    Nice educational video, once again, from Sorin! It shows how important to have proper tools, if you are in this business . Thermal camera and a good lab power supply is a "must have", if you are doing these repairs. Not all workshops have them.

    sorin - please check video at position 15:28 - im not so sure the bottom right pin of the mosfet is soldered? (the one above it ooks dry too)

    • @nonamington
      @nonamington ปีที่แล้ว +1

      All 4 pins on the drain are connected to the same trace/pad, so it doesn't really matter if 1 is not connected. But yeah you're right that pin doesn't seem to be soldered.

    That's why one should always use external peripherals if one is prone to "rage quitting". Preferably cheap ones.

    I have to wonder how much you charged him, Sorin. The Price of Rage Quit, as it were.
    Also, I would likely have asked if he wanted more RAM, that second slot was calling to me for some reason.

      Build one yourself. But if you do buy pre-assembled, don"t buy an HP. Dell is pretty well-built.

    I still don't know why people use thermal pads to quickly cool components after repairing things when a simple 8-12CM fan will do the work faster.

    I fixed the problem in Balanced mode. The fan was at high speed, and was overheating. Text editing fixed it and the cpu became to run at 00% on battery. The trick to balance acer bad battery, is to hibernate at 3%, and the mouse must not be moved until the laptop hibernates. More charges are needed, 20-30 such discharges fix the laptop.

    Why would a capacitor short if you smach it ??

    • @MJay999
      @MJay999 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's in the name: ceramic capacitors. They don't like physical abuse.
      Doesn't mean they will die if you hit a keyboard per se, but with the right amount of impact or stress at the right point, one might crack and short.

    Imagine how much money laptop manufacturers could save by eliminating these unnecessary capacitors and/or using wires for caps or fuses. These devices still will meet all the UL and CSA etc safety standards. What were those engineers thinking when they designed these laptops throwing in unnecessary parts like that? That no doubt will be savings of hundreds of thousands of $ for wide selling laptop models. /s

  • @nicwilson58
    @nicwilson58 ปีที่แล้ว

    You could replace the cap then add a bit of thermal pad on top of it. it's too dodgy to leave parts off.
