I love the way you made that POV and great photos as well. That lens is really on my radar ,there is something very pleasing with this focal lenght for street photography.. Thank you .
85mm is really underappreciated for street photography. I love shooting 28mm as well, but being able to step a bit back from the scene offers some unique opportunities: isolating the subject more, being less of a disturbance to the scene, and more freedom to play with depth of field immediately come to mind. When I was in Asakusa on vacation a few weeks ago I actually played around a bit with the 50-140 so I kind of took the idea to the extreme! Another place idea I found to be a fun challenge was taking an ultrawide zoom (10-24 f4) to the western part of Shinjuku around the Metropolitan Government and other nearby sky scrapers. It was a very sunny afternoon so their was a wonderful contrast between light and shadow. Plus, it was a Sunday afternoon so it wasn't too busy, so it presented a great opportunity to isolate people along the broad avenues and walkways among these massive buildings. Of course the area is also wonderful for more of an architecture focus as well!
I actually got started with street photography with an 85 mm, so it’s always been one of my favorite focal lengths and where I feel most comfortable. It’s especially nice in Asakusa so that I don’t have to walk write up inside the Izakaya to isolate people and get shots 😅 And yeah, Shinjuku has a lot of nice architecture for ultra-wide stuff. I don’t have anything wider than 28 mm at the moment, but even that is fun for doing some architectural street shooting. Have a nice weekend :)
Love the Sacred Elephant Counseling Room!! Colors are so vibrant it seems almost a waste to go to B&W. I've often used the 56mm at night and find it satisfying. And there were so many shots I would have made that you didn't!!! Sort of frustrating, but different visions, I guess. Overall, well done video; I enjoyed it.
I’m glad you enjoyed it ☺️ and yeah, I kinda know what you mean hahah. I sometimes watch other TH-camrs and wonder why they don’t shoot what I see 🤷♂️😂 different people see different things!
Hi James , I always like your street photography style, especially at night and rain ...thumb up... and may I ask about what's the music name of piano sonata at this video from beginning to 4'50" ? Thanks
Well, it’s subjective, but I find that I’m happy using it up to ISO 6400. I might be able to push it a bit more, but I’ve never felt a need to yet. AF in low light is fine, though tracking moving subjects may be hit or miss depending on the lighting. Overall, I’m satisfied with it though.
Sadly anything above 3200 is bad compared to a T2, 3 or 4. AF-C is still too sluggish for a 1700 bucks camera. Hoping for the X-T6 to replace my T2. For AF-S you don’t need a new cam. Frankly for AF-C you don’t need either.
BEAUTIFUL work and narrative and trip thru the streets
Thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed it 😁
Great for street photography without spooking people !
Indeed it is!

I really appreciate the kind words! Yeah! It’s a fun lens to use. I haven’t been using it as much recently, but it’s still among my favorites ☺️

looking forward to picking up one of these used at map camera when I go in May.
My go to place for picking up used gear 😁
Loved the video ! Including footage from another camera than the gopro is great, it really feels more immersive, these little scenes are great !
Glad you thought so! That's what I was hoping for with this video, to give you a better sense of what it's like walking around there as I was :)
I have the same lens and love using it for street photography, especially night time for candidate shots.
It’s a fun lens to use eh? 😁
Lovely video…it has a cinematic quality that I like
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you :)
perfect video
Thank you!
Great video!
Thank you!
wow! how do you get your XT5 footage so clean??
great video by the way
Thank you! It was a combination of holding it as steady as I could and adding some stabilization in post with Final Cut Pro ☺️
all handheld??
beautiful.
Yep, all handheld :)

I’m glad you enjoy my videos :)
Hmm I honestly can’t say. It’s been a few months, so I don’t recall the titles of the tracks I used anymore. Sorry 😅
The portfolio shot is at 7:08. Cheers from Ireland.
Thank you very much :)
I was going to say the same thing! Fantastic scene and perfect balance of color.
Appreciate it :)
trying to save money so i can get an xt2 with a decent lens, can't wait
My personal favorite Fuji lenses are the 23 1.4 and 33 1.4. Can’t go wrong with either one. Hope you get your XT2 soon 😁
"Was there any image processing in the post-production, or was it straight out of the camera?"
I always edit my images in post.
@@jamesford_jp The photos and videos are beautiful. Are there any settings parameters you can recommend?
amazing content!!, i would love to see the parameters of the photos taken.
Thank you! And noted :)
Until what ISO is the Fuji XT 5 usable, without the noise being very evident? And how is its focus in low light...

Look at some classic artistic shots throughout history. They’re all 10x more grainy than our cameras. If you expose properly, noise is a non issue.
A lot of people are complaining about the poor AF on this lens. Is it an issue? Beautiful pics btw!
It works well enough for my needs. The only real could complaint I have is that it's a bit noisy, so it's not ideal for video.
THE NEW 56????
Yes, the WR version :)

The AF works well enough for me.
