I made these today and it's one of my favourite recipes now! I even had the patties and dip as a meal in some flatbread, houmous and veggies, it was so good!!!
Just made these and they were bomb!! Just make sure to add more seasoning and taste before pan frying. I added falafel seasoning, onion powder, garlic powder, and salt.

I followed this recipe today, spiced it up a little more, added spring onions as well as the other ingredients and baked in my air fryer. I also sautéed the chickpeas before mashing everything together. It was like a tasty hash brown. Will definitely make again. Thank you.

I made this. One suggestion: do not use a food processor. The starches in the potatoes make the mixture sticky and difficult to shape into patties. Nevertheless, they were delicious. I substituted cilantro for parsley. Next time, I'll use a potato masher.
I agree. Don't use the food processor. If you do make sure your hands are very wet when making the patties to keep the mixture from sticking. You could also coat the [over proceseed] patties with panko crumbs to help.

Hello...I'm in BIIG trouble. I made this recipe this morning and can't stop eating them. I fried the onions, add extra cumin, 6 cloves of garlic, parley, cilantro, 2 TBS corn starch/flour. For those who found their batter fell apart, make sure you use enough corn starch to bind the batter, and fry (high heat) in enough oil in a non stick pan, it will work. If your chickpeas are wet, you WILL have to add starch/flour, otherwise it will just fall apart in the pan instead of forming a crust. Since they are not thouroughly cooked, it might also be a good idea to add most flour from the outside instead of into the mixture, otherwise it might end up tasting a bit like raw flour. With corn starch, this might be less of a concern. Otherwise, it's a good recipe. If you want to make it taste more interesting, consider adding additional spices, for example I added ground cilantro and curry to the onions, in retrospect I would also recommend a bit of chilli/paprika powder.
Hi! Thanks for your comment but the chickpeas are already cooked, it's stated in the video. If you mix the mashed potatoes with the mashed chickpeas you get a kind of croquette which stays together, like you can see in the video. Thanks :D
It was really nice. I even made the yoghurt sauce which was yummy. Mine were a bit breakey and soft. Perhaps I added it to the oil too early and should add more potato for firmness. We did enjoy it and will make if often.😊❤

Im on a strict diet and have to omit the potato. What do you reckon I could replace It with? Cant use flour either. Im assuming its there to bind everything together
You could try ground flax seeds or ground chia seeds. 1 tablespoon of ground seeds and 3 tablespoons of water is the equivalent of 1 egg. This will bind the mixture together. Adds nutritional value without adding flavour as they are neutral in taste.
I made these today and it's one of my favourite recipes now! I even had the patties and dip as a meal in some flatbread, houmous and veggies, it was so good!!!

I made this. One suggestion: do not use a food processor. The starches in the potatoes make the mixture sticky and difficult to shape into patties. Nevertheless, they were delicious. I substituted cilantro for parsley.
Next time, I'll use a potato masher.

I agree. Don't use the food processor. If you do make sure your hands are very wet when making the patties to keep the mixture from sticking. You could also coat the [over proceseed] patties with panko crumbs to help.

Hello...I'm in BIIG trouble. I made this recipe this morning and can't stop eating them. I fried the onions, add extra cumin, 6 cloves of garlic, parley, cilantro, 2 TBS corn starch/flour. For those who found their batter fell apart, make sure you use enough corn starch to bind the batter, and fry (high heat) in enough oil in a non stick pan, it will work. Thank you for a great recipe idea!!

If your chickpeas are wet, you WILL have to add starch/flour, otherwise it will just fall apart in the pan instead of forming a crust.
Since they are not thouroughly cooked, it might also be a good idea to add most flour from the outside instead of into the mixture, otherwise it might end up tasting a bit like raw flour. With corn starch, this might be less of a concern.
Otherwise, it's a good recipe.
If you want to make it taste more interesting, consider adding additional spices, for example I added ground cilantro and curry to the onions, in retrospect I would also recommend a bit of chilli/paprika powder.
You can also sauté the chickpeas prior then you can dispense with the flour or else use a vegan egg replacement to bind. :)
Hi! Thanks for your comment but the chickpeas are already cooked, it's stated in the video. If you mix the mashed potatoes with the mashed chickpeas you get a kind of croquette which stays together, like you can see in the video. Thanks :D
You don't need flour. I have done this with lentils and carrott also just soaking them 2 hours. Even if it's little wet it won't break wehn frying.

It was really nice. I even made the yoghurt sauce which was yummy. Mine were a bit breakey and soft. Perhaps I added it to the oil too early and should add more potato for firmness. We did enjoy it and will make if often.😊❤

Im on a strict diet and have to omit the potato. What do you reckon I could replace It with? Cant use flour either. Im assuming its there to bind everything together
You could try ground flax seeds or ground chia seeds. 1 tablespoon of ground seeds and 3 tablespoons of water is the equivalent of 1 egg. This will bind the mixture together. Adds nutritional value without adding flavour as they are neutral in taste.
