You can also adjust the pocket clip so that it blocks the on/off button. That along with the lockout, this thing will not accidentally turn on in your pack.
Love the content! Glad to see someone from El Chuco making videos! Not many southwest artists on this platform and I'm glad you're sharing this rich culture!
I have the earlier version of the E18R and didn`t know about the lockout feature. Thank you for showing that to me. Great light, use it every day. Also still have my old TA21 which is still like new and works perfectly. I`ve had it for a long time, no complaints.
Good beam pattern and efficiency yet friendly UI a bit weak magnet base. I like the design of the pocket clip be able to rotate to block USB Type-C or the side switch for preventing self illumination or the port accidentally off the protective when carry which I appreciate. Thanks For Reviewing.
Looks like a cool light, but I think you already sold me on the T1. In my cart on Amazon right now. I've been loving your channel, man. Cuervo and yourself seem like some really genuine guys. Keep up the good work and I'll keep binge watching all your old videos. Very rarely do I comment on videos, but I really have been enjoying what you guys put out.
Thanks for the review! I love Fenix lights, not a big fan of the LED's they have been using as of late. My EDC light is the Sofirn SC21 in 4000k. High CRI tint in the Sofirn makes all the difference. Thanks again, looking forward to your next video.
I am constantly losing my edc lights. Have had to go with the Harbor Freight pen lights. One day I am going to get me a fancy light like this one and duct tape it to my arm. Great vid. Love your reviews and adventures. Thanks for the great content.
I like to carry these type of lights in that 5th front jeans pocket. This one turns on by itself. I love Fenix for its TK series, but for smaller lights Rovyvon is the way to go.
Which flashlights are durable for everyday use ? The ones I have tried died after a few weeks or a few month ! I have tried LED Lenser, Fenix and Maglite, I have also tried some no-name flashlights which was more durable than the 3 formentioned !!!
I’ve got spots in my eyes from playing with my light while watching this. Yes, I blinded myself. I use Olights, that one you reviewed is similar to one I have. They’re a very handy sized torch. I clip mine to my hat a lot when I get in the roof.
My problem with most of these flashlights? Finding the power button in the dark. Rather have a tail E switch like on the Sofin SC33. Drawback to that is? No magnet, but it's quicker to use in the dark than trying to find a flat power button. I like the Fenix E18R V2.0, however won't use it with my EDC setup.
Great looking, great performance versus size and priced to move. I really dig it. But me too, pinch my pennies, so wouldn't replace your fave if I were to buy one today, but good to see the comparison. Thanks for showcasing it.
I have an old TK 35 that is bulletproof. You pay more for a fenix but you also get quality. I bought one thrunite and returned it a week later. They have serious quality control issues
Haven’t tried the Thrunight or the Fenix yet. I do have a Olight Baton 3 though. So far it’s been a great edc light. Really strong magnetic tail cap too.
i know this have nothing to do with this video but did you put any varnish into the green river hunting knife handle or did it come from factory that shiny?
I think Aesthetics are important especially in this day of matching EDCs so it's nice if you've got say copper scales on your Swiss Army knife for instance and you've got copper accents on the torch. I'd take that 300 lumen drop in that case. Flash light technology has come on in leaps and bounds so any modern light is better than the old style ones. Cheers James
I just got into the flashlight game, been a knifedude since my childhood. I'm lookinf for something in that size, or an thrunite t1s or an aceveam tk16 but in titanium..
Thanks for another great review. I honestly prefer my Fenix flashlights to Thrunite, but the price difference may turn some people off. Smallest one I have is the LD30 with copper bezel and side button - I absolutely prefer having the tail switch to a magnetic tail, and was wondering if they make a tail switch for the E18r.
I am #TeamT1 myself. I really love that little light, as do many other people. I would LOVE to see a version 2 ( and not the T1S). But the identical T1... same design of the body, same infinity ramping, same orange peel reflector, same magnetic, same pocket clip. Just upgrade to Type-C charging & upgrade to a little better quality led w/ a nicer tint to the beam. That seemed to be most people's complaint with the T1, they did not like the tint of the LED. And also introduce some new colors. I would love to see them put out their first light in a beautiful burnt orange color! LISTEN UP THRUNITE!!!! If you do these three things to the T1, they will sell like hotcakes. You won't be able to make them fast enough. 😎👍
Great review! One thing that wasn't mentioned is battery size. I haven't compared runtimes between the two, but the Fenix uses as 16340 cell, whereas the Thrunite uses an 18350. The cell included with the Fenix is 550mAh, and the Thrunite cell is 1100mah. That's right around the max capacity you'll be able to find for each cell type respectively. That explains the longer charge time for the Thrunite.
fenix is new brand for fitorch i think? fitorch old E16R use both 16340 and 18350 (u can get 1100mah fenix 18350 or some off brand marking them 1200-1400mah). i want that usb type c of this flashlight. old fitorch use micro usb.
Another great one in the books! I’ve always lives the looks and performance of Fenix I’ve just never been able to justify the higher cost when you have rock solid companies like Thrunite. If there’s a reason they’re more expensive I’m open to hearing from the company but for now I’ll stick with Thrunites and Olights. Maybe I’ll try one of Fenix’s lower cost options just to give the company a try.
I have the Sofirn sc21, Olight Baton 3, and Thrunite T1S. The Fenix will be arriving tomorrow. Maybe I'll do a comparison video of all 4 lights and their strengths vs weaknesses
I wouldn’t call this comparison apples to oranges, but I think the PD25R is a much better option and a similar price. This 18R v2 has fairly weak candela.
I really want to buy a fenix lamp because this brand is the one I prefer (I can't accept olight with their proprietary cable & battery system) But why always fenix has this green tint especially in the low/medium levels I don't understand... it's ugly. Do you have a brand to advise me that is good material with a simple interface like fenix but with a white light thank you all and good day
Another great video and review James. I have to ask though, the cover over the charge port looks pretty flimsy...just a rubber cap? On a small rubber tether? Seems like that would be the first thing to break.
I wish the bigger companies spent some time getting their moonlight modes in order. 1 lumen is too bright with eyes that has been adjusted to the dark. Zebralight does it very well, going down to 0.3 lumen and the like.
Carried the E18R 1.0 and I’ve been less than impressed. Come to find out I really like the tail switch on a light, something this doesn’t have. I find the size to be awkward it tends to flip on the pocket.
Don't care how it looks. I care how it works. I still carry an old alpine metal framed pack. Approx. 1950's . I stand corrected. It is a Keilty back pack. NOT an alpine
You can also adjust the pocket clip so that it blocks the on/off button. That along with the lockout, this thing will not accidentally turn on in your pack.

great video. will the clip reverse so you can attach to the brim of your hat?

I got a Thrunite T1 from you and it is still my #1 compact flashlight. I use it all the time and have recommended it to many folks.
Thanks for this comparison, i was just teetering between these two lights and this video helped a lot!
Excellent review. I ordered one for my gf. Thanks brother
Good review. Just one thing....I saw no improvement at all from High to Turbo? Was your battery low?
It's astounding what's going on with flashlight technology these days.

James.... nice review. Good job!! Ax
E18 V2.0 and PD25R V2.0 are very nice 👍🏻
Those short run times and that that pocket clip arrangement makes this a no-go for me....and I love Fenix lights.
I dig Fennix products. Own their trail running headlight and it’s the bomb. I own an Olight baton and it’s good too.
Great video, thanks!

Great review no bull shit well done.

@Maxi Loibl i know this was 5 months ago but the t1 has a better emitter than the t1s.
I have the e18r, great light, the v2 looks great also
Love my Fenix lights got the pd32,35& edc36r interested in this model
.
Sweet little light!!! Would ❤️ to try it out!!
Brought a old tk76 new last week. Straight out of a sci-fi movie. Weight is ridiculous but it’s awesome.

Very nice light
Fenix pd25r vs e18r the best?
For the same price, you could get the olight Perun2. Its not as small but it is twice as powerful (in light output) I EDC it

Nice looking light but I’ll definitely stick with the thrunite thanks for sharing

Well, we could start with thinking Trunite is comparable to Fenix.
@@jerrysifuentes5012 totally up for a genuine discussion for how they aren’t.
When I lightly rub the side button with my thumb, I can feel some play.
It wobbles a little.
Is it normal?
Yes
@@OhneMich_Qx Thanks
I came for the E18 review but am now considering the T1 which works out to be about $5 more than the E18 in my market
You called it the thrunite at the end of the video
I have the Sofirn sc21, Olight Baton 3, and Thrunite T1S. The Fenix will be arriving tomorrow. Maybe I'll do a comparison video of all 4 lights and their strengths vs weaknesses
ive never used a sofirn light before, might have to get one
@@JunkyardFox It's a very versatile budget friendly light
Is removing of magnet from the back cover possible?
No
Hey I wen out and bought that light trough your web site. See what happens. Fenix!
Cool video bro

How is that compare to olight S1R Baton 2 1200 lumens???
they seem about the same

The Sofirn SC21 is a much better value. You can buy one for around $20. It is 1000 lm, has high CRI, and comes in 2700, 4000, 5000, and 6500k.
For real
Does it have a lock mode?

It’s just a copy of the oLight Baton mini
If you want people to see what you're trying to show...hold hands steady...don't shake and jerk your hands
If it’s not rechargeable then no!
what? i said in the video its USB-C rechargeable
