    I had to return my Fenix because I had too many NDs with that proud tail cap. I'm an old man so I've had EDC lights before EDC was a thing, but the Fenix burned holes in two pair of pants so I sent it back and got a Cloud Defensive with the ND protector. I've had it for almost 2 years and not a single ND. Totally different lights and functionalities though.

    I have the PD35R. Good compromise light - size weight output. Easy to use with dual tail switches. Can fit even in shirt pocket. Run time good. Intense hot spot. Turbo gets hot after about a minute. More of a spot then a flood. Biggest downside is no direct turbo or low you need to cycle. Excellent beam and reach. Not for close work better off with a small flood style light. such as E18R for keys fell in the car or checking under the hood. PD25R is sort of a mini of 35R as far as beam style. All Fenix usually very reliable no nonsense lights.

      I love the E09R! That is an absolute perfect vehicle light
      I like my PD35R too. It's a great light

    Man I’ve been so interested in Fenix lights but that horrendous UI has kept me away. Did Spain ting as everything else seems amazing. Great video!

    Once again Chris, I believe you’ve “nailed it” with your review and assessment. From what I see in your review, I would concur 100%. It’s a bit of a strange light, but that beam profile is “killah.”
    I’ve really taken a liking to FENIX lately, and own around 10 of their lights. Somebody stop me! 😆
    The Customer Service from the FENIX Store is exemplary.
    I like the output on this light, but I think I will pass. I will say, there is something about the “feel” and the quality of their lights, and they have some great beam profiles. This little light just seems like it doesn’t quite know what it wants to be, ya know?
    Stay safe and Happy Easter (early) to You and yours, and to the Community. 👍✌🔦😃

    Great review! They used to use duel springs in the pd35 but for some unknown reason they went to one which was an absurd decision......Anyhow I'm diggen the rear duel switches....

      Also they bumped the low up from 5lumen to 10lumen why Fenix?

    Best beam profile I've seen on a 18650 battery. It needs a moonlight mode for versatility. Not sure if I'm gonna get it.

    A comparision with the Thrunite tn12 pro would be interesting.

      2 completely different lights: 1 is a dedicated tactical type style 1 mode light (fenix).
      The other is more user friendly from moon mode to turbo mode.
      But the main difference between these 2 lights and a total deal breaker in my book is thrunites use of circuitry not using a current controlled driver. And on the lower modes you will see PWM (pulse width modulation) which is detectable to the human eye.
      This is why the fenix pd35 v3 has a higher price tag as well as better regulated/ (current controlled driver circuitry) than thrunites. Also on lower modes u will not detect ANY PWM.
      This I prefer over thrunites circuitry any day.

    Hello, I am in a dilemma about which one to choose? Tk16 V2 or Tk20r v2?
    The main use that I will give it is for hunting, forest etc...
    So I'm looking for something with long range, but also flood light, hope you can help me, thanks.

      I just got one the tk16 v2 the only difference is the 20 is 9 mm bigger dew to a sliding/screw for a charging port rather than having to take the actual battery out to charge it

    If it makes a clicky sound....it's not tactical especially if you mount to a rifle.....to include the green indicator light.

      Tactical does not mean silent operation, and there are pressure switches for weapon mounts.

    Unwise lumens steps - 10 > 50 > ? > 350 > 1000 > 3100. Where is 140-180 lumens?
    my old PD35 (2013) - 10 > 45 > 170 > 450 > 850 - almost Ideal steps for allaround use.
    (still cant find remlacement for it with usb-type c charger)

    • @HeathHunter
      @HeathHunter ปีที่แล้ว

      Agree! I have the next one (ver 1.1 / 2014) 14 - 50 - 180 - 460 - 960 lm
      There were 2.0, Tac, 3.0, and now PD35R and I still can't find a better one. The perfect homogeneous hotspot, large enough for EDC and still having a good throw.

  • @alexscharoff5028
    @alexscharoff5028 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks for the review and the different mode beamshots! As you reviewed the Fenix PD36R Pro too: Are the beam profiles similar? And is there a noticeable difference between the Eco modes of the PD35R and the PD36R Pro (10 vs. 30 lm)? I have the PD36R Pro, and 30 lm for the lowest mode is still quite a lot...

    5:05 It seem too have a purple ring around the extremities of the beam. Is this only on camera or is it visible ?

    Do or can u use the same charging block for all flashlights I have the pd35 it's a few years old I have the pd40 v2 and getting the tkeu 35v2 and the ht 30 the white lazer one..I'm using an old charging block that I've had for a while maybe 4 years old.

    Fenix comes so close to making damn near perfect lights but they always choke on something which is lame!

      @@KillerChihuahua387 Fenix aren’t bad. Iv head a few. I’ve had Pelicans and Nitecore as well. The Nitecore lights run literally a few dollars more. I think holding both in my hand, a comparable Fenix and Nitecore, one always just feels a little better in my hand. The button feels better. The cap screws better. It’s the Nitecore more me. Small details.
