The thing about Idaho is that they were an FBS school from 2001 through 2017. After 2017, they opted to drop to FCS because the Sun Belt dropped them over travel issues, and they opted not to play an independent football schedule, and the Mountain West refused their application. They did have 1 very successful season in the Sun Belt Conference winning a bid to the Idaho Potato Bowl and defeating MWC (now PAC) member Colorado State 63-50. I believe that Idaho would be ecstatic to receive an invitation to the MWC.

Absolutely! Obviously, it's purely hypothetical, but considering how the program is looking this year and how travel is now less of a concern (for most schools at least) there could be some potential here.
The MWC can get pretty creative here, especially now that Air Force is rumored to be looking at the AAC. Curious to see how it shapes up!
