I think Benchmade is on a roll with the mini's they've launched this past year or two: mini-Freek, mini-Bugout, mini-Adamas, 945, ... all quality knives in their own right giving people who prefer or ar restricted to smaller blades options, while all the full-size versions are also still to be had for those (like me) who want both. I will get one of these sooner or later!
Interesting to hear your comments on the clip. I think the split arrow is the nicest looking bm clip. And unlike the bugout clip, it doesn’t put the screen heads in the path of the pocket, it’s nice and smooth.
I have not got a benchmade knife, and I am torn between the mini presideo and this osbourne the obvious thing is the price difference, having handled both would you say the upgrade is worth the price, thanks
I like the green but agree with you on coated blades, I'm not a fan. I'm really looking forward to this version of the 945. Now if they can only work on lowering that price (haha).
I am thinking about clip replacement as well, this is kind of knife which needs deep carry clip. Just wondering which replacement should I look for? Standard deep carry clip (the one on Bagout) or Mini deep carry clip (the one on mini Freak)? Thanks!
Can u kindly help me, I am going to buy black G-10 handle with a blue layer near the center, will it have the same durability and blade qualities compare to aluminum handle with stainless steel liners and spacers one?
I love the 940, and am really interested in the 945. But I have XL hands, and do I want to spend another $200 on a knife that's only 1 inch shorter than a regular 940?
Damn it :) If you want to show the comparative size of the knife, well, use squares! The background you use for the video, the one you have on your desk, it's a ruler, you understand?
Thanks for the review! I'd already decided I needed one as soon as I learned of it, but I wanted to wait until the 'classic' 945 would come up on sale (I live in Europe and the markup on USA made products is just ridiculous). Not too fond of coated blades, but seeing as this one is now on sale at BladeHQ for just under $120 I simply couldn't resist😳 I guess I'm lucky to have relatives in the States, because BladeHQ won't deliver this one to Europe😣 Still curious about how it'll fit my hand, cuz the 940 is just a perfect fit for me, as is the Mini Freek, and I've seen comparisons to both that make me wonder. But I do find the 945 looks a lot better proportionally. And people tend to frown when I pull out my 940 so I don't actually carry it as much as I'd like to (not sure how they'll take to a coated blade either ... I'll prolly end up buying another 945 along the line😲) so I'm sure I'll be happy to have this🤗
Big hello from Switzerland! ;) Just a quick question as you get both version of the mini 940, which one do you find to be the best? I'm torn between the G10 model and the aluminium one. Love G10 for the grip but love the aluminium for the look but as we don't have many knife shop here never had a chance to see both in real life! Which one feels the more robust to you? Thanks a lot for everything that you do it is always a pleasure to see your videos! Wish you all the best for the future! :)
Why do Benchmade, Spyderco, and plenty other American knife manufacturers continue releasing new product with clips that they know many of their loyal customers will end up replacing for yet another $20-30 added cost?
Don’t really need to replace this clip. The deep carry clip will create a hotspot in your hand, the ergos of this small knife works very well with the default clip.
@@williamperron760 Fair enough, but there's still plenty of models being released without the customers in mind first and foremost. One doesn't have to look very far to see where knives from a certain country are making simple adjustments and huge strides. Disappointing.
I love my 940-2. Tbh, I don’t see the purpose of the 945. The 940 disappears in your pocket, yet gives you a 3.4” blade. Especially for the same price, would rather have the 940. I can understand the slicing, but the 940 is pretty durable/versatile/carriable as is.
Wanted one of these so bad in the OG colorway have had a few really terrible experiences with new knives and their CS. I'm sad tbh but I can't justify giving them money :/
Lol about TWENTY YEARS too late.... Guess better now than never, can’t believe these things are still selling like they do idk who’s buying them still, must be grown up kids who’s parents had one? It’s become the modern day trusty “old timer” knife...
Never liked the 940 kniveséblade shape...nor the 945. It doesn`t do anyting well or even `good enough`. They aren`t quite `sllicers`becau the blade width is too narrow. there`s alost no belly for `slash cuts`. It`s not quite flat like a Wharncliffe style blade and is too long to be effective as a Wharncliffe... It`s only forte is it`s `flick-ability` for fidgeters. And the cost....not a cheap knife seies (e.g. vs the Griptilians...decent value...of all the Benchmade lines)...and the Freek`s)... I thin people ony get 840`s and the 945 for the same reason they buy PM2`s...to nerd out or to have as `comparison knvies ..for their review channels`...`just like everyone else`...heh..
I love this one, it’s just the price that’s absolutely killing it for me. I’d like to see it in the $120-130 range. But even that it’s still high
Check out Blade HQ's current dealio. It's right in that range for the moment.
Yea I agree the only reason I snagged mine was because I got it for 154 priority shipping included. Definitely a 120-130 dollar knife though
I have been carrying the 945 over the mini Bugout's now! Thanks for sharing your review and we finally get to see this released!!

Best (and best-looking) EDC out right now - Although I do love my Para 3
OMG! I love my 940 in the same config. One of my fav EDC. This is sooooo tempting!
I'm looking forward to this version. Full size is just a bit too big
That's what she said...
Interesting to hear your comments on the clip. I think the split arrow is the nicest looking bm clip. And unlike the bugout clip, it doesn’t put the screen heads in the path of the pocket, it’s nice and smooth.
Nice! I have the REI 940 and I love it. One of my most carried EDC knives.
Same, I'm hoping they'll release an REI 945.
Nice little one. I'm thinking about getting the 9400. I haven't owned a 940 but have held one a few times and like the feel.
I got the 9400 love it but mine is not centered and has up down play..boo...but still love it
I have not got a benchmade knife, and I am torn between the mini presideo and this osbourne the obvious thing is the price difference, having handled both would you say the upgrade is worth the price, thanks
Definitely buying this knife!
Most popular bladeshape at the moment !
Wish it would be out soon in
the Netherlands
I own both mini buyout and mini Osborne. I prefer mini bug out for long haul camping but for edc I love my mini Osborne.
I might get one, my first higher end knife was the pm2 and it would be nice to have this just to have another great knife to compare to
I love my 940, but not going to rush to get this mini. Thanks for the look at this one though!
Anyway to replace out the purple stand-offs on this?

You mention S90V but I’m seeing the specs list it with S30V. You had me excited. Still intriguing - big 940 fan here.
I love the 940, and am really interested in the 945. But I have XL hands, and do I want to spend another $200 on a knife that's only 1 inch shorter than a regular 940?
You're right. I just tested mine. It went through cardboard so easily.
I just can’t get over the omega springs failing. Maybe I fidget too much but I’ve never had an axis lock last more than 6 months of edc
I’ll wait for the s90v cf version. My money is on that being a thing
Oh yeah! I will definitely grab that one. But, even more so, maybe they will do a titanium handle with M390.
Damn it :) If you want to show the comparative size of the knife, well, use squares! The background you use for the video, the one you have on your desk, it's a ruler, you understand?
I'd love a 940/945...For the same price as a Bugout. They're just too expensive, especially considering the Hogue/Ritter RSK.
They dropped today! Two weeks early!

They really don't feel much different as far as grip or robustness goes.
Miss ya man… 👊
If you could only have one. 940 or 945?
940

I guess they do it because people still pay the extra coin. I totally get what you are saying though.

Many places have 3" blade limits.
Roger that. The 945 and other mini’s can make sense then.
Nice review 👌
I just wish it had black liners

Do you think that the all black, compact version of the 940 is also slicier as you indicated with the 945?
Yeah. It's the same.
@@SliceyDicey Thanks for the quick reply.

The modern "Uncle Randy?" I don't think Uncle Randy would agree with you, but I get what you are saying.
The 940 has a back spacer though...🤔 from recollection, not a BM fan, so I am watching this for SD.👍
I don't want to be "that guy"....(But why deny my true nature). :) There is no "U" in "Osborne".
(I feel better....)
1👍
Still as ugly as a 940
I just don’t get it 🤷🏻♂️
I own the mini presidio cf and bailout, love them both but for the life of me something about this blade shape will never appeal to me
I don't know why they made the grind so thick
