It's strange that he has such low survivability considering the fact that his armor is supposed to make him nearly invincible.

In FGO materials, it is stated his armor is sealed despite being present on his body. Otherwise he would've rightfully had 90% damage reduction but DW couldn't have that.
Fucksfired Draven That's fair. I like that idea alot because they borrow it directly from the original lore. Karna tears the armor from his body per Indra's request and Indra gives him Vasavi Shakti in return. It would've been cooler if he actually ripped off the armor painfully in the Fate series though.

Dude, if anything, you should be bringing up future servants more. It might not seem as useful right now, but knowing who we should be saving up for is way more valuable imo - especially if we love the servant you're reviewing. It helps knowing what future servants will make the ones we love even better.

Well yeah, but Nero Bride was made for waifu reasons, not gameplay, so she leans more on the waifu side than the gameplay side despite being pretty good.

Hahahahaha, Sunbro. These goldie boys Ozy, Gilgamesh and Sunbro are way too strong. I rolled him, Chiyome and Heracles before I cleared Fuyuki in singles but...I guess his legend had an effect on me so I donated that acc.
Hate myself for it now. Attack stat is really all I care about, rather than temporary boosts and keeping Servants alive is not an issue with Hans but I'll respect Lalter as I have her uncorrupted version to get used to.
Note: I'm glad DW let his sprite keep the armor, since defense wise they've sealed it. It always takes a serious handicap to keep this man in check.
Getting him was a good and bad feeling for me tho since he's my second 5SSR star servant but also my second 5 SSR lancer.

Threw 100+ Quartz at the Pseudo Mad Scientist with Lightning Powers and got squat. Threw a single ticket for lulz at Sun Bro and he came in with all the rainbow lights gacha glory. Pretty bittersweet I guess.

in my case i tried single 10x summon and got both LIGHTNING prof and underboob....while using 120 sq for sun bro only got fran for my effort...
i just rolled him today during his rate up!! i'm so excited! i had 240 sq saved up and it only took 3 tries (i expected much.worse so i was super nervous phew lmao)
Worth mentioning that if you lack scopes or need lower cost for farming max lb The Imaginary Element will also give Karna full np due to his 25% np charge.
I was trying to roll for penth, but this mans really spooked me. As my first 5 Star I’m really gonna grail him to 100 as one of my favorite servants especially since I saw him in Apocrypha.
I am not sure if anyone has mentioned but mashu has been our first servant and 1 important servant for quests in the future so maybe a spotlight for everyone's beloved kouhai?

I literally just got him and that's why I'm here. My first 5 star...I can't be more happy.
Good job like always on the servant review, Karna is one of my favorite male servants but I'm not rolling for him for the time being maybe sometime in the future, if I have the spare quartz and he is in a banner.
I've been lucky enough to roll Waver, Jack, Okita and now Karna (twice in one multi) so I've the optimal crit team which I'm happy about (and is full of some of my favourite servants) :'D

Funnily enough, Karna's low HP actually makes sense from a lore perspective.
In mahabharata he gave his divine armor (which was embedded in his flesh since birth) that made him invincible to Intra, and Indra in return gave him Vasavi Shakti before his fight against Arjuna.
He LITERALLY SKINNED HIMSELF to get rid of his divine armor. Of course his hp would be low.
Decided to come back and watch these since Karna and Arjuna both spooked me while I was rolling for Void.
What a tempting Servant to roll for. I have a spot open for a Lancer and the Fate/Apocrypha promo is coming up soon. Hmmm....something to consider. Thank-you for the review.

Jean Rivera Not having to use Liz is basically half my motivation for rolling for both Lalter and Karna. Didn’t get Lalter but I got Karna. Even aside from her voice and her lore, I just have something fierce against Liz. Don’t even know why.

Glad the guides help, and I have considered making spotlights for future servants before release but honestly that would be too much and I wouldn't know where to start. I'd much rather just follow release order
G&A Reviews how about making them when they are about to be released (like 1-3weeks from now)
I'm trying to level Karna, Arjuna, and Lancer Alter. It sucks because I need 14 Hearts in total, and IIRC the Saber Wars shop will only have 10. It ain't exactly a secret that Hearts are the biggest pain in the dick to farm in the current game. So that's why I was waiting for these vids in order to make a decision in which two I would level first.
I might just level Lancer Alter and Arjuna first, and then come back for Karna once I get more hearts.
It is very annoying that so many gold servants need hearts early on. I have a huge wait list of servants for hearts and octuplet crystals myself
G&A Reviews it's going to be a while, before we get the next best farming location for Hearts (and even then the drop rate is still pretty abysmal) and from the looks of things, there isn't really going to ever be a break in the waves of servants who require them. After Karna gets his hearts, I may just save up till Jeanne Alter.

I’m quite sure NP seal is considered a kind of survivability, at least soft survivability as it can delay his death by a turn of the np would otherwise kill him.

I really wanted Karna but thought I was screwed after using all my tickets/quartz on Scathach. Decided to use a free ticket anyway and got Karna on the first roll!

Karna's gonna end up being arguably the best all-round Lancer in the game by the time he gets his NP interlude anyway. Scathach and Okita fall off by quite a bit as time goes on since Quick-based servants become increasingly mediocre and Busters take over the meta. The latter fact makes Karna's NP buff insanely good once it comes out.
Scat is pretty much the designated 5* Archer boss killer until Summer Raikou shows up and damn near outstrips her for doing basically everything Scat does but on a Buster deck and a 4* cost

well i just got spooked by him so i decided to come find out more about him
the problem of karna is,
halloween mama + his own NP battery, + zhuge liang 2nd, 3rd skill = 95%
and if you use limit broken sakura or kaleidoscope, you will be wasting zhuge liang's skill
and pairing with brynhildr has its own problem too, she has poor NP gain as well because of low hit count.
also, the most frequent archer boss, aka gilgamesh, does not have brynhildr's beloved trait, while most of the beloved servants arent divine.
the two NPs just dont synergize well except for the def debuff
summer tamamo is a better with karna than brynhildr is.
There's a reason why he's one of the strongest heroic spirits in fate
It's probably because I'm using the Jinako CE on Karna (Star Absorb), but I don't really find it hard to fill his NP gauge too much. I mostly run him with 10/10/10 Hans with 2030, so I guess that fixes most of his problems.
With arts and quick crits he can fill his gauge pretty quickly
Karna was my 2nd SSR servant after Iskandar in my jp account. They carried me all the way to E Pluribus Unum. Sucks that I lost my jp account.

Karnas previous life story and how fate was against him during this life due to his Karma in the previous life:
Much much before the Mahabharatha, there lived as asura called Dambhodbhava. Dambhodbhava wanted to be powerful. So he prayed to Surya, the Sun God.
Surya appeared before him, 'Open your eyes son! I am pleased with your devotion!'
Dambhodbhava bowed before him, 'Lord! I am blessed to see you!'
Surya smiled, 'I wish to grant you a boon! Ask anything from me!'
Dambhodbhava hid a smile, 'My Lord! Please make me immortal!'
Surya frowned, 'That is not possible! Everything that is born has to die! Immortality is out of question!'
Dambhodbhava's shoulder drooped. He knew that no matter how much he asked, Surya would never grant him the boon of immortality. All the time he had spent meditating were a waste....
Surya stood there patiently waiting for Dambhodbhava to ask him, when he suddenly saw a glint in Dambhodbhava's eyes. Surya's eye narrowed. Dambhodbhava bowed to him, 'My Lord! If you cannot make me immortal atleast grant me this boon!' Surya looked suspiciously as Dambhodbhava continued, 'I want to be protected by a thousand armours!'
Surya looked at Dambhodbhava with surprise as the asura continued, 'The thousand armours can be broken only by someone who performs penance for a thousand years! And that is not all...' Surya looked at Dambhodbhava with horror as he continued, 'Whoever breaks my armour should die immediately!'
Surya was horribly worried. He knew that Dambhodbhava had performed a very powerful penance and that he could get the entire boon he had asked for. And Surya had a feeling that Dambhodbhava was not going to use his powers for good.
However having no choice in the matter, Surya granted Dambhodbhava the boon. But deep down Surya still admired Dambhodbhava for the devotion with which he prayed to him...
Surya's worries were however correct. Immediately after getting the boon from Surya, Dambhodbhava started wrecking havoc on people. People were scared of fighting with him. There was no way of defeating him. Anybody who stood in his way was crushed by him. People started calling him Sahasrakavacha [meaning one who has a thousand armours]
It was around this time that King Daksha [the father of Sati, the first wife of Shiva] got one of his daughters Murti married to Dharma - one of the 'Mind' sons of Lord Brahma, the God of Creation [It is said that Lord Brahma created his mind sons or Manas putras from his thoughts]
Murti had also heard of Sahasrakavacha and wanted to put an end to his menace. So she prayed to Lord Vishnu to come and help the people.
Lord Vishnu pleased with her appeared before her, 'Murti! I am pleased with your devotion! I will come and slay Sahasrakavacha! Because you have prayed to me, you would be the reason for slaying Sahasrakavacha!'
Murti was happy. Subsequently she gave birth to not one child, but twin sons. She named them as Narayana and Nara.
Narayana and Nara grew up in the ashrama surrounded by the forests. They enjoyed praying to Lord Shiva. Their mother also encouraged them to learn fighting. The two brothers learnt the art of warfare.
The two brothers were inseparable. What one thought the other was always able to finish. Both of them trusted each other implicitly and never questioned the other.
As time went on, Sahasrakavacha started attacking the forest ares surrounding Badrinath, where both Narayana and Nara were staying. The two sages promised the others that they would come and help them.
Nara went to Sahasrakavacha, 'Sahasrakavacha! I challenge you to a fight!'
Sahasrakavacha bellowed looking at Nara, 'You pathetic human! You really think you can defeat me! ME! The great Sahasrakavacha! Do you even know how I am protected! Do you know anything about me!'
Nara smiled and said calmly, 'You want to talk some more or are you willing to fight me?'
Sahasrakavacha looked at the calm eyes of Nara and for the first time since he got his boon, felt fear building inside him. He said nervously, 'I can be killed only by performing penance for a thousand years. You cannot....'
Nara looked at Sahasrakavacha and spoke with you. 'I have not done any penance....But my brother Narayana is doing it for me! And instead of him, I come to fight with you!'
Sahasrakavacha frowned and then started laughing, 'Seriously, you cannot think that your brother's penance would come to help you...! He is separate! He is not you! That does not count.'
Nara merely smiled at the monster, his weapons raised. Sahasrakavacha was now annoyed. This puny human was willing to challenge him to a fight and was not even remotely worried that fighting him would mean certain death for him and all for what? Destroying ONE of his armours....He still had 999 armours to go...
Sahasrakavacha raised his weapons and the fight started. Sahasrakavacha faced the attack of Nara and was astounded. He found that Nara was powerful and had indeed got a lot of power from the penance of his brother. As the fight went on, Sahasrakavacha realized that the penance of Narayana was giving Nara strength. As Sahasrakavacha's first armour broke he realized that Nara and Narayana were for all purposes one.....They were just two persons having the same soul.
But Sahasrakavacha was not too worried. He had lost one of his armours. He watched in glee as Nara dropped dead, the minute one of his armours broke!
But Sahasrakavacha was not prepared for what happened next! He blinked his eyes as he saw Nara run towards him! Sahasrakavacha could not believe what he was seeing. He had just seen Nara die before his eyes!
Sahasrakavacha focused again and saw that the sage was not running towards him but towards the fallen Nara! Sahasrakavacha remembered what Nara had told him. Narayana....
Sahasrakavacha looked at the running sage and bellowed at him, 'Your brother is dead! And all for what?' Sahasrakavacha sneered at Narayana. 'Just to destroy one of my armours!' Sahasrakavacha mocked at Narayana. 'Could you not make your brother see sense? Did he really think it was worth dying just to destroy one of armours?'
Narayana smiled and looked at his brother. He closed his eyes and muttered a mantra. Sahasrakavacha could not believe his eyes when he saw Nara wake up! Sahasrakavacha cringed as he realized that Narayana had performed penance for a thousand years and had hence obtained the 'mritunjay mantra' [It was a mantra to bring back the dead to life].
Sahasrakavacha realized that he was doomed when Narayana picked up his brother's weapon and challenged him to a fight. Nara now retired to the forest to perform the penance for the strength of his brother....
This went on. Both Nara and Narayana performed penance for a thousand years while the other fought with Sahasrakavacha. The minute Sahasrakavacha's armour was broken, the person fighting with him fell dead only to be brought back to life by the other....
Sahasrakavacha lost 999 of his armours to the twins. Realizing that he could never beat the two brothers, Sahasrakavacha gave up the fight and ran away. He decided to take refuge with the Surya as he was the one who had granted him the boon in the first place....
Narayana and Nara both went to Surya, 'Hand over that monster to us now!' Narayana said. 'He has caused havoc to the people everywhere! He is a monster!'
Surya slowly shook his head, 'My Lord! Despite everything this man has done, he is my devotee! He has worshiped me with unparalleled devotion! And he has come to me for help!' Surya vigorously shook his head. 'I cannot just turn him away now!'
Nara narrowed his eyes angrily. He pulled out some water from his kamandalam and threw it on Surya and cursed him. 'You have gone against my Narayana! He asked you for something and you refused! For this I curse you that you would be born as a human and suffer for this!' Surya bowed his head. He knew that he should not have sheltered a monster but he was willing to pay the price for his devotee.
This incident took place at the end of the Treta yuga. [In Hindu mythology there are four yugas - the Satya Yuga, the Treta yuga, Dwapara Yuga and the Kali Yuga. Each Yuga steadily results in the deterioration of human values with the worst in the Kali Yuga. At the end of each yuga, nature starts afresh.]
Immediately after Surya refused to part with Sahasrakavacha, the Treta Yuga ended and the third Yuga started.
To fulfil the promise to destroying Sahasrakavacha, Narayana and Nara were reborn - this time as Krishna and Arjuna.
Due to the curse Dambhodbhava and Surya together were born as Karna, the eldest son of Kunti! Karna was born with one of armours as a natural protection, the last one left of Sahasrakavacha.
As Arjuna would have died if Karna had had the armour, Indra [Arjuna's father] went in disguise and got the last armour of Karna, much before the war began.
As Karna was actually the monster Dambodbhava in his previous life, he led a very difficult life to pay for all the sins committed by him in his past life.
But Karna also had Surya, the Sun God inside him, so Karna was a hero as well! A hero, who was the most powerful, bravest and the most tragic warrior in the Mahabharatha....

I think in a rating system that includes S and S+, I'd say he has to at least be an A-, if not an outright A. He becomes a much beastlier damage dealer after his interlude, and when Buster chains become a huge staple later in the game (and with Merlin's introduction) and more Divine boss fights come up? The dude becomes a first rate Buster Brave Chain monster. You've heard me on this before, so sorry if I come off broken-record-ish.
I also think that his numbers concerning his NP gain are a tad misleading, too- and I've seen other reviews of him highlight this, attributing to him solidly steady GAINS. Getting his NP to where it needs to be is nowhere near as tough as the raw stats would make it seem, which sounds weird. Never smart to disagree with cold numbers, but in practice, I think it's true.
A lot of people on the JP server now rank him higher than even Shishou. He seems to (at least arguably) rank with Tamamo Lancer and Raikou, somewhere between top 3 and top 5. He really should get an evade/invincibiliy buff, though.
As of now, though? I say spot on concerning current/imminent servant availability and meta.
I think people are overly harsh on Shishou because of her being Quick and the break bar. And I agree he is definitly a pretty strong and versatile servant, especially if you give him crit stars, my major reasoning for putting Shishou ahead of him in rankings is because she has that evade for survival and can do more ST damage while also being anti-divine. I also give Tamamo lancer the edge because anti-male and better skills. Then there is Erehkigal, which I am still not completely sure about but she has potential be the best lancer period given how busted her NP gain and protection from underworld are.
G&A Reviews Verry true, Ereshkigal definitely shakes the class up a good bit. Haven't played her myself, but she seems to have been a grail servant for a lot of people. She's Rin+Goddess, so they had to make her OP as fuuu.
I also completely agree with you on Shishou. I also want to clarify that I say all that, not to take anything away from Shishou, she's a top tier servant (especially in current NA meta) & Top Waifu in my eyes. An almost unparalleled Boss-Slayer with that humble Quick-Mana-Burst. Her Quick Buff was one of the first buffs to see my Cu's GB reach into the 250,000+ tier of damage before I even grailed him.
I also lament the degradation of Quick play, and can only hope that someone like Semiramis comes along and provides that legitimate, broken Quick support. I also hope that Achilles is released simultaneously and is presented as the new, monstrous Quick servant catalyzes making the card/team a viable/popular one again. This is probably futile, but a dude can dream.
I also agree that Karna is hurt by his lack of defensive skills, for real. Discernment is pretty nifty, though... but I can only dream (again) for a buff that includes evade/invincible, and he'd be amaaazing. Even w/o it, though, once the Buster teams become huge, I think he's at least top 5, and at least on the same tier as Sheesh. Not yet, no, but being able to see what's on it's way? A-, at least. Not that B+ isn't respectable or unacceptable, though. Good points, either way.
If only karna can have invincibility skill for one turn likes his invincible golden armor which have 90% dmg *-* reduction
i actually got him pretty easily. I actually rolled for the Mashu CE cause its awesome art and its ability is pretty cool. was thinking it'd be great for a spot 4 Caster that can go from np 0 to 100 with a skill meaning they get focused fired while staying alive with a NP right as they show up. Medea comes to mind but got him instead. pretty excited but i have Lalter and Scathach so he probably won't get much play time right now. Especially since he needs hearts to max ascend. and I have Lalter, Gil, Drake, Altera, and Mordred fighting for hearts. then later with Brynhildr who i will roll for, who also need hearts for second ascension....

Well this guy took me about 450 quarts to get. Luckily 300 of that was not out of my pocket so to speak. But considering I got Tesla in a single pull and Tituria as well...I'm doing well. Can't wait to start using him as I'm getting sick of constantly relying on someone elses Liz to farm with my lancer team.

If you are talking offensively, like who the top 3 damage dealing lancers are, then yes. I would say he is third best behind Scathach and Tamamo lancer. But overall I would say he is fourth place behind Tamamo, Scathach, and Ereshkigal. Ereshikigal is a support lancer though she doesn't do much damage on her own.
