Thank you for these great builds. This has been VERY informative. I do have a couple of questions with one area I just can't understand, and no one else seems to explain. In the beginning of this video you explain the dilemma with the gluing of both halves of the saucer. What I just can't understand, is why don't you simply wait to paint the saucer until both hales are glued together. Would that just make things easier? Can you please explain to me why it seems that every Star Trek builder always paint's the pieces before gluing, which seems to be more work in the end. Also, how are you using model glue once these parts are "pre-painted"? I'm told that model glue only works on clean plastic, not painted plastic. This really confuses me. Can you please explain?
Hi….the main answer to your question are the windows and portholes. They would be very difficult to mask due to their size and number. As for glue, I do my best to leave the places where glue will be applied clear of paint. I hope that helps and thanks for your kind comments. Hi Justin. There are quite a few videos out there, can't say I can recommend one in particular. A few hints that I've learned over the years. Gloss coating the model prior to application is important. I used to not think so but it avoids silvering caused by uneven adhesion. The gloss can be eliminated with dull coat after application. The softening liquids are also critical for surfaces with uneven or varying contour. Hope that helps.
Thank you RT.....yeah that's exactly the feeling when I connected it and the nacelle wasnt lighting up. Thank goodness it was the board and not the LED. Thanks for the compliment and for watching
I just began this build, and like you, I cut out the 4 large window areas on the top of the saucer. Were you happy with the canopy glue? You had mentioned that it didn't seem to be drying clear.
I'm sorry for the late reply. A better option would be UV light curing resin. www.michaels.com/product/signature-crafts-light-cure-uv-resin-092oz-M20001814
When you applied your final clear coat sealand did you have to mask off the nacelle domes, bridge dome and window and all of the other windows or did you just spray over the entire model?

Actually the camcorder mic seemed to really amplify the sound. They're really not that loud especially when compared to the 350 scale motors. Thanks for watching
Hey Oggie, great build! Just one question: How often do you have to change your batteries in any/all of your built kits and do you find it difficult to do?
Hey Shannon.....not often since I don't really keep them on very long. I do check them monthly just to make sure they're not going bad but other than that they can last quite a while. If this one were to be kept on I estimate it may last an hour. The motors chew up a lot of power. I also try to position them in the build with changing them in mind so it's not too hard if you plan ahead. Thanks Shannon.
@@InterstellarModeler The greater concern with batteries is how often do you USE them if they're still plugged into a pack situation. I've had batteries rupture inside remotes and other electronics and you're lucky if it doesn't damage the electronics! If I know I'm NOT going not to use remotes regularly, I don't leave batteries in them. For other things that still have the batteries inside, I power up briefly and discharge to "wear down" the batteries. As long as you do that regularly, the batteries won't rupture. It's when you don't touch things for months or years the danger will always there that the battery will rupture if it doesn't get discharged regularly. I've been lucky that in every situation I've had battery ruptures, my remotes and electronic devices were lying in such a way the chemical did not spill onto PCB's. At worst, they whitened the contact areas of metal that touches the batteries but even that metal was still conducting a current after I cleaned it as best as I could.
@@InterstellarModeler the Tena Controls LED bustard collector looks ok on the fastest setting to me but I really like the motorised version in the kit you show here. Any thoughts as to whether some or all of this lighting kit would fit in the TOS Enterprise 1/1000?
Strip lights: parallel wired junctions would work on the 4.5 volt supply with the caveat that battery life would be reduced. Don’t try strip lights if the are wired in series.

I like the way the ship turned out if you want to build another one and use the light strips I would be more than glad to send you the money and have you billed the kit for me I love the way your ship turned out with my seizures and trimmers it would be very hard for me to do such good work
Hi Kerry....I'm afraid I don't do commission builds. My busy schedule and upcoming projects leave little time for much else. You could always check some of the Facebook sci-fi model pages to see if anyone would be interested. Starshipmodeler, hobbylink international are a couple of good fbook pages to check out. Thanks for the comment. Take care
Another fantastic job. I'll be starting this on in January. Nice to see you made it thru the episode alive. (Red shirt). Lol
Thank you Marc and Happy Holidays! Yes always a risk with the red shirt LOL....luckily I only wear it when recording myself on camera LOL
@@InterstellarModeler a Merry Christmas to you and your Wonderful family
Did the motors for the bussard collector get quieter once assembled? They seemed a little loud in the last video.
Actually the camcorder mic seemed to really amplify the sound. They're really not that loud especially when compared to the 350 scale motors. Thanks for watching
@@InterstellarModeler Thank you for the reply and have a merry Christmas.
@@robertjensen1094 You're welcome and Merry Christmas to you too
Hey Oggie, great build!
@@AvengerII appreciate the info thanks
We need a TOS enterprise lighting kit
Tena controls does make one for quite a few scales. tenacontrols.com/product-category/star-trek/tos-ncc-1701/
@@InterstellarModeler oh wow really! Ill look now thanks 😁
@@InterstellarModeler the Tena Controls LED bustard collector looks ok on the fastest setting to me but I really like the motorised version in the kit you show here. Any thoughts as to whether some or all of this lighting kit would fit in the TOS Enterprise 1/1000?
nice build
Thank you very much
I wish these models already have the lighting installed. All I want to do is collect the ships.
thanks for the comment.
Looks fuckin excellent. Bussard collectors turned out great.
Thanks
Strip lights: parallel wired junctions would work on the 4.5 volt supply with the caveat that battery life would be reduced. Don’t try strip lights if the are wired in series.
Great tip, thanks
aaahahaha too much glue! I feel you!! it happens to me so often... like you said, you think after so many models you would know better but nope... Anyway, great build!! Merry Christmas from Vienna!
I know right? Of all the things....jeez.....Lol. Thank you and Merry Christmas to you from Southern CA. Hope the New Year brings good things for you too.
Do the NX-01 refit
Thanks. I did the 1/1000 refit. Pretty much all I have room for lol. Thank for watching
Very nice.
Thank you
Beautify kit. Hit it
Thanks for the compliment
Ni e job. I may have to give this kit a try. Of all the Constitution Class redesigns, this is the only one I don't hate. (I'm quite opinionated on that subject. Lol)
Lol....you and me both. Why mess with perfection right? This is a very nice design though and it’s good that Pike is kicking off with the major star of the show looking right. Thanks for watching. I think you’d enjoy the kit.
