I'm 13 and I really want to be a fashion designer, but my parents aren't taking me seriously and think it's just a phase 💀. This video helped me a lot, cuz I wanna get a headstart and know the basics. Thank you so much, Natalia! ❤
Here, I think I can help with that! Think about why you want to be a fashion designer, why you love it sm, how u found out u wanted to be one, etc etc! Then write them an essay (the longer, the better!) and they will have higher chances of supporting you! This is what people do, and it works 85% of the time!
I really want to be an actor but my parents think that I will be broke and were trying to get me to be a doctor. I then said fashion design which they supported. It won’t be that bad, I like to draw, and I really liked fashion design when i was younger
Ahh I know I'm 10 months late but just know that even if there are those who don't believe in you, remember to always believe in yourself. I hope you're pursuing your goals!!!
Oh my I am still young and wanting to become a fashion designer and I still have a huge amount of things I need to learn especially types of fabrics and how to sew 😭
I'm really interested in evening wear and gowns. I'm 16, starting my last year of high school and I can sew decently (my mom can sew incredibly, wedding dresses and all- that's where I learnt it from) and I can draw pretty well. I am starting to create a fashion design folio
Nice! I’m 13 (second year of middle school) and I’m slowly making myself some patterns to do dresses and I’m interested in evening wear clothing too, my style is similar to that of Cruella from the newest movie but I can’t find someone who wants to do evening wear clothes like me to share tips and videos tend to be no help. 🥲 I’m slowly starting to build up a folder of designs.
In my personal opinion, I think apart from illustration etc. Fashion history takes a big part in fashion career, I’ve been taking some amateur fashion design classes since 8 years old, and since now, what my classes have been focusing on the most is Fashion history. Because someone can’t just draw an idea and call it a fashion design. They learn how Fashion designers used to work back in the golden eras of fashion, And take some examples and inspiration. Yes, they have to follow trending fashion but sometimes the best designs are the ones that stand out, by fashion history they can learn a lot about just that
I go to FIT and am in Fashion Design as well and about speaking into existence and how you say you’re a fashion designer... I can relate so much and have been doing the same thing. It was reassuring to hear someone else feel the same way I do!
I feel you, It almost feels like a gamble... but honestly you can only get somewhere if you truly desire it. You need to be dedicated and not give up, with a passion i’m sure we’ll succeed. There will be struggles and very tough times but that’s how you grow it’s bound to happen it’ll definitely be worth it as long as you do not give up and you remain dedicated.
You can study something in business so you can run your fashion business and learn the skill through youtube and diy videos. You dont have to go to school.
I think you dont have clarity is because you have not been involved with design and fabrics enough. Explore and do workshops and classes. It will give you an insight on the kind of work and give you more clarity. Dont get into it if there is even a little bit of hesitation
Yeah i feel u sometimes i wanna be a fashion designer, manga artist, writer, or any other things that include art and drawing, im still young but i think u should set your mind in one track and do all u can to reach your goal while your still young and its ok to change tracks in life as long as its your passion and dont let negativity let in your mind cause it can distract u just do wat u think is right for u and go to the path your heart and soul leads to. ( btw sorry if wat im saying doesnt make sense cause im still 12 :> )
Believe it or not I'm a self-taught designer I'm still new to everything and watching your video really inspired and encouraged me so thank you so much for your advice you're doing an awesome job
im a self taught designer for costumes and pulled 2 seasons of shows and finally decided to study fashion design and business management after 15 years of taking a break due to working in a different industry, im excited
As a little girl I always wanted to be a fashion designer but in my country (Mexico) that is a very elitist career and I could never afford it. So I went to a public college and I’m graduating this summer with a master’s in Design and Visual Comunication. And sincerely I think it was the best choice ever because in my free time for this whole 4 years I taught myself how to sew and design clothing. I started my own brand as well last year and it’s been really cool! Design taught me so many other skills like color theory, shapes, photography, video editing, color grading, animation, drawing, marketing, etc. And today I’m thankful for all the knowledge I got from college that now I can apply to my own clothing brand. I make everything by myself, clothing, photography, advertising, marketing campaigns, etc. And it’s pretty tough for just one person but very fulfilling at the time :)
Hi Andrea, you and I have several things in common. I also want to become a fashion designer but it's hard to become this in my country so I have to travel abroad to study in university. I'm very interested to know how you managed to do everything and start your own business? Could you please tell us a little about it? 😍😍😍
Ahh thank you! I've been trying to get myself into fashion design because that's what I want to major in, I'm still currently in high school but I really want to give myself the headstart and this video really helped laid out the starting line. Not to mention with the current situation of being home 24/7 I think it's a really great opportunity for me to start.
Thank you so much for this video. I’m 34 and wanting a change of career but there’s no way I’m going back to school. I’m so excited to start! I’ve been knitting and crocheting, and now I’m moving on to sewing and designing clothes now! :)
This maybe a stupid question but I have a lot of ideas for clothes in my head but I have a hard time putting my ideas on paper... so do you have any tips to help with that
Obviously practice makes perfect, but I think it also helps to think about how it would be constructed, that way it’s easier to visualize it and put it on paper! So like, where would there be seams? Darts? Zippers? Etc.
I think this path is totally for me. I’m naturally always deconstructing garments in my head, looking at seams on my clothes and trying to figure out how things are put together. As I’m listening to you, I feel all of this stuff comes so naturally to me, I’ve already been making my own patters and stuff and I am still waiting for my sewing machine to arrive.
I'm 16 I saw your lauching buisness video recently and I admire your talent so much! I only started sewing minimally for 4 years, I've only started clothing during the quarantine. My sewing skills are spread apart in sock dolls, dolls, then historical and modern clothing. I'm not a amateur or decent, I'd say I'm inbetween. I made my first milkmaid dress and that was very hard, it turned out good though even though the inside is a mess. I want to do this and other things. I don't know where I'm going to turn out.
I am 14 and I wanted to be a Fashion designer. I started hand sewing when I was between 6-8 years old. It all started with my barbie doll without clothes. I wanted to dress it up but all I have was a piece of fabric from a school project and my parent's sewing kit. I sew a dress secretly but I failed. No worries, when I was young I was very careful with the needles. But few years after, it was still a hobby and what I was very fascinated about is that I was able to sew a pants, a skirt, a tube top, and dresses for my barbie dolls. Now, Im into crocheting and knitting and probably would practice sewing again but of course with a portable sewing machine. Hopefully, I will make some good projects 🦋🦋🦋❤️.
I love this field because you are always constantly learning ! There are so many interesting techniques! I sewed my entire wardrobe and went to FIT and gained a tremendous amount of knowledge.
the part about calling yourself a fashion designer!! i struggled w/this for a long time because i thought my designs/ideas weren't worthy/big enough, but now i know that all type of designs and fashion ideas matter!!
This was really great advice. I loved when you talked about taking the route of being a self taught fashion designer. Thats how I started even before I got the chance to go to fashion school.
Hi Natalia, hope you are doing well ! All I want say is Thank you so much , your video inspired me alot as someone who is trying to learn designing and sewing from TH-cam!! I made my first dress yesterday which I also watched from TH-cam!! So this morning I was looking for motivation and tips from fashion designers! I am screaming with happiness that I found your video! Thanksss alot ! I gave myself for one year to learn well and try different designs. I will be back in this comment (in-sha-Allah) after I improve !

Thanks for the tips. I want to become a fashion designer but i just feel that its unnecessary for design students to attend college for 3 years or more. I dont think that more than a year necessary. I know that there are schools with shorter programs cause thats too long for this career
Personally, I don’t think school is ever “necessary” but I do think that it is incredibly beneficial to go. I did a two year program and learned a lot! I don’t think a year would’ve been enough time

This is one of the most informative video I've ever seen 💛.. Thankyou and you earned one more sub💛💛😃😃
Thanks for this ! I was always hesitating, but now I think I just do it.
PHOTOSHOP IS IMPORTANT??? YESSSSS I have a seemingly useless digital art class so now I know it's useful YAY
I am 14years old and I wanna be a fashion designer this really helped thank you
AND YOU ARE A FASHION DESIGNER. YOUR LABELS WILL COME SOOOOON 🥰🥰🫶🏼
Thank you for this video, I'm going to a fashion school this month
Thank you so much for this information you really helped me a lot I really want to be a fashion designer but i’m still in middle school next year I’ll be in high school but I’m already going to start learning about Fashion
And also my problem is that I want to be more than one thing like I want to be a fashion designer, baker and hairstylist
@@sonyamushtalova4091 just think what you want to be
What you love most
You love to be fashion designer or Baker or hairstylist
From my side I think fashion designer and hairstylist is more good than Baker
@@ananyatanwer9734 yea I think so be my mom really wants me to be a baker so I really don’t know
@@sonyamushtalova4091 ok
But what you want to be
It's a thing for your life
So,what you want to be that holds a great importance.
Just *think* what you want to be
@@ananyatanwer9734 ok thank you so much ☺️

One day I'll be a fashion designer, no matter how long it will take.
i don’t know what to do coz i really want to become a forensic scientist but i also have a real passion for fashion design and they’re like complete opposites so i don’t know what to focus on
I love with Wendy!
Thankyou for making such informative videos..It really helps I also want to become a fashion designer, would love to see more such videos

You are my role model 💕
It’s my dream to be a fashion designer!!!!!!
hey, can u start a brand with fashion designing? please answer since im only 14 idk this questions answer
love your posters in the back!
Random tip i remembered while watching. Take apart old clothes at the seam an you have a pattern lol my granny used to do that
Omg I really needed this thanku so much❤
This is a great intro video, I really appreciate it! I feel less intimidated.
Wanted to tell that when i came through your video i was happy coz i heard that u too went to FIT and i also chose FIT for my fashion designing course ❤️
Hey❤️ could you please do a video on making patterns
Thanks for the tips. I want to become a fashion designer but i just feel that its unnecessary for design students to attend college for 3 years or more. I dont think that more than a year necessary. I know that there are schools with shorter programs cause thats too long for this career
Personally, I don’t think school is ever “necessary” but I do think that it is incredibly beneficial to go. I did a two year program and learned a lot! I don’t think a year would’ve been enough time
My heart is set on baby clothes! I currently have a onesie shop but I really want to do more. I want to make dresses and all cute little human clothes
I love your video!!this is really helpful! Thankyou so much💜✨
