be ? Just need to know where to connect the throttle wires ?
From your 5v p/s to the black and red wires, positive to red, negative to black. Connect the meter positive/input to positive junction, common/ground to the green signal line. The meter positive could be labeled different things. You can't count on meter cables being plugged in correctly, but Common/ ground is normally the black probe, and the red goes into the other port, assuming you don't have a port labeled "up to 10 amp" or similar - it's for a kind of current measurement - not used for your purpose. When the halls are active, they cause variation in how much is not drained to ground, and instead flows to the green signal line. Basically, current flows from positive to the throttle, where it is split and part drains to ground and part goes through the green signal line, where the controller interprets the variation as a command to increase or decrease power. The absolute value of the variation doesn't matter as much as that there is some range. They don't normally fail with a low signal, normally no signal at all on a throttle. The halls in a motor are a bit more complicated.
I have changed my hall censor Twice and I still have no throttle at all. ? Can you think why it has stopped working, could it be the control box , I still have peddle assist but no throttle what so ever

Hi, first of all, thank you for this very usefull video. I have a problem with my e-quad throttle reaction, I have 4 different throttle, one finger type and three twist type, I measured the output signal as you discribed and didn't see any major problem but the motor driver doesn't give any response during the first angles of the throttles, but after the first 4-8 degrees, the motor starts to spin with a higher speed than desired and it makes a bad feeling on driving characteristics of quad. Between the 4-8 degrees to max throttle, there isn't any problem. Because of this issue, I can't drive the quad at very slow speeds below 5kph. Do you have any suggestion to fix this issue? Thanks. I checked this issue with another motor driver as well, and the result was the same.
Was a component changed around the time this started, or has it always been this way? If it's always been this way or started.when a component was changed, its.more likely than not the order of the halls - try changing them by swapping any two. It could also be the phases not in correct order.
No... PNP transistor is different thing, this transistor working with magnet's, on two pins you need power and from the third pin you have analog voltage output, when the magnet is close output voltage is high when magnet is far there you have minimum voltage..
Strange that the legs of the Hall sensor did not have any isolation. Could it have shorted? I had a throttle that was water damaged and sometimes would start taking on its own.

One is injecting voltage simulating there is power going to the throttle.

I can't see sensor number on my bike throttle it is microscopic. So if I buy this hall sensor from the link you have provided, will it work in my bike?
90% it will work... this sensor is most common..

Hey, Is Xiaomi M365 motor control 36V350W replacement for Windgoo M11-A ? Thanks.
Few words are far better than music.
Great video...exactly what I needed, to fix my electric scooter.
Thanks that's very useful to me
Ji,
My cycle is running in full speed in standing condition but while deriving on road the speed comes to zoro within second (my kit is 24v 19.8 ah li battery,24v 250w LY1016z and LB27 controller)
Battery shows 23.6v in idle condition, while deriving 2.3v dropping.
Please give your guidance to find out exact issue.
Thank you.
I think you should check for reverse polarity
In my electric scooter only two wires are there. one is red and another is black. Can't able to understand how to connect it? While in new purchased throttle have three wires. Red, black and green. Please help me 🙏
How can I install a multimeter on my electric scooter I want to monitor battery while riding and charging I have a 1000w 48v 20ah lithium battery do I install between battery n speed controller
It could also be the phases not in correct order.
out standing wow great to know thanks for the video two thumps up .
so the S49E hall effect transistor is actually a pnp type transistor?

May i know the pin out of the hall sensor IC? Thanks
could you make a tutorial on how to attach a 3pin cable for a bafang motor to a throttle like this?
Does it required to connect on 5v battery to know if it is broken?
Yes you can do that but with common ground
@@EVCustoms can I have the connection? please. Like how to connect it from 5v
battery to throttle.
Very well explained and very informative. Thanks a lot.

This is a common malfunction. It always happens to me when I'm away from home. What should I do if it happens to me when I am away from home? which wires to bridge? I once had to push 12km to the service!
Just have another throttle with you, they're cheap. You can bridge the red and green wires, but that will give you full throttle.
you now sensor hall 503 found case to 49e?
Sorry....?
If yes then how to increase the signal voltage
Well done exactly right thanks.
What cause damage to that part with three legs?!
