@@connorlancaster7541 As a christian, I appreciate that you're trying to do some good ol' evangelism, but I think this might be a little out of place and a bit random. There are quite a few more effective ways to do evangelism, other than the TH-cam comments section, such as in your workplace/school or perhaps on the street like the people you're recommending (though I recommend that if you're evangelising, that you first try and perhaps do some sort of school of ministry or just some sort of official course to help you do it more effectively), just don't be so random about it and out of place.

I think the developers put a secret in this scenario where if you do disable the ray gun before the sunbeam gets there, the sunbeam won’t be able to land because of a passing debris field. At least they live in that alternate timeline!

I kinda expected this already, but some other outcome would've been nice. Imagine they'd put in an easter egg for this specific case, where the cannon gets confused and just explodes, kills you and corrupts the save file.
That would've been awesome for sure :) The gun did bug out on me after this actually where the panel would still come up but I could no longer interact with it.
There is a different ending. If you disable the quarantine enforcement platform before the sunbeam event happens. They don’t die. But they cannot land due to a massive debris field

I disabled it while the countdown was going down and my countdown just kept going into negative numbers while a really cool voiceline played

My assumption is that despite being deactivated, the order to shoot the Sunbeam was sent before the deactivation command, and was an irrevocable operation.
No its because this is a game and there is no other option than for the sunbeam to be shot down, its a scripted immutable event.

I wish there was multiple endings like if you disable the gun when it's shooting it blows up and sunbeam saves you (or maybe in the return of the ancients the sunbeam saves you and then you hear the gargantuan leviathan jump up and crash the sunbeam) and also if u builded the neptune and took off without disabling the gun you get a cutscene of the neptune crashing and you surviving but your far out in the void then you hear the ghost leviathans catch up and kill you
Would be awesome if there was a secret ending where you could actually get rescued! :)

To save the Sunbeam (in a non-canonical ending), don’t repair the radio in your Lifepod until you are cured of the Kharaa and turn the gun off. That way, you won’t receive the Sunbeam messages which help trigger the sequence of events that ultimately seals their fate.

The voice line where the Sunbeam says they cant land because of the ‘Debris field’ is so dumb, our small little Neptune rocket cleared the asteroid field of what was like 3 METAL SALVAGE! How can you not get past that?

Fun fact: if you disable the gun before sunbeam arrives, then you get a not-well-known piece of dialog from sunbeam saying that the asteroid field is to bad and they can't help Aurora

Yeah, it's lame because in the scenario in which the Sunbeam is shot down we clearly see that the debris did not prevent them from entering orbit, so they took the cheap way out.
The Devs aren't strong in the writing department. :(

actually it's not true. if you do it in the fair way, so without making the sunbeam land by command, the cannon won't shoot, but you'll still be there since the crew of the Sunbeam will decide to not land as they cannot pass through the debris field released by the Aurora during the crash

For me after disabling the gun, they said they couldn't land because of the debris...and I think it glitched the game cause after that the clock kept counting down without disappearing.

I don’t know if nobody doesn’t know this but if you disable the gun before the sunbeam lands it will not be able to land for some reason that I forgot so you still have no rescue even if you do disable the gun before the sunbeam arrives
Yeah it's because of the debris around the planet apparently :)
A shame really. It's the same if you activate the sunbeam mission then disable the gun. The only way to save it is to deactivate it before the sunbeam mission starts and then it never even tries to land.

I wish you could disable it if you were fast enough, I hate the fact that it's scripted and unable to change. Same with the Aurora actually I wish you could fix it before it exploded and could instead make an entrance by ramming the cyclops into it and getting inside that way.
Technically you CAN disable it :) You just have to do it before Sunbeam even arrives.

There should be an ending where if you disable the gun before the sunbeam arrives the sunbeam will pick you up but the aliens enable the gun from a remote and the sunbeam gets blown up while you are on it

There is actually a voiceline where you disable the gun before sunbeam even comes through the atmosphere, if you disable the gun and then you get the radio from sunbeam saying they’ll come to help, instead they say something along the lines of not being able to land.
