You're going at a good time! Was just there this weekend - beautiful (well, weather wasn't but it was "atmospheric") and not crowded. Thanks for the nice comment.
You are so right - and I never really thought of it like that. The North Cascades is one of the few National Parks not overrun with tourists. It's a little slice of heaven. Love the UK (was there in April and heading back in December).
I'm pretty sure you can get to the Diablo lake overlook. The highway closes down around the Ross Dam Trailhead during the winter. Here is the site to check: www.nps.gov/noca/planyourvisit/north-cascades-highway.htm?ref=travellens.co#:~:text=State%20Route%2020%20Closed%20for%20the%20Winter&text=State%20Route%2020%20is%20closed,do%20not%20block%20the%20gate.
Holy smokes, how did I never know about this park! Planning an eventual trip back to Olympic as I was inspired by your other videos and dropping pins on Maps when I decided to see what else is in the state to do and noticed this park and lucky me you have a video on it!
Thank you! Yes, there is a risk of wildfires in June. I was driving in September (obviously not June) this year and could visibly see wildfires. I would be more surprised if there were not (sadly) wildfires than if there were.
Love your videos. I am planning a trip to banff and the north cascades. I already booked a hotel you recommended in your banff video. Do you have any recommendations for where to stay for my north cascades visit?
Thank you so much for the nice words. By the way, a new Banff/Jasper video was published today. Alright, your question. There isn't alot of logding in the park and the lodging that is there isn't easy to get to. My favorite place to stay in the North Cascades area is at Sun Mountain Lodge. It is amazing...just so nice. It's high end though, so not cheap! It's also about an hour (maybe a little more) from the Park and towards Winthrop. South of the Park is Chelan, but again, it's a ways from the park although still considered to be in the "north cascades." I have never stayed at the Lakeside Lodge and Suites but I have friends who have and they love it (again, not cheap). I mentioned Winthrop before, there is other lodging there and Winthrop is a lovely little town.
I didn’t fly it. Anything drone like is from a stock video site. And you’re right, cannot fly a drone in a national park unless you have a permit (my understanding is that they are not easy to get).
If you really want to see and experience how special this national park is, plan to get out on a hike, backpack and/or climb. The best scenery can't be seen by car and can't be experienced in just a day.

Great work! Can't wait to get into the North Cascades in a few weeks!

The New Zealand of America! I would love to visit this brilliant corner of the USA! Love from the UK! 🇬🇧 🇺🇸

Very informative. Thank you
Thank so much. I love the Cascades - been to the park each of the last two weeks. The colors are popping!
Thx for sharing.
Just wondering if I can drive to these overlooks this weekend?

Thank you for the comment. The North Cascades is gorgeous and almost empty! Very special area.
Great vid - planning to visit around june of next year, is there a risk of wildfires at that time of year?

how were you able to fly your drone in the national park? i thought it was illegal in all national parks

Totally correct and I'm so glad you mentioned that.

It was my understanding that ~200 girzz are going to be reintroduced to the north cascades.
Really? Wow! I had not heard that but that is a huge number of grizzlies.
@@traveleaz I think it was only announced last week. It won't be an all at once thing, I think like 10 per year or something.
@@rtj6874thanks for that. That is big news.
define girzz please
