I work for the ferries and if you you look at the 4:37 mark of your video you'll see how the ticket seller estimated your rig length. There are measuring lines painted on the ground so they can easily judge your vehicle length.
10:30 You guys should check out Ellie in Space's video, "Starlink helping during disaster... and race cars." A guy developed a flat mount for Starlink dishes. His company is called, Star Mount Systems. You could have a flat mount Starlink dish on your roof so you never have to worry about set up or tearing down.
Every video just gets better. Marc I had flashbacks to my childhood when you said "Ruby Falls"....never let go of a small child in Ruby Falls as it will scar them for life. Glass baby, semi trucks & ferries covers all the bases. Thank you for taking us along !
GREETINGS!!! and WELCOME TO OUR LOVELY CORNER OF THE WORLD... have been doing the North Cascades and Winthrop for years!!! WELL DONE AS USUAL!!! safe journeys and bright stars to shine upon you!!!
You were within five minutes of my house on this trip! Would have been wild to run into you. I've lived in the PNW all my life and still get awed every time I ride a ferry. And I'm in North Cascades NP regularly and never knew there was a lit up waterfall!! We'll have to check it out next summer. Thanks for this great video. I love all of them, but this one being (almost) literally in my backyard made it that much more special.
I so look forward to your videos every Sunday!! I live vicariously through your travels. We took our 5th wheel on the Alaska Ferry system when we moved to Alaska from Nevada for hubby's job back in 2005. Boarded the ferry in Bellingham WA to Juneau, then had to hotel it one night in Juneau, then caught another ferry from Juneau to Whittier the next morning. A total of 6 days on the ferry...and it was in the month of March! When his job ended in 2012, I told him I would only move back to the lower 48 on the ferry. SUCH AN AWESOME EXPERIENCE! Many great memories! The entire ferry from Juneau to Whittier was full of Coast Guard people and their families moving up to AK for their new deployment. Met lots of wonderful people on that ferry. Many thanks for the memories of getting on the ferry. P.S....we also took the Badger ferry from WI to MI, on our way to the UP. I remember feeling a bit "green" that morning, as Lake Michigan was a bit rough!
You passed through Concrete, WA, and Lake Chelan is enunciated Lake Shelan. Hope you get a chance to take the boat Lady of the Lake from Chelan to Stehekin. Great day hikes from there. Years ago, a bus full of school kids went off the edge of Lake Chelan, which is 1,500 feet deep in some places. Lake Chelan State Park and 25-Mile Creek are wonderful places to camp, particularly off-season. If you get a chance, check out the little park at the bottom of Lake Chelan Falls.
Washington State Ferries are the best! If you have a chance to stay longer in Winthrop, it’s a great place to go white water rafting too! In early summer, we would often do the loop from Seattle - up through North Cascades, stop in Wenatchee to get cherries and then back to Seattle on I-90! Lots of great day trips in the Cascades!!
We live in the PNW, thank you for reminding us how beautiful our state is, sometimes you take things for granted, it is good to see it from someone else's perspective.
After driving a school bus for about 20 years. I learned that when I pull in and turn at an angle. So when someone parks in front of you. You are not waiting for their come back.
This is a fantastic and beautiful part of Washington State. I lived in Newhalem when I was about 5 years old and my father worked on the power houses of the Skagit River dams. Winthrop and Chelan were so close to where I graduated High School - Wenatchee. My father also worked on the dams and powerhouses on the Columbia River. Your video brought back many memories. Great videography.
I look forward to every Sunday! As a "Floridian" (Space Coast), know that during the hurricane as I sat and 'contemplated' as is the usual during these times... I thought of you all being new Floridians. Strange since I've never met you. Although, I feel like I've gotten to know you through the vlog. I am living vicariously through you. My aspirations we're to travel the US since during my Air Force day's I have seen much of Europe, Asia and a few other places less desirable. 😉 But my health took a drastic turn and a divorce put the cherry on top. I find myself with my "nest empty" and struggling to find my next purpose in life. Until then I am living vicariously through you. There are times you take my breath away, laughing and even shed a tear or two (graduations etc)... But most importantly looking forward to a new adventure every week. Safe travels!
My sister is from that area and I know Winthrop well. I am so glad you took the time to stop even though it put you behind on a travel day. It is a very fun and special town!
That's great - 'tire thumper' and 'brake pusher' - that qualifies as a multitasker. It stays! And when the bee flies into your shirt at Holloween time, does that make it a 'boo bee'?😁🤔
you guys passed within 40 miles of our cabin near Crawfish Lake north east of Omak and then 7 miles from our home north of Spokane Valley up the hill above Otis Orchards. Would have loved to run across you guys. Keep it up!
Great video and welcome to the PNW! One thing to note, you took the ferry from Kingston to Edmonds, but the Google Maps screenshot showed a different route.
Great video as always! I was amazed to see the boat on the ferry with you, the Grady White, they are made in Greenville, NC where i live. It has made long trip to the west coast!
Kind of confused here as the Google map you showed at time stamp 9:35 from Port Ludlow to Marblemount shows a route that takes the Port Townsend to Coupville Ferry. The ferry in the preceding video is not that ferry ride as the approach to Whidbey Island is rural with a small State Park campsite to the north of the approach. The ferry you took looks more like the Kingston to Edmonds ferry.
Welcome to our neck of the woods. One place that you missed was Fort Worden (where they filmed Office and a Gentleman), up at Port Townsend, that’s a great campground. FYI Lake Chelan is pronounced Shay-LĀN. Great video.
We were in Winthrop in May. We went into a restaurant, Three Fingered Jack, and we were lucky enough to have their dishwasher singing opera for us. He is a classically trained opera singer. What a treat. The restaurant is the oldest legal saloon in Washington state.
Watching tonight's video of you in our neck of the woods, PNW. About a month ago my husband came home from working in the Spokane area and said he thought he saw you guys on the freeway heading to CDA, Coeur d'alene, Idaho. Safe travels.
I look forward to every Sunday night video. Caleb has to make these adventures so much fun. He is such a hoot. The scenery is absolutely beautiful. Thanks for sharing!
I’m so glad you accidentally found Winthrop, it is such a fun town. My favorite wine glass is from the glass blower you showed on this episode. If you ever come back I suggest staying at Pearrygin Lake State park, it’s a few miles out of town and one of the best places for stargazing in the state. In my opinion the North Cascades highway and Methow Valley has some of the most beautiful scenery in Washington State. This was a really fun episode for me to watch as you got to explore all of the areas I have enjoyed while living most of my life in WA. I’m glad you were able to come in to WA and explore our beautiful parks.
Had a job at makah and stayed in sekiu. We did laundry in Forks which worked out well and there’s a good pizza place across the street. Of course Port Angeles has laundry but forks is more scenic I think. Don’t miss Hurricane Ridge and the Ho rain forest when on the Olympic Peninsula.
Can't say enough about this one, very entertaining as usual. Everything just falls in place, Caleb is a character. Just can't beat the northern coast. Surprised you didn't look for a bungalow there. Florida seems like you are rolling the dice. I saw a RV today that was similar to the BIRD and thought of you guys from your past❤️🤠
Love watching your travels. My Dad was in the Army in Washington state at the end of WWII and in the 90's he and I took a trip out there from Tennessee. We went to the North Cascades and I have a picture of him on the same bridge you were on outside that old powerhouse. Thank you for the flashback.
You always do such a good job, letting us see and feel things some of us can’t experience in person. Keep up the good work by the way, the music was great Thank you.
Locks like you were following our trailer's twin onto the ferry. We have a Coachman Clipper 17FQ. It is in storage for our winter. Great video. Have fun!
The best part of RV travel is discovering the things and places "no one knows is there" like Winthrop! Two hours of shear discovery and delights. Then on to the destination you planed for.
My daughter and son in law live in Bellingham and go to Winthrop all the time to camp. At Christmas they rent a cabin and enjoy a white Christmas. My husband and I camped at Twisp when we drove our rv over from Wyoming! Absolutely beautiful area!
I loved going to the Olympic peninsula when I lived in Spokane. It was fun to catch the ferry from Seattle to & fro and then occasionally from Port Angeles to Victoria Island to explore more. What a fun time, great place, miss the camping in Washington’s rain forest
I loved seeing your reactions to the Edmonds-Kingston ferry!! I live 10 minutes north of Coupeville and ferry reservations are definitely needed during the summer for the Port Townsend-Coupeville line!!
Definitely one of the most gorgeous parts of Washington State. You went by Colonial Creek campground at Diablo and back in out tent camping days, we used to camp there all the time.
Love to travel with you guys and thank you for taking me and my wife to this beautiful places. So much greatful that I felt doing the same for family and friends posting our travelings on TH-cam too. 🥰
I cannot describe the sheer joy I get by watching your videos. My wife and I are retired school teachers as of 2019. We started RV'ing and love it. However, we don't get to rv nearly enough. I live my desires and destinations right now through your videos. I just hope that we will be able to travel and visit to even just a fraction of the locations you and your family have gone to. Again, I smile every time I see one of your videos. Thanks for the joy. I wish all of your family the best. Robert Burton
I would never think you guys would be in our playground, you will enjoy it here so breathtaking up in the cascades, really recommend Ross lake legit the best lake and water with scenery on a sunny day heaven, I wanna go now lol 😂
Dang, that was lucky on that ferry ...it's been a cluster all summer with staff shortages & boat cancelations. A 3 hr wait was typical. We're heading to N. Cascades next week, squeezing in one last trip before snow closes it for the winter.
Looks like you took the Kingston to Edmonds ferry but your map showed the route taking the Port Townsend to Coupeville ferry. Did you guys change your plans?
Love this video. In July of 1980, I and 6 college buddies, backpacked 75 miles of the Pacific Crest Trail starting just outside of Seattle up by where you guys were. What an adventure. It was just beautiful. Every night we would dream about a great Salmon dinner with blueberry ice cream from a particular restaurant in Seattle when we left the trail. Now my wife and I travel with our Rockwood TT and grill our own Salmon dinners.
You all inspired us to get camping/RVing. More importantly the value of unplugging as a family & spending as much time as possible having adventures, tastier heathier food, making memories & new friends. THANK YOU KDY!!!
Loved Trish's amazement on the ferry! 😆 Yep - you're in my hood now, and yes, that's a very "normal" mode of transport around the Puget Sound. So fun to see you on roads I've traveled all my life. Growing up here was a huge blessing. So gorgeous. Glad you made it to our piece of heaven. 😊
Tire thumper…who knew. Ha, I like it as a truck starter best. Don’t let Charlie see it. Love the music. That truck car show and town was so cool! Love ❤it.
Your local UPS driver almost always knows the things to see and places to eat! Just retired from 43 years at UPS and me and the wife now take month(s) long rv trips now.
So beautiful, I sometimes miss the mountains of Washington , moved from there to Kentucky about 5 months ago. Kentucky has some great places too, but no real mountains, alas.
Thank you for sharing this amazing video. There was so much beautiful scenery. The mountains are magnificent. I can't wait to see the next video. Yall be safe.
We in law enforcement call that a baton/night stick. My suggestion is too keep it away from Trisha or it will become a husband/son correction stick.😁 Keep the rubber on the road and safe travels.
@@adventuresofjandk I had an amazing career. It's a shame to many government representatives have taken a false prospective against law enforcement. God bless you and your family.
@@brianhubbard4175 agree. Not even close to same level of respect these days unfortunately. I blame politicians and our so called media. All the best to you and yours as well.
So good to finally see y'all exploring our neck of the woods!! We've been watching you for years, and you gave us the courage to try RVing...finally received our Imagine in Dec. 2020...changed our lives in the best possible way. Thank you. Hope you enjoyed Washington!
The cascades loop was one of our favorite RVing vacations, we did it multiple summers while we had our trailer. Silverwood Theme park was a hit with our kids, nieces and nephews. Hope you get to stop and see it.
Love the video. Had me laughing thinking about some safety engineer going nuts when you used the tire checker to hold the brake down to start your truck. Those folks spent hours in some smoke filled corporate room trying to decide the best and safest way to start a vehicle. And you just gut punched them. 😂
Visited 2002 remember Port Angeles, Mount Olympus Olympus National park beautiful area great chill people / culture. Oh by Port Angeles is Dungeness bay, at a fish house in PA had freshest insane Dungeness crab. Being a Frasier fan loved going on ferries seeing that on your vid.
North Cascades NP looks great. Thanks for sharing. We understand the reset needed. We try to plan in a full hook up site from time to time. Take care!!
I bought “tire thumpers” for my daughter and I to carry in our vehicles. They are awesome weapons and since it isn’t called a weapon we can use it to beat the heck out of someone without being accused of being pre meditated! My daughter had an incident at a gas station once and she used the passenger door of the perps car to beat the heck out of the idiot! I like your uses as well. I used a walking stick to push on my brake to start my car from the back when it got really cold sleeping in the back.
Beautiful footage and great ideas of things to do! We were doing a loop to Chelan and Winthrop the same days as you. Had to wait a day for that same slide to be cleared on Hwy 20. Gotta love the North Cascades highway!
As a life long (65 years) Seattleite I smile at the great experience you had on our ferries. Now, the folks who daily commute back and forth from the islands to the city probably have some stories to tell, but your experience seems pretty normal to me. BTW Lake Chelan is pronounced "shell-ANN" Caleb Rudolf is a caribou, not a common deer. Speaking of deer, Winthrop is known as the capitol of deer running into cars- they're everywhere like rats.
So glad you enjoyed the Kingston Ferry - We are one of the ones that it is very normal for us!
I work for the ferries and if you you look at the 4:37 mark of your video you'll see how the ticket seller estimated your rig length. There are measuring lines painted on the ground so they can easily judge your vehicle length.
That's Kingston. At Port Townsend and Coupeville (Keystone) they have a measuring wheel they roll on the ground from front of truck to back of camper.
Incredible been using a tire thumper since old truck days in the 70s! And yes they also have another use for security! ThomyT
Washington has so much to offer. Beaches, mountains , hiking, biking, great food ,friendly people!!! Come back soon

So beautiful, I sometimes miss the mountains of Washington , moved from there to Kentucky about 5 months ago. Kentucky has some great places too, but no real mountains, alas.
Stunning scenery and Marc spectacular cinematography! Loved the cute little town at the end and the ferry ride was cool too.
Thank you for sharing this amazing video. There was so much beautiful scenery. The mountains are magnificent. I can't wait to see the next video. Yall be safe.
We in law enforcement call that a baton/night stick.
My suggestion is too keep it away from Trisha or it will become a husband/son correction stick.😁
Keep the rubber on the road and safe travels.
Thanks for you service. Dad was an officer for over 20 years.
Beautiful! That's a place worth going to. Love the hike!
Welcome to my part of the world! N. Cascades is beautiful!
Being from Huntington Beach California enjoyed another great video, good memories 👏🫵🏼🍺👏 thank you 👏
North Cascades NP looks great.
BTW Lake Chelan is pronounced "shell-ANN"
Caleb Rudolf is a caribou, not a common deer. Speaking of deer, Winthrop is known as the capitol of deer running into cars- they're everywhere like rats.
The North Cascades Highway and Winthrop are the best. We try to get to Winthrop at least 1x per year. You hit it on an amazing day.
