Although the song brings back sad memories for me I think it's a really beautiful song. One of U2's best and I prefer this video version so much more than the American Football one. This video fits the song so much more.
I lost my father to suicide 18 years ago and not a day goes by where I don't think about him. Every time I hear this song I can't help but think of him because it always has seemed to me that he got stuck in that moment and wasn't thinking clearly. He was the last person on earth that i thought would be capable to of doing that. It's a long way down to nothing at all.

This song so loving and human, it helped me to get through very difficult times. I worked abroad in Asia, far from home and no, running away from yourself abroad doesn't work. In fact, that is a place, where you will have to face yourself.

I lost my father to suicide 18 years ago and not a day goes by where I don't think about him. Every time I hear this song I can't help but think of him because it always has seemed to me that he got stuck in that moment and wasn't thinking clearly. He was the last person on earth that i thought would be capable to of doing that. It's a long way down to nothing at all.
my father died in natural causes he will never commit suicide forgive me god to say that as i am only his son, but he created or the world a human like me suicidal started they said even before the time of my birth. in surviving years i seldom visit his grave but whenever i do ,there seems a message that i should take it easy and enjoy life or love myself.it was him as i never learn from him when he was still alive but his love pours in his death on how he live his life full and free all the things he enjoy when his only son ptsd.anxiety.depression panic. fear he never have one of those.but i knew his life on earth was a cure at least whenever i visited him

I got a book of the personnal stuff and memories of Bono where he says that he got such annoyed with his suicide and terrible made with Michael that it took him 3 years to write a song about it ! He dedicated the song to Michael`s girl at that time ( Paula Yates ) and in memoir of Michael ( he was one of his best friends )
