2022 Review for the Nintendo Switch & Switch OLED! th-cam.com/video/_G5dtbYrnXY/w-d-xo.html The Switch Lite is awesome! But it doesn't "Switch"- so that's the big pressing point on whether or not you get this Switch over the normal one. Apologies for the delay on uploads, I've been dealing with COVID since around New Year's... fun stuff. Luckily I recorded this video before I got sick so I don't sound like I'm on my deathbed. (Well, to the same extent.) I'm through the worst of it now and will no doubt be back to making videos as soon as I can. So, a belated happy new year to you all, here's to a great 2022!
I finally got a regular Switch in Jan 2022 after eyeing it for two years. I was interested in the "Switch" aspect of the Switch. I do a lot of road tripping where I like separating the controllers out for a number of reasons. I don't actually own a TV so I would only even use that at a friend's house. But I like to tabletop the tablet part and playing via a controller. You can also use the joycons for Wii-like motion play for some games. The lite takes away most of my primary reasons for wanting a Switch.
There is this HDMI dock for the Switch lite, for a little less than 30 bucks on Ebay. I came across it, just after upgrading to the OLED. I gave my old Switch Lites to my sisters.
While I do eventually wanna get a proper home console, the fact that the Switch Lite offers a fully portable option over its regular and OLED counterpart is something I like the most. I grew up with mostly portable handhelds, especially the 3DS line. As a result the Switch Lite is basically perfect for me and I can't ask for anything better. Hoping that we do maybe get a Switch Pro of some kind, a Switch pro Lite sounds pretty cool IMO.
The light has the only real d pad not counting pro or special controllers just stock joycons don't have it and I think the ergonomics and that d pad are BY FAR better than the regular switch or switch OLED ( I have all 3 to compare) IF you are using it as a handheld or on the go.. IF your doing portable without a doubt lite is much better and way cheaper
I just purchased a Swithc Lite a few days ago. And I've got to say, I'm in love with it!! It is totally worth it, cause I wanted it as a handheld console. So I fully recommend it to anyone!
As a avid traveler, the switch lite is absolutely ideal, one compact piece of kit and i have my gaming anywhere, perfect for flights and long bus trips!
I got a Lite shortly after they were released because I’ve really only ever been interested in handheld consoles. I’ve really enjoyed it, but just ordered the OLED. In addition to being concerned about potential joycon drift, I’m upgrading after starting to play more “big screen games” with visual details in their images/artwork that I know aren’t coming across as well on the small screen, and because I expect it will be more ergonomic to play games docked.
I have a Switch Lite and I love it! Yes, I've sometimes found myself wishing I could hook it up to my TV, but as someone who doesn't play very often anyway (I only use it to play Animal Crossing and some free games from the e-shop), it's been overall pretty worth it to me!
I’ve been thinking of doing exactly what you are doing with my only game I’ll pay for being animal crossing and I would like to know if you ever wish you could get new games aside from the free-to-play ones? That’s the main thing keeping me back from buying one as of right now
@@Crunchy_Sunscreen I'd say Mario Kart is the only game I'm kinda fomo about. You can technically play it on the lite but you still miss out on a lot of features, not to mention AC has taken up like all my storage lol
My reasons for getting the Lite is that I'm a twin and my sister and I can each play Pokemon Shield and Sword independently. We have always done that for all Pokemon games. I've also loved the DS systems over the consoles so I'm glad they still kept to their roots and created this option too.
I've had the Switch and now the lite. I prefer the lite because it's truly portable and has access to the massive library of superb games. When I only had the full sized Switch I found it a bit bulky for travelling with and left it back home quite often. The big need for mobility comes from my long term use of my 3DS (truly portable) and my ownership of the Xbox and Playstation. I recommend the lite over the full size unless you don't have the competing consoles.
Agreed with the PS5 and Series X plugged into my TV I really didn’t have a need for the dock, plus I never have friends over so there’s no point in using it for party games. Honestly I got the switch for monster hunter rise and mobility. the lite is probably my most used console it literally goes everywhere with me I love it 😂
My only concern what will you do if you have problem with any buttons ? , because in normal one you can change the joystick . I was wondering if you can connect to external joystick
@@ttalah2964 Keep your switch in guarantee. I did change the sticks on my old switch and it was both cheap and easy. My lite was bought from CeX, who give 2 years warranty on all products. After 2 years simply trade in your console and then buy it back, extending your warranty once again. Any problems and they fix them. Sure there's a cost involved but the warranty is worth every penny.
The switch lite is amazing. Loved mine but recently traded it in for the OLED. I play while it’s quiet at work and that small screen size increase makes a huge difference. Wish I could afford to have both as laying in bed at night was way more comfy with the Lite
I got a Switch Lite recently and have been really enjoying it. No way I can play on the TV in my shared apartment so handheld play was really my only option. The Switch Lite was exactly what I was looking for from Nintendo.
I like to think about it this way and it may also help you with your purchase decision. The switch is more like the sucessor to the Wii/Wii u line. But the switch light is more the sucessor to the DS/3DS line. I owned a Gameboy SP and later a DS growing up as a kid. We had a wii also but I spent most of my time on the DS. So I went with the switch light and I haven't regretted it!
I see the Switch more as a handheld console that can play console level games, so the switch lite is just perfect for that. Wish the battery life was a bit better though
I recently picked up a pre-owned switch lite for a great deal, excellent option for just portable games on the go. Definitely catered to a different audience. I don’t like Joycons at all to be honest, they feel too flimsy and loose after a while. Only issues I would say is the small screen and expensive games!
Got a used gray Switch Lite for about $160 after tax with some accessories included on eBay. Absolutely love playing indie games on it. I've spent countless hours playing Stardew Valley on this device while laying down in bed. Nintendo's brilliant for releasing the lite at a cheaper price than the other models to get people to play Switch games at an affordable price, cause I got hooked onto the Nintendo library of games and eventually got a Switch-OLED to play party games like Smash, mario party, and Mario Kart 8 deluxe. Now I got multiple Switch consoles, just like nintendo wanted lol
It’s pretty much the only model I use. My lite was a day one purchase, and maybe I’ve been lucky, but even after years of heavy use, the joysticks are perfectly fine.
I really like the lite. I currently have the OLED model, and I’m considering picking up the lite as well due to its portability. The size makes it very convenient.
I love my Switch Lite as it's definitely "Lite-r" than the regular Switch my brother has which feels flimsier as you said in the video. I sometimes wish I could play my games on the TV or Monitor but I generally play my Switch Lite on my bed laying down.
Some of my best experiences and memories with my Switch is playing docked with friends. I could never give that up. My mom has a Lite and loves it so the Lite is the right option for some people. I just wish Nintendo released a joycon for the regular Switch that has the Lite dpad.
I bought one around the time they launched, still use it, would a bigger screen, within the same body by nice? Yes. I love the solid feel and the color range. It also gives off old school GBC vibes. Some games struggle on the thing, I’ve heard of people getting choppy res on BotW but for me it was still a great play.
Xenoblade 2: Torna the golden country struggles a bit too. I be alway had Nintendo products so I was a aware to the less powerful versions of games but it was JUST blurry enough to make me enjoy it less. Another problem is No Straight Roads. When you do a finisher with Zuke and Maday the graphics are horifficly blurry. Also the fight against the boy band Ten10 is obvious too.
From what I can see, the graphics are sharper because it’s a smaller screen but all of the internals are the same except for missing the components for video out, so there’s no difference in performance between a lite and regular switch, I like playing on both depending on whether a game is better with a d pad and sometimes I don’t mind the smaller screen because the visuals are a little more sharper
@@PatrickThomasBrady I can only speak anecdotally, but Black Sad runs way better and smoother on my cousins larger regular switch compared to my lite. On the lite it can get rough at times.
@@Alexwhatisit I’m not sure how that even happens when they both have the exact same internals, same cpu, same gpu, same ram, I’m not saying you’re lying but I don’t know what the problem is, iv never seen any difference in performance
@@Alexwhatisit That's not possible unless something is happening internally inside the switch like overheating etc, they both have the exact same specs, it's literally the same performance like everyone else is telling you.
Another great video, Josh! Subject, content, delivery and presentation, all very professional. This helped me understand the difference in the “Switch” line, as we got our grandkids (both boys) one, and of course they got the “regular” switch. They love it. You must spend an incredible amount of time editing your videos, I can definitely appreciate the “behind the scenes” work that goes into any type of production. Cheers young man!
Honestly guys, I love my switch lite. The size is fantastic, it’s super comfortable, etc. However, mine has developed major drift issues after just a year of owning it. Considering that Nintendo wants to charge me $100 dollars to fix the problem, it’s very hard to see how the switch lite is worth it right now since joy-con repairs are fee for this issue. This is why I recently ordered an oled
@@urukadooedwards7637 it’s been hard for me to find genuine replacements. And despite how confident I may be, I’m not willing to risk breaking my switch
After they discontinued the 3ds, this is what we needed. A true portable console that actually feels comfortable in hand. The fat switch is too big and heavy for extended play sessions
I have a Switch Lite and I love it. I never planned on playing on the TV, but I do wish there was a way to with the Lite. I do somewhat regret not getting just a regular Switch, but since I mainly play Pokémon buying a second Switch will have it's benefits. I can play one of the two versions on both consoles and trade myself Pokémon that are version exclusives or Pokémon that need to be traded for evolving. So yeah I love the Switch enough to have two for myself lol.
I had the regular Switch, but traded it for a Switch Lite. Why? Much more comfortable handheld experience, in my opinion. It feels more solid, and the fact that I never connected my original Switch to the TV was a clear indication that I'd probably be better off with the Lite. I've had my Lite for nearly three years now, and whilst I was slightly tempted/curious when the OLED model came out, I still love my Switch Lite. Moving forward, I'm hoping Nintendo will release an upgraded or pro version of the Lite, fingers crossed!
I have both the OG model and a lite. I love both. The OG I use on the TV and when I play portably, I use the Lite because it is more comfortable to use on the go than the OG. I would use it when we travel, not that that happens a lot right now, but I have brought it camping. I do agree though. If you do not have a switch at all, get the non-lite version, be it the OLED or the non-OLED model. I love mine, but it serves as being my portable option. I still play lots on the OG on my TV.
Switch lite is a slapper . I’m not a huge Nintendo guy but I love this little thing . My deciding factor for getting the switch lite was that when I sit down in front of a tv screen I’m gonna play my Xbox series x .
I understand. I got the Switch Lite because I'm cheap and want dedicated handheld console. If I want to play games with the console hooking up to a tv I would play a different console especially for 3rd party games. 1st party game on the Lite are great anyways.
@@edgaryzen4925 lite owner talking like normal switch can't be played handheld. Lol. Especially when the lite screen is so tiny and pain in the ass reading any text on the lite
@@bab2thebone1 Yup. I don't get the concept of buying current 3rd party game for an inferior console intended to play at home only. Seem irrational to me.
I just want Nintendo to release full-sized Joy-Cons that have the design and feel of the Switch Lite Joy-Cons. They are, hands down, the best Joy-Cons made in that regard. The engraved lettering across the board, triggers feeling significantly better and the best D-Pad Nintendo has ever made. These with the full size of a standard Joy-Con, Gyro and HD Rumble would be an immediate sale for me. I really do believe the design of these specific Joy-Cons is severely wasted. The moment I first used a Switch Lite, I thought they were infinitely better than the original Joy-Cons.
I’m personally a controller gamer, so I love the new kickstand in the OLED model allowing tabletop and even lap gameplay! Also, I mainly okay Super Mario Galaxy, and it’s handheld gameplay is absolutely abysmal
I have both the OLED and a Switch Lite, I prefer the lite model to take on the go as it's a lot more portable thanks to its slightly smaller size. I tend to leave my OLED hooked to my TV and use it in hand held mode when just lounging on my bed. I have the Satisfye ZenGrip Pro for both the OLED and Lite models and it makes playing in handheld much more comfortable. Only issue I have with both is in some games the text is extremely small and difficult to read even with 2x reading glasses.
Love the Switch Lite, it perfectly compliments my Xbox Series S as that is my home console as my portable/chilling on the couch and on the go system. Love the Sega/N64 expansion packs.
I have the series s and I'm thinking about doing the same. I also still have a PS4, but would replace it with the switch lite. The drifting problem makes me a little paranoid tbh.
I bought a switch lite before I had a TV... then I got a TV and now I wish I had just spent the extra $100. Recently I had to decide between buying $200 of games for the lite or selling my lite and buying a switch OLED and surprisingly enough I chose to just buy more games for the lite. It's a great little system I kind of view it as just a better successor to the gameboy and DS.
I got mine almost 2 years ago, I like it a lot better than the regular switch. Yeah I wish it could connect to the TV (tho I prefer handhelds in general) but it’s a lot more comfortable size both for bringing it around and for holding it. Also the buttons feel so much nicer to press imo
@@davudtowers I'd heavily reccomend buying one, but beware of drift, I haven't experienced it myself but I hear its a problem for some people on the lite since you cant just swap out the joycons
I own a PS5 so I don’t really want another console for my TV. I’ve been considering getting a Switch Lite for a while now and I’m almost convinced to buy one
The switch lite works great for my situation. I am able too be around and spend time with family. Plus if my wife wants to play hers or watch her shows I can use mine. Plus it's so much easier to pack on trips
I first got the Lite but later the regular version to play on the TV. It is nice how portable it is though and feels better for portable play than the big switch.
you can just get a stand for the switch lite to play in tabletop mode with a wireless controller so you dont have to mess with the analog sticks on the switch lite.
I honestly like my Switch Lite,I’d rather play on the go. It does it’s job. Yoshi’s Crafted World,Mario + Rabbids, etc. is fun on the switch lite and I like the D-Pad.
@@something2941 No. But you can buy a cheaper Sonic Game with it:) Or pick up a eShop card. Theres a lot of wonderful cheap games on there that’ll come up to or even less then the base Switch
I like my switch lite. I casually play video games and I play video games alone. So, I don’t need a full size switch. The switch lite was a good way for me to play animal crossing and BOTW without spending too much money.
I just got my Nintendo Switch Lite last week and I LOVE IT! FIrst I love how small it is makes it easy to fit inside any of my bags. Plus I don’t mind not having the tv dock feature I mean the main purpose of the Switch why it’s been a HUGE success is you can play on the go.
It's a switch. Nintendo's newest system. Of course it's worth it. I'm glad nintendo made the switch lite because it a great budget switch that still plays all the games the regular switch plays Edit: also hands down if you gonna buy a lite get the pokemon diamond and pearl one. It looks way more premium compared to the others
I bought the Dialga and Palkia switch lite and it’s gone everywhere with me since, I like the normal switch but I needed something truly portable. with an EDC, wallet, keys, phone, work phone, and my medical supplies the full size switch was just a little too big. If you want a switch to just take around I highly recommend the lite.
I have a gaming pc I wanted a switch lite for when i’m on the go. Growing up on Nintendo it nice to have access to all of the Nintendo exclusives. But I also find myself laying back playing it because it’s more comfortable
Ths. Same reason I got the switch. I got the lite because battery is the most important factor. I needed it to last about 6 hours for my flight to california.
I got Switch Lite about 3 months ago, and its my first Switch. I went to buy it with a thought that I will get a Switch OLED pretty soon and I will sell Lite, but after these months of owning Lite... the attaction of OLED kind of went down, and I dont really know if I want to buy OLED anymore... because Lite is amazing and I just dont think that I need OLED. Maybe I will get OLED someday, but so far... Im just happy with Lite. I like the turqoise color, and Satisfye grip made is so comfortable to play on it.
I got OLED last November. Tempted to buy Pokemon DP Edition Lite. Ordered one. Kinda say both pretty good for me. Lite is really best hand-held especially outside or before sleeping. OLED is really really for long playing time session.
Yeah, this video pretty much sums up what I thought the pros and cons of having the Lite and why I inevitably went with the normal Switch instead. The smaller form factor and tighter pixel density is nice and I'm sure having an actual d-pad is appreciated too. But, the regular Switch is still portable, can be played on a TV, Joy-Con can be swapped out for a new pair if you have drift and the portable screen is bigger. Its worth the extra $100 or $150 for the OLED.
Remove the plastic bars on your switch games it causes an error more. And if you safely remove the game then you could buy a plastic protection area and replace it.
I got my Switch in 2017 and my Lite in 2020. I almost never touch my regular Switch anymore. The Switch Lite is just so nice and comfortable to play on for pretty much any game. Id say multiplayer is the bigger thing to consider when deciding between the two. I don't even consider playing on the tv anymore but i keep my regular Switch for the odd occasion i play something multiplayer.
For me it was the opposite. I ended up selling the Lite because due to Covid, we hardly traveled anymore, so the portability form factor became redundant. Why would you play a game on a smaller screen when you are stuck at home with a 50 inch TV available? But each to their own, it is great to see the Lite on it's own sell as well as it did.
It’s the opposite for me because I really like playing on my tv cause I bought a wired controller so I don’t have a joycon drift problem anymore (I’m too broke for new joycons lol) but the controller needs to be wired up to the dock so if I wanna use it I gotta play in tv mode (I have a regular switch btw)
I think I'll buy a Switch Lite. As of June 27, 2022, the Lite version costs $260 CAD in Canada. The regular version costs $380 CAD, and the OLED version is $450 CAD... which is insane tbh. If I bought a Lite version + a brand new game, it would still cost less than the regular version alone. And since I don't intend to play on my TV at all, the choice is easy to make.
After over a year of loving the lite I regretted not being able to hook it up to a monitor or TV like you said. In Feb, I came down with covid and got the OLED and loved it but after only a month I got joycon drift. If there was no issue with joycons messing up I'd make the normal/OLED the winner but since I never had issues with my lite it's a hard choice because of the durability
I’ve was meaning to buy a switch but I didn’t really know which one to buy but I’m pretty glad I saw this cause if I wasn’t going to buy a switch I’d rather would’ve bought a 3ds for the nostalgia but I’m pretty glad with the lite so everything worked out in the end.
Ditto first got a blue lite than the tv model the year after. Love both for things they shine in! I will keep my lite as long as i play switch! Portable at its best!
I’ve wanted a Nintendo Switch since launch and when Lite came out I was so excited for the OG Nintendo Switch but I didn’t get THE OG I got Lite on Christmas and I couldn’t have been more happy to get the Lite I can not live without it.
I’ve never had the “drift” problem, opposite really, I’ve had a “lock” problem. Where the joycon will only half way input my command, and it feels like I’m locked from going in a direction.
I’ve also had this issue, on the left Joycon that came with my OLED Switch. I was really disappointed, seeing as I had only played the switch a handful of times, at that point.
As a mainly PC gamer I chose the lite over the normal switch because I play mainly on PC. I use the lite as secondary console which I play from time to time and the lite does that job perfectly at a low price. Plus you can use the 100$ you would've used on the normal switch for a game.
I've had mine for 2 years and don't regret getting a switch lite over the original, I am not a big gamer I play Pokemon, animal crossing and some retro games it's a nice size and weight. The battery life doesn't really matter to me either as I don't take it out much so I can either play it plugged in or I just take a break from playing while it charges.
I got a switch lite last year for Christmas. I’d day it’s definitely money saving. I used to play a lot of video games last year when I was still in high school. But now that I’m in college and working part time, I barley have time for video games. Haha.
Don't know why portable systems are underrated but have always been amazing the gameboy the advance the ds the 3ds all amazing, the weight is a very important factor for a portable system i think that the lite is better than the oled because of that for portable gaming i believe is much better
I have a switch lite and I honestly only use it at school. It's my on the go console, at home I play PS4 and Xbox one but it's great to play Nintendo games on the go.
The Switch Lite is a clever gateway into getting a normal Switch. Most people who buy the Switch Lite, who end up really enjoying the product, will usually end up upgrading. It happened to me and a few of my friends.
I don't understand why people hate switch lite it actualy has a better battery life. and I like how the switch lite feels better don't buy the regular one. The switch lites joycon is not detachable and if you fall with a nintendo switch you could break the lock on the switches detachable joycons, so I like the colours it's way better.
Got a lite, I have never yearned to plug it to my tv or to play any of the games on it on a big screen. Lying in bed roaming with Link or exploring in Axiom Verge feels so good. It makes me feel like playing games. My PS4 on the other hand is my TH-cam station, I never play on it anymore or any other tv console.
Keep in mind on the lite you can’t stream gameplay to twitch/youtube as you need to dock it and you can’t use motion sensor features of games like ring fit, mario party games, skyward swords etcetera. I had to recently upgrade to oled because of these things. That said i LOVE the coral pink switch lite, it’s almost on par with PS VITA.
Most casual gamers don't care about twitch/TH-cam and they don't stream. Some of us don't even have friends/family that are into gaming. I also don't really care about games like Ring Fit and Mario Party. I have other fitness games on other consoles and from what I've heard, Mario Party on Switch is one of the weakest Mario Party games. I have every other Mario Party game including Mario Party 10 on Wii U. I don't really care about it and I'll only buy it if it goes on sale for like $20 or something. I've found that HD Rumble is over-rated and disappointing when compared to Dualsense on PS5. I also find standard controls easier and I don't enjoy motion controls. Since I also don't have friends/family that are into gaming and I don't stream, nobody that I care about is going to be watching me, so I don't need a Switch that displays on a television. For people like us, the Switch Lite is better since we prefer the peace and privacy. It's not for everyone but it's awesome for people that don't care about those things that I mentioned.
Switch Lite is perfect for me. Travelling around the world because of work. I don't use TV coz my family uses it mainly for Netflix/YT. Playing games while using toilet.
Yes, the switch lite is definitely still worth it. I have the original switch and the new oled. I use the oled for certain games but most of the time, I use the switch lite because it’s so light weight, cute, and super comfortable to hold. Every game looks and runs great on it. Its the perfect handheld imo. Ya the oled and steam deck are top of the line atm but, they feel bulky and heavy. You might as well play on your tv with a console at that point. The point of a handheld is portability, comfortability, and light weight. The switch lite nailed it, plus it’s the cheapest handheld atm. Lastly, you don’t have the constant fear of breaking it or dropping it. It’s the perfect pick up and play console.
Do you play legend of zelda breath of the wild?? Please tell me honestly if it looks good on the switch lite or not. I'm planning to buy switch lite for zelda botw
@@dee_hfgblank1617 of course, I actually beat it on the lite. As well as skyward sword. The switch lite has a slightly sharper image then the OG switch because of the smaller screen. I think the screen size is perfect too, your eyes aren’t darting everywhere like the OLED 7in screen. Zelda games are very immersive (especially botw) which means you’ll want long gaming sessions. I’d say the go with lite cuz it’s great for comfortable long sessions and a good sharp image without having to fork out $350 for an oled that yes looks good but not comfortable for long gaming sessions. Plus you always have the fear of breaking it, it takes away the fun. You can always save up and get one down the road, of better yet wait for the next model 😏 go with the lite. If you get it from target or something, try it out and see how you like it. If you really don’t like it you can always return in, putting it back in the original wrapping is super easy. You can’t tell if it’s been opened or not. There’s no tape or things your gotta tear apart. Ya it’s not the best way to go but only do it if you absolutely regret buying it. Which I absolutely know you won’t lol
For anyone wondering there is a way to fix joycon drift now yourself too, i wont go much into details bcs u can just type into youtube how to fix a joycon drift, but basicly its putting like a little plate pretty much just as thick as credit card belove the joystick inside the switch, which puts pressure on it there for fixing the drift, because the drift is caused by wearing the joycon down by pressing the joystick as an button (pressing the joystick down)
Thanks for the video. I originally bought the 1st switch off eBay for 200.00 used and now just bought a switch lite for 120.00. My lite will be exactly for portability and my original just for home
It will be good when this has an OLED screen ... The form factor is perfect compared to all the handhelds out there ... I will pay any thing for a better screen
I grew up with a Nintendo Ds, I played for hours and hours on that tiny screen and enjoyed every second of it. Today I want something similar and I think I'll find it in a switch. My brother has the regular switch which he lends me to play with, but the red and blue part keep slipping out, stopping me mid game and sometimes even make my character stop moving and getting attacked by enemies or my car stopping mid race in Mario kart.
I had this exact same problem! I sold my original Switch a few years ago and am now thinking about getting the lite because it looks comfier and smaller to carry!
I legitimately thought that stick drift was just a meme for the longest time or something that people would use as an excuse as to why they break so many controllers. I’m 100% serious when I say that I bought my wife a Switch Lite that had stick drift out of the box. Obviously we were able to go and switch it out for free, but we ended up upgrading to a normal switch in case it happened down the line to make swapping out the sticks easier.
It was karma for you for thinking so lowly of the people who was speaking out on the rampant stick drift issues. I'm glad you wasted your time and money on the Switch Lite and taught a harsh lesson.😊
I have a Series X, a PS4, a PC with an RTX 3080, a Steam Deck, a Switch and a Switch Lite. 90% of my time gaming is on the switch lite. Best analogy I can come up with is my outdoors gear: while I've got all great stuff from brands like Marmot and Black Diamond to safely and competently ice climb in the Rockies, most of my time is spent in sweats at home or shorts and a Tshirt in town. Because it's just comfortable and casual.
I think it’s worth it, I have a switch lite and I do wanna get the OLED later, but the lite is still definitely fun and amazing for its price. I have spent more money on games than the switch itself 😂😂😂😂
it should be noted that if you use a good case on the regular Switch, it would feel just as sturdy as the Lite... and the case makes it way more comfortable...
A friend gifted me his Switch Lite because he recently got a PS5 and told me that he won't be using the Switch anymore, so while i do want a Switch OLED this will help me build a library of games for whenever i do get the OLED model.
@@LugiThePainDrinker Agreed! I was actually surprised at how big of an upgrade it is as a handheld. The stand also makes a far bigger difference than expected.
I got the mustard yellow Lite back in 2020 and I don’t regret it even thou I haven’t bought manny games for it. I have Pokémon Brilliant Diamond, Pokémon Shield, Mario Kart 8 and Monopoly. I plan on getting the Pokémon game in January and a bunch of other older switch games
The switch lite was my first switch, and the only problems I had with the lite model was the durability on the controls like the back trigger buttons (got stucked sometimes), analog sticks (got drifted), and the d-pad (cracked it open using my thumb in the middle of when I was playing DBFZ cuz of me trying to put in input commands). I had to buy a whole other switch model, which end up being the V2 model.😭
So, you mean to say that instead of listening to me, and not buying it like I warned you, you instead bought it and would up paying for your mistake twice with your wallet?! Will you do as I tell you next time?! WILL YOU?! OBEEEY MEEEEEEEEE!!!!😬
@@shinbakihanma2749 The switch that actually switches has only drift problems, but the joycons can be taken off. I might be dumb enough to get the oled too, just because it looks better.😅
@@MetaGamingDojo I actually bought the OLED a couple weeks after in launched. I traded in my old Switch, and would up paying $110 in all, out of pocket. I think it's worth what I paid for the extra features. I wouldn't have bought it at full price though.
I had a Switch v2 and I never... and I mean it, never conected it to my tv. I sold it a few days ago and bought a brand new Lite, and with the rest of the money got some ps5 games. Best thing ever.
I mostly play my games on my PS5 but I’ve been interested in a switch to play Mario and Pokémon. And I’m considering a switch lite just for that lower price point and the fact that I’m not gonna be gaming hard on it.
2022 Review for the Nintendo Switch & Switch OLED! th-cam.com/video/_G5dtbYrnXY/w-d-xo.html
The Switch Lite is awesome!
Happy 2022!
Get better soon 91Tech!!
@@Joe_334 Won't work, Switch lite doesn't have TV out hardware at all
I got a Switch Lite for Christmas, and it's such an amazing console! I never really want to play on the TV that much anyway.

@@SmallHappyOtter ...or he can actually play a real game.
I got smash bros ultimate and my mom is buying me pokemon legend arceus
While I do eventually wanna get a proper home console, the fact that the Switch Lite offers a fully portable option over its regular and OLED counterpart is something I like the most. I grew up with mostly portable handhelds, especially the 3DS line. As a result the Switch Lite is basically perfect for me and I can't ask for anything better. Hoping that we do maybe get a Switch Pro of some kind, a Switch pro Lite sounds pretty cool IMO.
switch regular is better
@@ger-f1b have you played both?
@@mahamkhan1060 yes i did
@@ger-f1b the og version is also 100$ more.
You should get hollow knight
I’ve been thinking of doing exactly what you are doing with my only game I’ll pay for being animal crossing and I would like to know if you ever wish you could get new games aside from the free-to-play ones? That’s the main thing keeping me back from buying one as of right now
@@Crunchy_Sunscreen I'd say Mario Kart is the only game I'm kinda fomo about. You can technically play it on the lite but you still miss out on a lot of features, not to mention AC has taken up like all my storage lol
@@Lia-of4vk Thanks for the information!
My reasons for getting the Lite is that I'm a twin and my sister and I can each play Pokemon Shield and Sword independently. We have always done that for all Pokemon games. I've also loved the DS systems over the consoles so I'm glad they still kept to their roots and created this option too.
Twins💛
@@dee_hfgblank1617 lol, awwh, thanks.
This is the main console I use. I love it. I don’t have a tv, so no loss with docking. This and my iPad & iPhone are perfect.
Honestly I got the switch for monster hunter rise and mobility. the lite is probably my most used console it literally goes everywhere with me I love it 😂
switch regular is better
@@ger-f1b That's up to you. I've had the regular and now the lite and the mobile only version suits my needs best. It's a great system either way.

If you get the warranty you are golden I did the same thing and love my switch
Send me your oled model so it is not wasted :)

I've gotten people countering with the drift argument. If I ever do get the drift, I'll do the same as you, get an Oled.
@@poopikins hope you don’t ever get a drift problem 👍
Newer Xbox and PS gamepads drifts too, because they all use same crap parts.
Pretty easy to fix that and the analog sticks are cheap.
Moving forward, I'm hoping Nintendo will release an upgraded or pro version of the Lite, fingers crossed!
did you ever have drift issue?
@@THEChickenNuggetoh yes. Switch lite with oled and a more powerful internals would be nuts.

My lite is amazing. Best purchase last year, great for gaming on the go for business professionals.
Just got one about 3 weeks ago. Haven't played Nintendo since the 3ds days. Glad to be back, now is a great time to buy.
One of the drawbacks to me the smaller screen size, I’m used to normal size of the switch.
I’m thinking about buying the lite, after I bought a xbox series s, I’ve felt like I wanted a hand held device.

The Switch Lite is still the best handheld on the market right now

I love my switch lite, the fact it's lighter when holding is worth more than enough. Not to mention I never used docked anyways.
It's a switch. Nintendo's newest system. Of course it's worth it. I'm glad nintendo made the switch lite because it a great budget switch that still plays all the games the regular switch plays
Edit: also hands down if you gonna buy a lite get the pokemon diamond and pearl one.

I just upgraded from an OG switch to the OLED and it is worth it. It is hard to look at the older models after seeing the OLED.
I got the Switch because I'm cheap and prioritize D pad. Who the heck gonna try very hard to persuade me otherwise. You have a point on the otherhand
But each to their own, it is great to see the Lite on it's own sell as well as it did.
good luck when your joysticks start to drift

I use both the switch and switch lite. Comfort is everything to me, and the lite is best for handheld mode.

I’ve never had the “drift” problem, opposite really, I’ve had a “lock” problem. Where the joycon will only half way input my command, and it feels like I’m locked from going in a direction.

As a mainly PC gamer I chose the lite over the normal switch because I play mainly on PC. I use the lite as secondary console which I play from time to time and the lite does that job perfectly at a low price. Plus you can use the 100$ you would've used on the normal switch for a game.
Yeah but some games require joycons that cost $80 + $20 to use with the switch lite
I'm wondering why I bought an OLED. I still play the Lite 99% of the time.

I don't understand why people hate switch lite it actualy has a better battery life. and I like how the switch lite feels better don't buy the regular one. The switch lites joycon is not detachable and if you fall with a nintendo switch you could break the lock on the switches detachable joycons, so I like the colours it's way better.
I prefer my Switch lite. It’s a really fun console

I travel a lot because my parents are split up so this will be perfect to bring around with me. I’ve also had the same switch since 2017
Definitely great in a family household for kids.
My wife and I have the standard. My son also has a standard. My two girls both have lites.
Thats alot of switches hahah
@@jacotay2827 😂😂 well thanks. My son and I are the only real gamers, the girls mostly use it as a tablet… and my wife’s just kinda sits there….
@@BENZ317 That sounds amazing! 😁
For anyone wondering there is a way to fix joycon drift now yourself too, i wont go much into details bcs u can just type into youtube how to fix a joycon drift, but basicly its putting like a little plate pretty much just as thick as credit card belove the joystick inside the switch, which puts pressure on it there for fixing the drift, because the drift is caused by wearing the joycon down by pressing the joystick as an button (pressing the joystick down)
To be honest, it's the joycon drift that kills it for me. I've had several pairs of joycons go bad already.
@@shinbakihanma2749 your comment makes no sense
$215 after tax for the Lite versus $380 after tax for the OLED. That's a BIG gap for a lacking upgrade. Rather save $ now.
it should be noted that if you use a good case on the regular Switch, it would feel just as sturdy as the Lite... and the case makes it way more comfortable...
4:07 seeing the switch resting in the dirt kinda hurt my soul 😂
Same.
A friend gifted me his Switch Lite because he recently got a PS5 and told me that he won't be using the Switch anymore, so while i do want a Switch OLED this will help me build a library of games for whenever i do get the OLED model.
For me the added cost of the Switch OLED model is worth it as I use my console docked most of the time, plus the display is just so much better.
Me 2
Why would you care about the screen if you play docked?
@@zaxmaxlax Because I also use it in handheld mode. Mostly when I’m working or have school and am taking the bus a lot.
@@LugiThePainDrinker Agreed! I was actually surprised at how big of an upgrade it is as a handheld. The stand also makes a far bigger difference than expected.
@@cadenchurchill4296 Lol you play the switch on the bus? Lol... Such a dork thing to do bro
Well, if I were to play on a TV or monitor, I'd rather use another console or a PC instead. But that's just me
Same here. That’s why I have the PS5 for that instead
I got the violet blue variant today and let me just say it's probably the cutest console I've ever seen.
