"Make it your own style" - best conclusion ever. I have ordered a Fuji X-H1 with a 50mm f2 (the 1.x lenses will have to wait until I am a famous photographer) and I was asking myself whether the lense is the right choice (I usually don't shoot portrait)... until I have heard your conclusion. (Street) photography simply is very subjective ... and it is about what look you like.
The overall consensus amongst so-called "street shooters" is to follow that Robert Capa quote "if your pictures aren't good enough, you aren't close enough", that is street photography orthodoxy. Get in close with a 35mm lens, invade personal space, ala, Bruce Gilden, I say BS to that. While I do have this lens, though I prefer the 18-55 (I know, sacrilegious amongst hardcore street shooters) on my X-E3, though I have played with the 56 in the past on the streets.
Yeah it’s all subjective. I feel that street is spontaneous and is meant to tell a story of the urban environment. You want people to look at the photo and get a real sense of what it’s like to be there! One lens is not going to do that for you. Switching it up and using different focal lengths give different contexts. I find that more busy environments a telephoto like the 56 really helped me to catch that “vibe”. No hat. I’m trying to not wear hats in my videos anymore either haha. Also good point on the speed of the lens. Too many complain about af speed when even with blistering fast lenses they still are not good at picking out moments in general.
This video at first made me think, "why is everybody gravitating to such long lenses for street photography these days," and then I developed a theory as I watched it: because digital has changed how most people are viewing photos (far bigger than 4x6) and modern lenses have vastly improved image quality, I think the ability to get greater detail now makes us crave greater detail, and pulling in means more detail punch. Also, hat off. There are enough "hip" photographer douchebags on youtube already.
Yeah dude, now you mention it. Detail does have a lot to do with it. I think tells a story in a unique way. Hahaha! Ok I’ll be one of those sophisticated TH-camrs 😉💁🏻♂️

It depends what you need it for! I wouldn’t say buy it for casual shooting. But if you own one and don’t use it for street photography cause you think it’s too “pro” then you missing out imo
You must have amazingly steady technique because without OIS (or IBIS in the bodies) I found this lens difficult to avoid camera shake when shooting wide open or at shutter speeds below 125. I ended up moving mine along and got the 50-140. Nice lens but it's such a tank I almost never take it out. Considering the 50 f/2 but would be more attracted if it was at least f/1.4. Decisions...
Yeah man I agree! For an 85mm at f1.2 it’s quite small which is awesome for travelling around. But, it is difficult to stay steady from time to time. Perhaps try the 35mm 1.4? I needed something similar to compliment my 56 and so far it’s working as intended!
@@HVRIS The 35 f/1.4 was my first lens in the Fuji system. It's still in the bag (along with the 16 f/1.4 and 23 f/2) and when it's on the camera it's hard to take it off. Slow and noisy but the IQ is amazing.

Have you ever tried to do some street with the 50-140?
Thanks very much. I agree, hat off... because you have great hair.
Thank you so much! 🙏🏼
Love your channel!
Just stumbled onto your channel after watching Gajan. Great videos and great content from another Fuji shooter.
Just subscribed😃👍
Thank you so much! Welcome to the community 👊🏼
Nice shots with this 56mm len. 👍
Thank you! 🙏🏼
I have watched quite a few of your videos today and wondering which lens you use the most today. P.s definitely hats off mate 🤟😀👊
Thank you! The 56mm f/1.2 is my most used lens haha
Or my “go too”
@@HVRIS haha. I thought you might say that. I am yet to try it out but the magic sauce is something i have to see with my own eyes. Have a good night man and thanks again
Love your work! What profiles do you use for shooting videos and photos? Also be sweet if you find an editing video!
Thanks dude! I tend to use the classic chrome film simulation and then edit to my taste! I do have some tutorials but I think I’m due to make a new one now!
@@HVRIS cheers bro! So you use the jpgs for photos and do you shoot video with classic chrome too?
Andrew Veale I shoot photos in raw and add classic chrome. For video I shoot with classic chrome but make it into a flat profile
Off bro lol. Great stuff and let’s face it when Omar speaks Fuji users listen.
Hahaha! Thanks man and I do agree with you! He is the man ✌🏼
Nice video, I love my 56! P.S. A gentleman does not wear a hat indoors, hat off is my preference, like Omar says why cover that great head of hair!
Haha ok ok! I’ll try to be more elegant for my videos ;) really appreciate it dude! Thanks for stopping by
So how does it compare to the Velvet 56 by lens baby. By the way who said you need bokeh and street. Find it extremely counterproductive photography
Can this lens work with the Canon M6 mark 2? because it has the same sensor size as the fujifilms xt30
If there is an adapter out there that exists, but I’m not sure, maybe look at sigma I believe they do a 56 too
hats off to you
Thank you! 🙏🏼
I’m trying to find out how I can attach my PD strap to my Fuji camera...
I should make a video on this.. haha it took me awhile don’t worry there is a way!
HVRIS looking forward to the video!
hi, i'm new to the channel, definitely HAT OFF!
Thank you so much! 👊🏼hope you enjoy what’s to come! (Without a hat on of course haha)
I've just rented this lens for a few days. One day I think it'll replace my canon stuff for weddings but I'm interested to see how I like it for streets.
The hat looks good on or off. Do what makes you happy :P
Subbed!
Haha thanks man!
I think you’ll trade your canon stuff very soon 😂 and subbed back! Love your thumbnails
@@HVRIS Much appreciated :) I think I will be fully switched soon too.
Well done!
Thank you!
Sick intro man. Love the colors and the track you used. Well done 👏
Thank you so much! 🙏🏼🙏🏼
35mm f.2 and 56mm f.1,2 would be enough for me I think 😇
It is a lovely combo, I just want to try them all 💁🏻♂️
@@HVRIS 🙅. I was surprised at the price of that 56mm lens.
It changed my mind, then the 35mm is exactly for me 🙋
It depends what you need it for! I wouldn’t say buy it for casual shooting. But if you own one and don’t use it for street photography cause you think it’s too “pro” then you missing out imo
great video!!!
Thank you so much!
Hat off! Liked the vid, loved those shots. Looking forward to checking out more of your content.
Thank you dude! Recorded a new video. Hoping to release it super soon! ✌🏼✌🏼
Very informative
definitely hat off man,,, you look way more handsome,
Thanks buddy 👊🏼
Yeah, it’s not sexiest lens with quiet AF like the f2 versions. But the results speaks for itself 🙌🏼
I really love my 56, but strangely enough, I sometimes prefer my 35mm f/1.4 lens. I really love your video eye..very creative indeed! :-) Oh...hats off for sure!
Benjamin Kanarek thank you so much! I do love the 35mm but sometimes it’s fun to spice things up a bit 💁🏻♂️ and I’ll try to keep it off haha
I’d prefer the 35 too much more versatile focal length with a decent amount of bokeh when needed with excellent close focus ability.
Love my 35 1.4 it’s always with me. But the 56 looks awesome as well.
I’m really curious to try the 35 1.4 it sounds glamorous
Hat off. Nice video
Thank you John ✌🏼
Lovely video and images.
I use a Jupiter 3 from 1951 (50mm f1,5) for my street images.
Love the isolation on my Mft cameras.
Keep up the good work. Regards Ulf
That sounds amazing dude! I can imagine a proper unique vibe from that setup! Thank you so much! 👊🏼👊🏼
Nice
Great video. I’ll have to get a 56 1.2 Hat 🎩 off.
Thank you so much!! 🎩🎩
HAT Off, you look great without it :)
Haha thank you! I will try ✌🏼
FIFTY THIKTH MM. good content bro! :D

Hat on! 👍🏼🤙🏼
Yes!💪🏼
Wear the hat or not, it’s up to you, no one else!
Hahaha think I’ll just shave my hair 🤷🏻♂️
Great review! :)
Thank you so much! I’ve had this lens for awhile now and I’m really loving it! ✌🏼
HVRIS do you create your YT content on your Fuji camera too? What do you think about the lack of IBIS
HVRIS do you create your YT content on your Fuji camera too? What do you think about the lack of IBIS?
Gracias.!!!
You are welcome! 🙏🏼
Nice video, agreed, the 56mm f/1.2 is my fave lens for street portraits. Oh and no hat :-)
Yes! Street portraits are incredible with this lens and I’ll make sure to try and have no hat haha ✌🏼😂
THANK YOU- I keep telling him no hat!
What's with the downvotes? Great video!
🤷🏻♂️ Thank you!
Must not buy this lens... must not... must not...please my wallet ...great vid man and pics are dope such a dreamy lens!
😂😂 you will definitely buy this at some point haha! Thanks bro! We will make a vid with this lens don’t worry
As well as the 16mm 1.4
Oh man! Don’t tempt me haha
HVRIS you know, I have been a Canon user for many years and it took years before I had my line of good Canon glass. I purchase an XT3 three months ago, fell in love with it, and I already getting my 4th lens, which is the 16mm 1.4...it should be with me by Saturday and I cannot wait.
Oh man! I know how you feel. I built up quite a canon collection and it’s only been like 4/5 months I’ve been experiencing Fuji and it’s changed my whole work in a positive light
Oh and hat off, don't you dare hide that sexy hair from us!
Hahaha ok ok! 👨🏻
THANK YOU I KEEP TELLING HIM TO KEEP THE HAIR
