I like his old standby of getting off to a rough start (but still doable for most people) and he just gives up and lets the boss kill him. Still has 90% of his resources left, but instead of even trying if even for the sake of learning the fight he just gives up. What am I thinking? He doesn't learn the fights...he just barely scrapes by eventually due to luck or cheese.
I remember a short video saying he would accuse people of cheating if they beat him in a fighting game. And I'm not sure the exact words but if he won then he would say they aren't skillful enough to even play with him

After the 17 other stamina-management games he's gone through (some multiple trips) you'd think it would register at last, but nope! There seriously needs to be some sort of "game plays itself" setting on all video games, so even people like DSP can experience the story. Or, like, a pamphlet in the box that gives the run-down in book form.

History is so whitewashed the facts get lost as well (that being said, I don't agree with most pro-native "utopia era" narratives, because there is historical evidence they hated each other). Hell, the south rewrote Civil War history in their favor. But I assumed it had some characters from history because of Hattori Hanzo (yes... the Tarantino movies of early 2000s). Also because Yoshimoto wears a similar design to Yoshitsune (a demon/persona based on Minamoto-no-Yoshitsune); I also know of historical figures because a narrator mentioned Date Masamune during a sports event in Miyagi. But that was just me connecting the dots.
His fight against Mezuki (the game's first boss, by the way) proves he didn't learn a damn thing in the entirety of the first game. Boss activates Yokai realm. "Great! Now I have to wait for this to end... How long does this last?!" *If only there were a way to dispel Yokai realm* "Can't move. I'm out of stamina, there's nothing I can do-I can't MOVE!" *IF ONLY THERE WERE A WAY TO QUICKLY REGAIN STAMINA*
There's two Yokai effects. Yokai Realm (the ground circle) and the Dark Realm (what the boss does). In the dark realm, you either wait for him to dispel it or (recommended) go on the offensive. Your Yokai abilities recharge very fast and using one I believe regens your stamina faster while using it. Yokai shift also lasts longer I believe and certain abilities are buff (like the hammer slam which adds a circle fire)
How does he not remember what "the guy from the first game" looked like after he didn't shut up forever about "LOOK IT'S GERALT, GERALT FROM THE WITCHER, HE WENT TO JAPAN, ACK ACK ACK ACK LOOK LOOK IT'S GERALT!" Also did he ever explain why he played this but NOT Code Vein?

There's absolutely no reason for his "because I said so" excuse not to play Code Vein. He can't tell a good game from a bad one, so it isn't a valid argument for him. What really gets me the most about this guy, other than constantly begging for money especially during a pandemic, is how he interacts with his viewers. He thinks most questions asked to him are stupid. He mocks them when challenged to improve. He either gives non-answers or long winded rants with no in-between. Can't even joke around to lighten the mood for a positive vibe he constantly touts. Never once asks his viewers a question about anything. NUP, he is just high-stance 24/7 like Yokai dweller with pickaxe, and oh...how did i forgot about the magic 🤦♂️🤦♂️ lightning buff and sloth every Damm time. The 🧀🧀🧀 is unbearable to watch. DSP learned nothing from Nioh 1 and it showing in the second game. Where are closing in the third and final DLC for Nioh 2 and Phill haven't touched the first dlc. What a hack of gamer.

Dave doesn't learn to play games. His 'playstyle', so-called, is to just brute force a game till either it gives up and lets him play his way, or he ragequits when the game demands he learn to play it properly. This is how he's always played games. Always.

One of my favorite Philisms is the "Every enemy has insane range!" thing. I mean. If I were 9 feet tall and had a spear 4 feet taller than myself I'd have pretty insane range too. I don't know what he thinks the giant enemy with a giant weapon should be doing, but whatever it is it should NOT be using that giant weapon and reach to it's advantage.

EDIT: I will never cease being amazed that Dave can play an entire game, get past the final boss through sheer dumb luck, and never learn the game's mechanics. Even games journos give up eventually. If anything, the only remarkable thing about DSP is his ability to take punishment for the sake of money and avoiding a real job.

My boyfriend and I started playing the game pretty recently. I keep looking over Flux but I'm pretty hesitant to take it because I'm unsure of how demanding it is in regards to timing. Would you say it's pretty forgiving?
He doesn't even use combos right? So how would he be coordinated enough to swap weapons or stance during the ki pulse? It's honestly surprising he got as far as he did. If he would actually utilize the tools the game provides it would have been a lot more fun. Instead he's just struggling and whining lol. Phil forgets this. He also forgets guarding blocks 100% of physical damage. When you are in a stunlock, you can block much faster then dodging. Always block when in a stunlock, but Phil never learns this.

Some builds can face tank a lot of damage and survive but its knowing what to dodge and what you can trade hits with and win, Tanking /trading hits in this is more strategic and require learning enemy patterns and the big ouch moves to avoid.

6:41:56 - I find it hilarious that right after he gets done complaining about not being able to avoid red attacks the game pops up the "Hey, did you know Burst Counter is a thing?" tooltip. Especially puzzling, considering that moments (in the video) later, he's fighting the onyudo and uses Burst Counter.

1:15:10 I like how he starts saying they made it so much more complex than nioh 1 while nioh 1 has THE EXACT same system to change between the items... Also he has stone as a shortcut on the first 4 items during a boss fight... Like equip the talisman in the slot instead of stone like wtf is wrong with this man
The Item quickslot change system is more complex in Nioh 2, in Nioh 1 you just press R2 and go the next set, but in Nioh 2 you hold R2 and press left/right on the D-pad to change sets... And that one change made using your Item quickslots so much easier, but since DSP never used anything beyond elixirs of course he'll complain since he hates anything requiring effort.
Bought Nioh 2 this year during the Summer Sale, and got through the game and DLCs before watching this. Maybe me using hatchets made the fight easy or what-have-you, but Phil constantly complaining about side-mission Shibata was insufferable. For a full stream, he went on and fucking on about dodging the charge and how it's so hard to dodge the charge, and how it's so Ludacris, that tough charge. But, you know what a perfectly viable strat is that evades damage from the charge, doesn't invest much in stamina, AND immediately stops the charge move altogether? _Blocking_
Mezuki grabbed him what, 30 times, yet still didn’t recognize the extremely telegraphed lead up. He just kept standing directly in front of him everytime 🤦🏻♂️
DSP continues his trend that when he is in a big room with a bunch of enemies, he seems to think that he can focus on one and as long as the other enemies are off camera that means they don't exist. And when they come out of nowhere and kill him it's the game's fault.
I love hearing how people like him complain the game design is way worse than Dark Souls when trying to play Nioh like Dark Souls. Both Dark Souls and Nioh are well designed. The difference is, Nioh is fast paced and aggressive. If you play it like Dark Souls, you are doing yourself a great dis-service.
“Can’t move, dood! Stunlocked!” The game repeatedly tells you that you can’t dodge out of an enemy hit string but you can still block during. I don’t think he ever raises his guard once he gets hit. Ever. Edit: Example 2:26:00 he would’ve survived had he pressed block after the first punch landed instead of trying to panic-dodge.
I'm actually playing the game right now. I started with Feral Yokai, and beat Mezuki the first try. Though Gozuki(level 1) killed me a couple of times. The game is fun as hell

Yeah I think that's the thing I hate about Phill the most. He will praise the last similar game in a genere if he's having trouble with the current game. During Dark souls he praised nioh for how better everything is. Same with sunshine and modern mario games.
One moment that felt it just, summed up phil so well, was during the first boss there, where he, countered or parried, and declared, it's working every time now. No Phil... you've gotten the timing down, after multiple attempts. It's not that the game is failing to register your inputs less, it's that you've gained experience... Gotta wonder why he plays games when he clearly only likes straight up, I hit you, boss fights and wants them to be easy to beat every time so he can get it over with quickly and move on... seeing every occurrence of, try again, as wasted time. I mean, I'm pretty sure his loyal subjects would watch him do anything...
The thing is, consoles come with the function to save a recording of your gameplay. If he had any interest at all about checking why he died rather than ranting about the development of the game he’d actually learn something. Half the time when he dies and he doesn’t know why, it’s because he’s on fire.
This man genuinely gets through the game through sheer luck and handholding. I jus finished this game for the first time like a few days ago, and seeing some of the fights where I’ve had issues on, he head butted through cause chat gave him an OP build, and still fails at it 85% of the time. I was quite happy that sigma pig man sat on pig roach a couple times doh, felt really satisfying to watch. I thought that was a badass fight, he clapped my cheeks a good amount of times but nothing like Phil. I guess he was showing his dominance over Phil on who’s the alpha pig, he could’ve easily taken Kat from him, but chose not to… EDIT: I also wanna throw out there that Phil at no point in time, has a small stockpile of elixirs. Bruh, before mid game I had at least 100+ elixirs. That and holy shit sloth is down right unfair, or anything that slows movement speed. I’m rocking a magic build in this game and started using lighting to buff my weapons and the shikigami, that’s an element but yet it trivializes the game. Phil used sloth, a literally debuff that slows enemies movements by a good 30-50% after one - two casts on everything, and still struggled. That’s sad, my first playthrough was with the kuraisagama and odcahi and mixed up both ninjutsu and magic, both stats are not even passed 15 yet cause I’m in the dlc and kinda started a new char.
I really wish they had given Sloth das boot and not included it in the sequel. Or at least made significantly powerful enemies highly resistant or immune to it.
So one hour and 30 minutes into the video I'm thinking, he's using the switch glave and has these points in magic yet I never see him use any spells to buff his weapons, or himself. By this point in the game I already had all the element talismans for weapons, I used barrier a lot to help purify yokai pollution as well as keep your stamina up in the dark realm, I used defense drain and lower attack damage spells. Honestly could get pretty creative with the amount of ninjitsu you have access to. This guy thinks on only the very basic of planes unless he actually listens to his chat that holds his hand the entire time. Then the one time he does use magic, he's fighting a human boss and he uses the purity Talisman!? What's wrong with his brain?

Implying that he's never used the heavy attack up until that point.... 1:38:40 "Unfun and unfair" Here he doesn't seem to realize that the enemies are spawning in on a timer. Since he pussy foots around everything and takes his sweet ass time fighting everything 1v1 in mid stance, he can't kill everything that spawns before the wave timer rolls over. Which leads to the enemies gangbanging him. Most people would notice this and play more aggressive to make it manageable but Phil will be Phil.
"This is fahkin stoopid!!".. Has Gouty Hippo never grasped the concept of being struck by lightning? And that in real life, it generally kills you if it hits you..

Its legit painful watching him learn about the counter, and then never ever using it. You have to use the counter in Nioh 2 or you're fucked. It took me a while to nail down, but god damn. He literally reads about it and then never tries it.

There's two Yokai effects. Yokai Realm (the ground circle) and the Dark Realm (what the boss does). In the dark realm, you either wait for him to dispel it or (recommended) go on the offensive. Your Yokai abilities recharge very fast and using one I believe regens your stamina faster while using it. Yokai shift also lasts longer I believe and certain abilities are buff (like the hammer slam which adds a circle fire)

Majority of DSP deaths are from using high-stance and still blame the game and the developers like manchild for his faults. You would think DSP would learned his lesson from Nioh 1 and start using both high and low stances instead sticking with Mid-stance throughout the whole game. NUP, he is just high-stance 24/7 like Yokai dweller with pickaxe, and oh...how did i forgot about the magic 🤦♂️🤦♂️ lightning buff and sloth every Damm time. The 🧀🧀🧀 is unbearable to watch.
DSP learned nothing from Nioh 1 and it showing in the second game. Where are closing in the third and final DLC for Nioh 2 and Phill haven't touched the first dlc. What a hack of gamer.

Phil forgets this. He also forgets guarding blocks 100% of physical damage. When you are in a stunlock, you can block much faster then dodging. Always block when in a stunlock, but Phil never learns this.

Though i use the guard more for the kusarigamas version of parry, its basically a free win button vs any human mob
Some builds can face tank a lot of damage and survive but its knowing what to dodge and what you can trade hits with and win, Tanking /trading hits in this is more strategic and require learning enemy patterns and the big ouch moves to avoid.

After this and watching Dark souls, he needs to use Block buttons. He also does not have the hand eye coordination for these games.

Also he has stone as a shortcut on the first 4 items during a boss fight... Like equip the talisman in the slot instead of stone like wtf is wrong with this man
The Item quickslot change system is more complex in Nioh 2, in Nioh 1 you just press R2 and go the next set, but in Nioh 2 you hold R2 and press left/right on the D-pad to change sets... And that one change made using your Item quickslots so much easier, but since DSP never used anything beyond elixirs of course he'll complain since he hates anything requiring effort.
Bought Nioh 2 this year during the Summer Sale, and got through the game and DLCs before watching this. Maybe me using hatchets made the fight easy or what-have-you, but Phil constantly complaining about side-mission Shibata was insufferable.
For a full stream, he went on and fucking on about dodging the charge and how it's so hard to dodge the charge, and how it's so Ludacris, that tough charge. But, you know what a perfectly viable strat is that evades damage from the charge, doesn't invest much in stamina, AND immediately stops the charge move altogether?

DSP continues his trend that when he is in a big room with a bunch of enemies, he seems to think that he can focus on one and as long as the other enemies are off camera that means they don't exist. And when they come out of nowhere and kill him it's the game's fault.

I love hearing how people like him complain the game design is way worse than Dark Souls when trying to play Nioh like Dark Souls. Both Dark Souls and Nioh are well designed. The difference is, Nioh is fast paced and aggressive. If you play it like Dark Souls, you are doing yourself a great dis-service.

The game repeatedly tells you that you can’t dodge out of an enemy hit string but you can still block during. I don’t think he ever raises his guard once he gets hit. Ever.

I'm actually playing the game right now. I started with Feral Yokai, and beat Mezuki the first try. Though Gozuki(level 1) killed me a couple of times. The game is fun as hell

Yeah I think that's the thing I hate about Phill the most. He will praise the last similar game in a genere if he's having trouble with the current game. During Dark souls he praised nioh for how better everything is. Same with sunshine and modern mario games.
One moment that felt it just, summed up phil so well, was during the first boss there, where he, countered or parried, and declared, it's working every time now. No Phil... you've gotten the timing down, after multiple attempts. It's not that the game is failing to register your inputs less, it's that you've gained experience...
Gotta wonder why he plays games when he clearly only likes straight up, I hit you, boss fights and wants them to be easy to beat every time so he can get it over with quickly and move on... seeing every occurrence of, try again, as wasted time. I mean, I'm pretty sure his loyal subjects would watch him do anything...

it is honestly so pathetic that DSP considers Jasper his "son". It is so sad.
The thing is, consoles come with the function to save a recording of your gameplay. If he had any interest at all about checking why he died rather than ranting about the development of the game he’d actually learn something. Half the time when he dies and he doesn’t know why, it’s because he’s on fire.
This man genuinely gets through the game through sheer luck and handholding. I jus finished this game for the first time like a few days ago, and seeing some of the fights where I’ve had issues on, he head butted through cause chat gave him an OP build, and still fails at it 85% of the time. I was quite happy that sigma pig man sat on pig roach a couple times doh, felt really satisfying to watch. I thought that was a badass fight, he clapped my cheeks a good amount of times but nothing like Phil. I guess he was showing his dominance over Phil on who’s the alpha pig, he could’ve easily taken Kat from him, but chose not to… EDIT: I also wanna throw out there that Phil at no point in time, has a small stockpile of elixirs. Bruh, before mid game I had at least 100+ elixirs. That and holy shit sloth is down right unfair, or anything that slows movement speed. I’m rocking a magic build in this game and started using lighting to buff my weapons and the shikigami, that’s an element but yet it trivializes the game. Phil used sloth, a literally debuff that slows enemies movements by a good 30-50% after one - two casts on everything, and still struggled. That’s sad, my first playthrough was with the kuraisagama and odcahi and mixed up both ninjutsu and magic, both stats are not even passed 15 yet cause I’m in the dlc and kinda started a new char.
I really wish they had given Sloth das boot and not included it in the sequel. Or at least made significantly powerful enemies highly resistant or immune to it.
Every debuff on boss is removed when he swap realms,on later bosses sloth duration is like 15 sec. Barrier with lifesteal is 10x more broken.
So one hour and 30 minutes into the video I'm thinking, he's using the switch glave and has these points in magic yet I never see him use any spells to buff his weapons, or himself. By this point in the game I already had all the element talismans for weapons, I used barrier a lot to help purify yokai pollution as well as keep your stamina up in the dark realm, I used defense drain and lower attack damage spells. Honestly could get pretty creative with the amount of ninjitsu you have access to. This guy thinks on only the very basic of planes unless he actually listens to his chat that holds his hand the entire time.
Then the one time he does use magic, he's fighting a human boss and he uses the purity Talisman!? What's wrong with his brain?

Which leads to the enemies gangbanging him. Most people would notice this and play more aggressive to make it manageable but Phil will be Phil.
