Surstömming is herring that is preserved through fermentation. Thats is why the can looks like it going to explode. But you shude open it in a bucket with water. And you need to eat it with
potato, redonions, chive and sour cream on a hard thin bread with fine chop surstömming.
We learned our lesson the hard way

Here in DK, the amount of fish allowed to take home, has been regulated drastically. Even angling is heavily regulated now. And not to mention the pfas in the shores and coast. It sucks.. 😑

Surströmming is a specialty from Norrland, which arose when the Hanseatic League stopped its sale of salt to Sweden in the Middle Ages due to the unresolved conflicts with Gustav Vasa.
The subsequent salt shortage led people to preserve the strömming "or Baltic herring" by fermenting it instead of putting it in salt. During the fermentation, acetic acid, lactic acid and butyric acid are formed, which lower the pH value and thus extend the shelf life of the fish.
On the other hand, it is considered among the world's smelliest dishes.

Think you guys owe me a laptop! As a Swede seeing that tin of Surströmming make an appearance I laughed so hard I had beer coming out of my nose! Knew what was coming, that smell isn't to be trifled with!

That was one of the best episodes I've seen. Graham's G60 taking on water through the vents, the Farm Truck in deep water to the cooking. Great video. And the DMW Nissan is a weapon. Keep it up.
Hands down the best Cape episode ever. Pretty epic seeing the oldest of the Nissan beside the newest of the Nissan's.

those idler pulleys run a very common sized bearing and not to hard to knock out and swap if need be .... cheap spare to throw in the kit
Just imagine breaking these tracks for the first time, early LandRovers, Toyota's etc, no winch, no difflocks. Tough going.

Swede here! I was screaming WATCH OUT! when Shauno opened it and I almost barfed remembering the horrid smell. You are not supposed to eat it directly from the can though. only the oldtimers ate sur strömming and it is only like 15 to 25 % of the swedish population that actually eats that dreadful thing.

After watching the two old rigs having water issues with that big crossing (~36 min) it was astonishing seeing Ruben getting through. Massive respect and quality driving, especially from him, especially with only three tyres.
Kinda shows some of the limitations of a very long serpentine belt. Toyota has done ‘belts’ in lots of different ways but earlier generations (like mine) had the crank driving WP and AL only using twin belts. The PS was on a separate belt and the AC was the only one with IP (2 in my case). I think this was better. Thoughts?

At 56:30 did anybody else notice that the pulley they put on looks brand new not old and rusty like the one they just found lying on the top of the engine in the nav
Just as well you found a nissan part to fix the toyota, or it might be still there, lol. Doesn't matter what the 4x4 is as long as you're out there using it.
I would of just left baileys 80 there why people do a v8 conversion is beyond me, classic reason right there why you wouldn't 😝🤦♂️🤦♂️
V8 conversions are fine if done properly, but you probably shouldn't go straight on to the OTT and Frenchmans on an untested conversion. Maybe do a few local trips to deal with the gremlins first.
