I agree for a long cold winter climate. But, for where my car roams, it hardly ever gets down to freezing and it's in a heated garage MOTT. If yours wears out, I can give a great deal on one. Ciao.
I think the battery heater kicks in around 30F and under, that's when I lose 10-15 miles of range and average 55-60 miles to a charge. Once we reach 35+F, I get back up into 70 miles range even when using the heater here and there.
Just curious what kind of car are you thinking of putting all this stuff in to? Looks like a pretty cheap way to get what you need to convert a gas car to EV. I have been thinking of converting a VW beetle (old 1961 type) to electric, but the cost of an EVWest kit is about $17k minus the batteries!
Yes, it's a very cost effective way to do a conversion. It never makes sense buying a "new" car, especially when you can get a near mint one, three years old, for 70% off. Same thing with "new" EV conversion parts. We've been following the EV conversion scene since about 2009 - EVTV, EV west, new electric, & many more. Our philosophy is different, we want the car to: look stock, weigh the same, & be cost neutral (meaning no depreciation) or better.
Great series, can't wait for episode 6 and 7!
As a Nebraska native. And a fellow 500e driver. I can attest that the battery heater is well worth it

Do you know where the security gateway module is located on fiat 500e?
Did you end up selling the compressor? Thanks!
Yes, the A/C comp. is sold, as well as most everything else I don't need.
@@theevolvingworld Thanks for the quick reply. If you dont mind me asking, where did you buy the car and how much did you buy it for? Thanks!

The A/C, heater box is the largest thing under the dash in all cars.
John can i have the steering wheel ... for my 500e
😄 Sure, if I still had it. It was hauled off to the recycling center months ago.

Your request for a translation into Russian is noted. Hope to be able to offer that at a future date.
This car seems quite over-engineered in some area, just don't understand why Fiat can't improve their overall quality.
like the door handle ..never had a car door handle break until i owned a fiat
So many parts on the interior broke on mine.
