- Time classic from the legendary perfume house of Guerlain created by Jean Paul Guerlain in 1965 and re-imagined in 2003.

One of the MANY masterpieces from this house, which in my opinion, is the greatest perfume house ever.

Rightly said Nikhil, this is a fragrance masterpiece.
Love the comparison with Shalimar (which is again one of my favourites).
Another point I should agree to, is the fact that initially even I had no clue there were houses like Guerlain who only made perfumes. But as I dwelled deeper into the subject of fragrances, I got educated.

This perfume really is an exception to the current rule of 'fruitcholis' and 'freshcholis' that are flooding the market. The fact it was very popular and then became obscure, makes it a great proposition to be worn as a signature scent.
@@nikhilsfrags Agreed. Patch is lovely but needs to be emasculated in a blend else it eats up other notes. HR really is an amazing fragrance.
I completely agree with your review. This will always be apart of my frequent wear along with Vetiver, it has helped me though this summer at 43 degrees its mesmerizing
This and Vetiver are mine as well then Heritage and L'instant.

Just smells so soo good and I immediately picture a very decent man ie gentleman wearing this. Lovely fragrance, one of the best i have smelled in my years long fragrance journey!!
I may have received a bad bottle. It happens. It might have been exposed to high heat during shipping, or sat on a shelf in direct light for a year before it was sent to me. But I did not get anything but a soft, powdery rose that faded to a simple jasmine on skin within twenty minutes. I may try it again if I can sample the bottle before purchase. Enjoyed your joy!

I had/have a bottle of this from a couple of years back, it's quite nice. However, I got onto an older EdT bottle (gold cap) this year, and let me tell you in no uncertain terms that this is truly top shelf stuff, especially if you just care about the scent and are not that picky about strength, duration etc. Better than anything ever made by Roja Dove, Xerjoff or you name it. Still not unaffordable completely, and sealed splashes are perhaps better value. There is minimal citrus/fresh notes, so much less chance of it turning. Stuff like this, Heritage and New York Intense are my favourites, and the style I always come back to. Depth, complexity, abstraction, richness without heaviness, spectacular unique smells yet completely wearable unlike much of artisanal niche - these older French perfumes are amazing.
Just picked up Habit Rouge EDT and Heritage EDT for Father’s Day! Masterpieces indeed. Wish I got into Guerlain sooner. Falling hard for the house-also sampled, challenged by, and grew to love Mitsouko and Shalimar EDP.

Great review; share your love for this work of art - my favourite perfume by far among other great ones i love i.e. Heritage, Vetiver and L'eau Boisee. I prefer the EDT as it takes me on a journey. Hope that the younger generation will discover these as well.

One of my all time favorites I love that sort of 🤔 dusty rose accord and you just cannot go wrong with guerlain perfume. Habit rouge leau is fantastic also.
Will try this surely... Nikhil u shud also try lomme ideal cologne EDT (the white one) from this house... aptly made for Mumbai weather especially in summers... Very soothing effect....
Idk why fragrance like these are not talked about more by fragrance reviewers. Its such a classic fragrance which could be worn year round, have nice longevity and the cherry on the top is the price. BTW geurlian vetiver, L homme ideal are also quite nice. Also please could also do a review on boucheron jaipur( this one is also one of those which are rarely talked about)
Hi Nikhil Sir, in the air it's a rose bouquet made of wood and you are having lemon desert with vanilla sitting on raw earth (this is where patchouli-oakmoss plays a important role may be in my humble opinion) wearing a leather jacket, just amazing.

I have a box of natural frankincense cones, the dry down of this perfume smells exactly like that, and better.

Amazing review. Habit rouge is one of the best rose based colognes for men apart from Cartier Declaration. Sir kindly review Lhomme Ideal EDP from Guerlain. One of the most unique fragrance dna with cherry and guerlainade accord.
I don't know what people find about this fragrance - I bought it after reading all these amazed reviews, was shocked about its imho way too sweet smell and now only use it to clean the toilet (admittedly it's awesome for this use)..

I tried them both at the same time, not even close my friend. But Habit Rouge is better in my books.
As for pronunciation (please take my advice with a pinch of salt) an unspoken rule is... when its a noun that includes names of brands or people. People are limited by their accents. So best to let people be.
If a french or Italian calls a british or american brand with their accent its all cool but people are triggered if its the other way around.

I bought an awful Guerlain a couple of weeks ago , Homme I think it was. It was a blind purchase off the internet and I gave it away immediately. I agree with you on this one though.

Jean Paul Guerlain apparently hated this creation of his. The reason being was it gave him so much hassle. The company didn't want to release it, as it was too different (at the time it was the first oriental for men, so yes very different) and they thought men wouldn't want to wear it. It also took long to sell, it wasn't great at the beginning. But my it is definitely a masterpiece. Personally it is second behind Guerlain Vetiver for me. Both masterpieces. That's just personal, and I totally understand why someone would put Habit Rouge first.
what do you think about L'Instant? Habit Rouge is unfortunately not in shops here, but interestingly L'Instant is everywhere, and I really like it. Will probably be my next buy

great fragrance, but it doesnt last long on my skin. after an hour its not there anymore, but I have the same problem with dior sauvage edt with people say it has a beast longevity and strong sillage and again on my skin one hour, almost no sillage.

It that it's a little watered down. But not buy much, don't over spend on older versions! I did get an older tester bottle (2018) for a little more than what the current bottle goes for. Like 10eu more. But if it was 25eu I would've gone for the new release. It's still good enough.

Hi Nikhil, great video as always. I need some help.....I love this fragrance called vetiver from L'Occitane. The issue is......this fragrance is EDT and the performance is below par. could you recommend any fragrance that is a clone or better perhaps but has beast of a performance. I am open to attar or alcohol based spray as well and ofcourse Shud be less expensive, tops ₹2000. Regards.

I tried recently the edt and longevity really is disappointing, I sprayed 6 sprays on the same spot and it faded away in 2 hours. Anyone else has this problem?

Abhishek srivastava it’s not weak, but not terribly long lasting....it will get you thru an 8 hour workday if you’re heavy on the trigger.

I have been wearing Gulab attar from Ali brothers kannauj since march. It is the most beautiful scent I have. The problem is its longevity and projection. It projects for maximum of 4 minutes and lasts upto maximum of 1 hour. Is there any other perfume or oil you would recommend, with similar or same smell but with more projection and longevity. Synthetics are also welcome.
