My wife Ginger and I are two of the kids that help collect money for the USS Alabama. We were given a card for free admission that was good for our lifetime. We both got to use that card when we were kids. Later as adults, I was able to spend time with my son on an overnight sleepover on the ship with the RAs from our church. One of our chaperones had been stationed on the ship.
That's amazing! Thank you for supporting its preservation!
U should buy U-R own Squgee because truck stops don’t change there squeegee’sbuckets sometimes they don’t even change the Water in the buckets. So U-R putting all that road grime from the road.😮on U-R windshield.
That is incredible! Thank you for your efforts. I visited the USS Alabama years ago (I think it was soon after Katrina) and it was incredible. I need to visit again.
I used to be a tour guide for the USS Arizona memorial in Pearl Harbor. Was an honor to meet all the Arizona survivors who visited the site each year! This was in the 1980's. Very few survivors alive today if at all!
So many good “one liners” in this episode. “Flight-risk”….”9 inches, I’m gonna slide off the bed!”…”must see green”….”Sugar-burger”….”Super Duty Girl”!! So glad to see you guys support our Troops!!! 🇺🇸🇺🇸 Thanks for the video, safe travels and keep the videos roll’in. Jim
I think he said Sugar-Booger, which is a line from a Hank Williams, Sr song.
@@robertcolpitts4534 yes I think so too. I must have gotten spelled checked and did not catch it. Ps. I don’t think Tricia cared for that nickname. But she liked Super Duty Girl.
So fun watching you guys finding your groove as empty nesters. It can be a great time that strengthens and deepens your love for each other. Thanks so much for sharing your journey. 😊
Marc; "toke" in Canada is a very different thing from "toook" but we very much appreciate the Canada love! We drove through Mexico back to Canada last spring in our Roadtrek and now have a whole new appreciation for your gas stations and, of course, Cracker Barrel. Love you guys since the podcast days! 💓
This is so crazy! We are at Meaher State Park right now. I about fell off my chair when you pulled in to the park and it was the exact same we pulled into a few hours ago. We didn’t make the restaurant, but it’s a great tip for the next time we come through! This park is worth making multiple trips.
Seriously - I sat here watching this video and laughed all the way through. Now I know without any doubt whatsoever where Caleb gets his sense of humour and instantaneous comebacks from - Marc! The two of you together are so funny; you seem much looser and relaxed for some reason lol. Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving with all the kids and enjoyed that cross-country blast courtesy of Tricia. Stay well and safe travels wherever her lead foot takes you. Thanks so much sharing - I REALLY enjoyed the ride.
I wonder how many videos it is going to take to get used to not seeing Caleb's smart-ass smirk in the backseat, making me smile, at least we will get Charlie back soon
I've been gone for a little. Where is Charlie?
with Victoria and her fiance while Marc and Trish went overseas to Italy@@MattHughesRealtor
Tabasco sauce in eggs, burritos, shrimp tacos and of course on sausage. Yum!
One demerit for each wheel on the curb. Two merits for each foot under 5, that each bumper is from the bumper ahead of and behind you. ie: 3 feet from bumper in front= 2 merits (2 feet less than 5). With Marc’s parking job it looked like 5 total merits minus 2 demerits for 2 wheels on curb = 3 merits which can be cashed in at cracker barrel for a free creamer with coffee purchase.
So many great lines in this episode. Peloton just FLEW by!!
We loved staying and eating at Cracker Barrel. I always ordered the trout! By the way, In the Allstays app you can set a filter for all the Cracker Barrel's along the way that are coming up. We are going across the country be ginning in April. We have been staying in Yuma for a while to save up more money after some expensive repairs.
My husband was born and raised in Mobile. I’m also a born and raised Alabamian. So glad you appreciated the USS Alabama BB60. Thank you for your grandfather’s sacrifice.
I’m embarrassed to admit, after we were married, we lived in Mobile and I never toured the ship. Now I must!
Thank you for visiting our great state of Louisiana! I see you have been introduced to our state bird the ever present mosquito 😂 Avery Island and the McIlHenny plant is truly a state treasure. Did you get to go to Jefferson Island while you were here? Its 7 miles down the road its the home of Joseph Jefferson and actor from the 1800’s. So glad you stopped in Louisiana! Have a wonderful trip, I enjoyed your show as always. ❤
beautiful storm in the desert
I love your videos and learning about the States through your channel as well. Thank you! 💕🇬🇧🙏
Great Parking Mark! As long as the rims aren’t rubbing…You Good 😅
Love Cracker Barrel for overnight stays…plus the food is great!!
Just so you know, my wife and I just bought our first Rv and are planning a trip from TN to Sedona towing the jeep this summer. (We have overlanded for several years but new to RV,CLASS A), we must have spent ALL DAY marathoning your videos of Arizona and areas close by! Learned quite a bit. Its our second time out there but taking my youngest daughter to Grand Canyon! Thanks for the info and new subscriber obviously!!!
Good Evening KYD Family 😘
How cool to see you stopping at Avery Island. I spent a summer working on the island as an engineering intern many years ago. It is a really interesting place. I took the tour a few years ago also. Have a great trip.
Kids are gone and mark is a college guy again, love it
We are watching this week’s video. You’re server at the speak easy in Mobile is our nephew, Ryan! That was awesome surprise to see him! We also love Meaher State Park and stay there a couple of times a year!
I’m watching this episode late, but I think I still would have missed your recommendations since I’m basically a couple of weeks behind you on the road. I wish I had known about the Tabasco tour. Yum! One place I would recommend is the Jewish museum in New Orleans. Very well done, and very interesting. Make sure to also go upstairs. History I’ve never even heard about!
Marc! I do. I put the chipotle tabasco sauce on my eggs. We went there in the month of April. Also saw an egret rookery there. And not far away saw Rip Van Winkle Gardens.
We greatly appreciate the insert for ‘Cajun Man’s Swamp Tours and Adventures’! We’d love to have you or any of your wonderful viewers to come pass a good time down da bayou;) And as always, great video content; thanks for sharing your ‘dreams’! @keepyourdaydream 0:41
I consider the curb part of the street! So there you go! 😃
Your timing on this is wonderful. I'm so excited to see what you have in store on this trip. I'm a full-time RVer and will be doing a good portion of that route starting in late March of next year. Thanks for sharing.
I like you guys, you’re so funny and lots a wit. I was in the Navy for twenty years but never been to USS Alabama. I was station in Gulfport and drove by it every time I go home to Florida.
Y'all missed a great spot for lunch or dinner in Ocean Springs MS, The Shed BBQ and Blues Joint. Great BBQ and cool folks.
Awesome your back on the road 🤩
Love the places you stopped at tonight. Places we visit all the time and stay at the state park 3 to 4 times a year as a stop over to Fla.
Happy Sunday everyone
After traveling 30K in our RV, another 140K on motorcycles...saw areas that were only on secondary roads! One of our trips was 11K miles in 3 weeks coast to coast...was fabulous! LOVED EATING MOM AND POP'S places! Found some food better than New Orleans at a TRUCK STOP!! Bless all those who served and their families who lost loved ones! They are all treasured... my stepfather did 5 tours in Viet Nam...he was AWESOME!
Loved the video. Thank you. Blessings
Tobacco on eggs 👍🏽 also on hash browns with a little ketchup 😉
I love Tabasco on my eggs and wrap!
On your return trip, I suggest Crooked River State Park in St Mary's Georgia. Visit St Mary's and take your bikes, catch the ferry (fee) to Cumberland Island and explore the island, including the Dungeness Ruins.
I think my oldest son would love that Tabasco museum/factory. He practically puts that stuff on everything. I love putting Louisiana hot sauce on my eggs, yum. I think the USS Iowa is a museum now too, but couldn't swear to it.
Welcome to LA! As you were talking about the birds at Avery Island you killed about 3 of our unofficial state birds! 😂😂
Yay for Tabasco on eggs! Red and/or green!! Great tour …just south of there is Weeks Island, home of Morton Salt.
Loved the video tonight! Thank you. For the record, your knitted winter hat is pronounced “tewk” in the Great White North.
Lol, maybe if you have a british accent! no ‘ew’ sound its a ‘too’ sound.🍻
That’s the same gentleman who instructed us on our tour back in March of this year. We loved Meaher State Park. We had a waterfront site and were able to watch alligators swimming in the bay.
😂 in most states the law says that your wheels have to be within 18 inches of the curb. Get out the tape measure, but I think you succeeded!
I didn't see the post about suggestions & right out of the gate y'all are at Meaher State Park. One of our favorites & Vinnie just said "now everyone will know". Loved your "Cat Scale" park at the Speakeasy ~
If that was Trish's Great-Grandpa, he must have been a pretty high ranking man by then, based on an age estimation. Big Salute.
You two are so hilarious. My husband and I have made so many adaptations to our little 16” trailer after watching you. From the new cushions at our dinette (love them) to the planned LevelMate Pro purchase 👍🏻 cause of my OCD and leveling 😂
As for Tabasco, my hubbie (being a former Marine) puts Tabasco on EVERYTHING he can 🤦🏻♀️ too much vinegar for me, but he says it’s his salt.
Thank you for all your travels and ideas, and welcome to the “Empty Nesters” club. Our kids have recently left as well.
Merry Christmas to the KYD Family.
Marc, you sound like Caleeb on that parking spot! He will love to watch this vidio you two!
We love Meaher State Park, we stay there every time we go to Florida. Our kids love the USS Alabama so much, we had yearly passes when we lived in Louisiana. Meaher is the perfect park to stay at if you are planning on going to the USS Alabama. I have to say though, the storms that come across the bay are unreal. Lol 😊
We were just at Meaher State Park and in fact we were trying to figure out when y’all were there. I believe we were there at the same time. We checked in on the 14th and checked out on the 21st. It’s a great little campground. Safe travels.
Love ya'all....Just got your map - I'm Canadian -- pronounced TooK...bon chance avec ça (good luck with that)
On your way out to AZ, stop in grants NM. There’s an awesome ice cave underneath an extinct volcano
My husband is Canadian and he says it’s pronounced “twooooook” as in the #2 with a k at the end 😝
👍🏻🍻
Green Tabasco on eggs is a MUST!
We live about 2 hours from Meaher State Park so we go over there a few times a year. Next time your there go to Fairhope to the Warehouse Donut and Breakfast. Great food.
Loved this video - such a fun idea! We stayed at Meaher St Pk a couple of times, both times fabulous. And we had a great time at Tabasco! I like the no expectations thing, as I’m failing at researching lately 😂 Oh that unlevel - no, no, getting picky.
Cathedral Caverns State Park. Amazing largest natural mouth cave in Woodville, Al
I know my great grandfather made the big guns for those battleships. I just don't know which ones :-( I loved this episode.
Three fun stops to add to the list!
Definitely hot sauce on eggs I think a better question would be “Who Doesn’t “😂😂❤
I love green Tabasco for a mild flavor addition
Tabasco goes on everything!!!!!!!!!!
Trish and Mark minus the kids = Spicy KYD
Y'all CRAZY!!!
My dad puts Tabasco on EVERYTHING including his eggs
FAVORITE QUOTE! " LET'S GO SEE THE THINGS WE CAN SEE RATHER THAN THE THINGS WE CAN READ."
You must try Tabasco on pizza! And yes, I put it on eggs too…
Love Tabasco on eggs! Try on deviled eggs! We grow different varieties of hot peppers here at home,my hubby dries them and makes his own spice powder seasoning, can give you tears! Lol
Just discovered your channel, subscribed, and binging to catch up! Do you have a Q&A or a video on your backstory - are you full timers? Do you work other than TH-cam?
I also love the black and white tank tops with the high neck that’re cut in from your shoulders. Where are those from?
We need to make a video that bring people up to speed. We were FT for the first 3 years, but when our daughter went off to college, we wanted a place for holidays. We share the KYD Cabin in Flagstaff, AZ with the community. Yes, we only do TH-cam.
Not even Charlie with you two!
Mark I had a thermos that held 2&1/2 pots of Dunkin Donuts coffee back in the late 80's an they did not know what to charge me back when i was truck driver. I was born on December 7th. Heading to Texas to see the folks I hope. 6" i would have crawled right in to bed no problem.
When your back in Indiana, you should check out the George Rogers National Historical Park in Vincennes Indiana. And while there also visit the 9th president of the United States home called Grouseland.
Hot sauce on eggs at all times!
I think Marc has an addiction problem, and it's called a level addiction 😂😅😂.
Keep the rubber on the road and God bless.
Great video. I'm with Marc, I like level, too. I hope he didn't fall out of the bed.😅 Have fun KYDs!
Oh contraire, monsieur. Parking on the sidewalk in Mobile is UNLAWFUL!!! Now, seriously, I love Meaher State Park. We will be heading there in a week for our annual holiday visit of family and friends on the "Eastern Shore" (east side of Mobile Bay). You should know Mobile, AL is the number one city in the US for rainfall. 🤔 Still, a great place to be.
Ive been to Mobile to see the USS Alabama, they had a simulator, fun!! My 2 kids went into the submarine! See ya next time!!❤😊
‘Tuke’ 🇨🇦
Nice hats. Nice tour and bless iur ancestors for giving us freedom. I know wars and losses are hard darlins. Now toke... .is to smoke a joint. Touque is like too. Tooooook eh? It revolutions de touque. Lol! Love you all. Carolyn and Colin moving forward...ho! Canada en?
Canadians day Touque pronounced (Tuke) lol Mark note (Toke) lol which would be an entirely different thing hahahha
We stopped at the battleship after Katrina, I don’t remember having to pay to visit.
Yessss Tabasco hot 🥵 sauce on eggs 🍳 ❤❤❤
Marc took lesson from the truck driver on the scale. lol Toque but the oq is ook
❤️🇨🇦
I love Green Tabasco on my eggs in the morning.
Canadian here.. toque.. pronounced like spook.. toke.. like you pronounced is something you do with a joint lol
I’m with Trish-let’s get where we are going!
G bless you Thank you for this videos I like, continuous brilliant Thank again
Can’t do eggs without Tabasco!
Curious about the tire pressure gauge you are using... Type? Brand? Ok for A classes? Not happy with our TPMS ...
Even if your part way off the scale your tires on the scale still weigh the same. He is not cheating. The scales weigh the weight on them, the weight transfers to what is on the scale.
Hot sauce on eggs is delicious.
The curb parking by Marc must have been subconsciously a carryover from the semi up on the curb at the Love’s. Just sayin’. My dad put tabasco on eggs. Thanks for the memory!
I am a fan of yours, been one for six years? Really that long? Anyway, I purchased a small RV and have been traveling mostly around the south and am currently south of Mobile, Alabama. My question is will the next legs of the road trip be coming in succession? Loved the first one and hope I can find a person to caravan along your road trip. Thanks.
Miss Charlie with you
Trish, where did you get the cute tennis shoes you were wearing with the little brown jacket? Love your channel by the way!
He decided to live his life by the big beats manifesto.
Nice video, love the vicarious travel and great shots … but (cough) Marc, when you splice in a video clip at the dinette in the Airstream flipped to a reverse right/left perspective, you trigger my OCD big time! I know that seat should be on the left, not the right! How come?
You must know the kids don't watch of you're sharing their presents already hahaha
I think I’m having more “empty nest pangs” now than when my own kids left the nest😢.
Not gonna lie I've been to uss Alabama several times and I love it
