      Scott was referring to a Scottish antique sword basket hilted circa 1700's.

    I like this. Don't always need the lights. The Enterprise stands alone as an icon. Lights or no lights, it can't be anything but the Enterprise. Nice work Mark.

    When i was a kid in the 60's/early 70's i was a star trek fan but had to hide it. I had a USS Enterprise model from Zellers in the 70's. To see today your models and knowledge in 2023 was unthinkable in my day. Well done
    PS mine had the nacelle leg tabs that broke or broke loose when you looked at them :)

    Great video, Mark! Even without lights, the 'Enterprise' is a beautiful vessel. And you are a Master of making models of her look REAL. *Bravo* , Admiral Myers!

    Gary's masks are amazing and a labor of love for sure.
    This is a really beautiful job.
    I also love the Pike-prise the best as well.
    I ordered a 3D printed Pike-prise bridge off shapeways and it's really amazing.

    Wonderful work. I’m 64 and plan on building the production version with the same kit. Thanks for all the detail. I remember watching the series many times for many years after original airings. To the point of remembering a lot of the lines said in episodes. We didn’t get a color TV well until my early High School years. So my plans are to paint the kit white gray (a standard mixed color by various vendors) since our black n white TV made the Enterprise white to me. I remember very well building the AMT versions of the Enterprise and Klingon Battle cruiser. Anyway, I just thought I’d drop you a note given how beautiful your kit turned out. I’m kicking around putting in some tiny laser pen lights off of Amazon to simulate phasers firing. Looking forward to getting started once all the part upgrades arrive. Best Jason

    Beautiful detailed work looks perfect. I also am a star track fan. I also put models together and I have the original enterprise. You do a lot better job . Excellent piece Thank you for the video.😊 also wanted to mention that the type of injection molding material that they used it was a glow in the dark and I don’t know what the material was called that the plastic but that’s when you were talking about matching up the paints and all that I thought maybe they had the the model was intended to be able to glow in the dark but apparently I might’ve been wrong on that. I know they did lotta models that way.

    Superb work. Wished that I had 10% of your talent for those type projects.
    The one question that has always bothered me was what is the official color of the Enterprise.

    • @THETHIRDMODELSMM
      @THETHIRDMODELSMM  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you very much indeed! The color of the Enterprise changed from the pilots to the production version. Un fortunately ALL the colors need to be mixed and air brushed, if, you're like me and want it as accurate as possible!

      I was only aware that " The neck" was blue only a few years ago.

  • @JMChladek

    So your coloring seems very much like a straight cool tint gray with no hint of green at all then. I experimented with a similar color years ago by mixing some aluminum in with the base gray to get that and until I gave it a clear coat, the paint had some chameleon properties depending on the lights.

    • @THETHIRDMODELSMM
      @THETHIRDMODELSMM  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I mixed my colors based on info shared to me by Gary Kerr. I wanted it to be as spot on as It could be, based on this scale. The Green doesn't show up until the final production version. you can compare with my work on my production version with the spinning nacelle engines!

    Excellent job! I think you're right about no lights as well... doesn't really need it. Had no idea there were so many changes leading up to the 11 foot filming model. The stencil job on the top looks perfect. Is the stencil available somewhere?

    • @THETHIRDMODELSMM

      Thanks! Yes...you can get the stencil for ALL the markings at Maskdesign!

    I appreciate and respect your attention to detail as well as being as authentic to the studio model as possible. I looked at an article from the Smithsonian and they listed the Pilot color as Sherwin Williams "Babbling Brooke". I picked it up and built a 1:1000 TOS Constitution as the first pilot, but the color looked more grey than the blue- grey your custom paint shows. Do you agree with the Sherwin Williams color?

    • @THETHIRDMODELSMM
      @THETHIRDMODELSMM  9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I mixed my colors and Air Brushed them. I have no idea what the Sherwin Williams color looks like in person.

    Wonderful…I’ll just send you my kit and all the extras I bought for it….I’ll never make mine this beautiful.. question…what clear coat did you use …brand and finish?

    • @THETHIRDMODELSMM
      @THETHIRDMODELSMM  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the kind words! For the final clear finish, I used TAMIYA Clear Semi Gloss!

    Love your enterprise models.. if you watch the episode "mirror mirror" the new cgi version..the use a cgi version of the first pilot enterprise..I think that was a good contrast between the two universes. Hey maybe you could do that version too🙂

    I use flat Lt. gull grey

    • @THETHIRDMODELSMM
      @THETHIRDMODELSMM  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      As mentioned, the color is elusive and can't be achieved by a pre mixed color, You have to mix and Airbrush. However, your milage may vary!

    I’m building my pilot series now. My kit only came with 7 or those 8 square vents on the pilons . Weird there wasn’t even legs on the parts tree for the 8th one it was like 4 in a row and 3 almost like it was a factory error . Was this the case in your kit as well ?

    • @THETHIRDMODELSMM
      @THETHIRDMODELSMM  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      My kit had everything it was supposed to supply for the assembly. Contact Round 2.They very good at getting replacement parts out to you in a timely manner.

    That is the BEST version of the old gal . Well done! I follow you on Facebook and am always beyond impressed with your work! So I am still relatively new to all this. Do not have an airbrush at the moment. Which model would you suggest? And do you have any color suggestions for this version? Many thanks!

      Thanks for the kind words...I am glad you follow my work! I use an IWATA Double action Gravity feed Air Brush and IWATA Compressor. Love them! Unfortunately I don't have any suggestions for a possible rattle can color...I tried and they were all wrong! Thanks again...and spread the word!!
