I really appreciate the narrator giving their negative opinions on the product as well, because with a channel like this ,involved in the selling of the product, usually the video would basically be a gushing endorsement/advertisement for the product. Thanks for keeping it real.👍
Great flashlight and great evaluation. Here's a hint I figured out soon after I got mine. Twist the belt clip so it's inline with the button to adjust brightness/check battery level. Never had a problem finding the brass switch after that. Semper Fi!
First thing, 1700 lumens is all the light anyone will ever need for pretty much any occasion in a personal carry light. This trend of 3000 lumen turbo settings is really just silly; anything over 1800 lumens and you’re just needlessly burning battery power. This is a light intended for situational awareness in the dark not an evening of spotlighting deer; there are other lights and power sources more suitable for that kind of output. I love the increased candela on this light but hate the fact that Fenix omitted the 150 lumen setting. Not sure why they would do that.
i agree 100% the 150 lumen is the most used on a torch of this kind!! How freakin lame!! They did the same thing on the tk20rUE and also the new HT32 hunting torch so now it only has a runtime of 29 hours and they dint even add a damn eco mode which every hunting toirch should have!! Fenix is one of the only torch companies that DOES NOT listen to their customers!! We have been asking for a moon mode and also better quality holsters for years now but they just refuse!!I digress.....
Version 1 is 30lum-115hr/150lum-26hr/350-8.5hr/800-6hr/1600-2hr50min. V2 is 5lum-482hr/50lum-50hr/350-7hr45min/800lum-4hr15min/1700lum-3hr30min. Considering turbo steps down after a min the version 1 actually has better run times, but no moonlight mode.
The original pd36r on high of 800 lumens lasts 5hrs 50mins. To me, this still beats almost every other light because the sheer output/ runtime at that brightness. On turbo, after 7min it would only step down to 1,400 lumens and hold that until 16 min had elapsed.
Nice review. I really love my PD35s, (I have two) and I added a Thyrm Switchback to each one. With those add ons, I can manipulate the side switch with my pinky finger with no problem. I dont know if Thyrm makes a model to fit the 36R, but I would look into it. Especially if Im going to buy this light. Good job.
My original PD36R just quit working … battery fully charged and it just dosnt work … it sucks because I had this light for years and don’t know how to fix it
Send it to your local Fenix dealer. They should provide you service, possibly for free. At least in my country it worked great. They give you a new light or fix it.

Great tip! That's really helpful! Almost embarrassed I didn't figure that out myself!

Nothing gonna beat the PD36r 👁️👄👁️🤌🏻

Very cool!
Is the second loop on the belt clip for tucking a shirt?
Has anyone ever tested the run time for the outputs on this flashlight? I'd really like the 8 something hours at 350 lumens
Nice but i will go for the hm71r or the hp35r.
I believe the Nitecore MH12 Pro is a better choice. Same type of two button operation, but 3000 lumen and more runtime...
I WANT TO CARRY EXTRA BATTERIES BUT NOT SURE WHICH ONES TO ORDER FROM FENIX. ANY SUGGESTIONS OR RECOMMENDATIONS? WANT TO HAVE AT LEAST 3-5 EXTRA ONES
Check out the Fenix ARB-L21 Series!
