For a moment I REALLY thought IKEA was selling laptops
LOL
I read the title, what? IKEA made a laptop? then I play the video, that's why 😂
Me too 😂😂😂
Anyone can made a laptop or any electronic product these days. Just buy 1000 of them or whatever is MOQ in China to put your company logo on it and sell under your own brand.
A bit too early to post for April 1st 😅
I laughed out loud to the “we have a nice back cover” 😂
we got picture!! actually we got backlight 🎉🎉😅
7:40 "This is why this repair can be done in only one way ..." t h e d o d g y w a y
😂😂😂😂
What you have to admire with Sorin's repairs is his sense of what's "good enough", this is a skill he demonstrates time and time again in his videos.
He could have replaced the LCD and cable but that would have been expensive.
Computers are temporary things - we own them for 3-5 years then throw them away, this repair was plenty good enough to last the remaining life of the laptop.
I've run old computers and laptops to avoid having to replace costly equipment (a win2k for 18 years). The trick was to prevent Windows from doing malicious updates. I've run Pavilions 1000 series g7 with wide screen- kept running only thanks to replacement power buttons, keyboards, touchpad boards, display cables and displays. Terrible luck with a more expensive 2000-series g7 A8. When I bought an more recent computer it wasn't an HP and it was based on price because the newer computers are using crap metal, crap boards and will not last by design. I'd rather be out $100 than $500 to $2000 in 3 years.
Kudos to the customer who did such a nice job of disassembly and packaging. What a creative repair. Nice one
Repairing the screen was the best option: Changing it meant a high price (lcd+touch screen) and a high probability of poor quality in the touch screen. I have sometimes tried to separate the touch from the LCD on Lenovo screens and I have never succeeded (a huge headache). When I saw the Ikea laptop title... 🤣🤣🤣
I love your way of repairing. Greetings from Spain
Love his way of working find the fault fix it not throw it away old school.👍
Sorin sounds like Dracula out too late in the night air 🤣
Let's hope the owner pops in here and tell us how the water got in there
Romanian Electronics Technicians are the Best in Europe. They CAN fix anything. We had one who fled to UK in 1986. A genius in the workshop.
I have caught myself saying proper calibrated document back in office after watching your videos )))
I am sure it is possible to replace the screen and having touch working, as long as you order the correct PN from HP. If the screen was broken, it had to be replaced, there is no dodgy repair for a broken screen. But anyway, kudos to Sorin, having that much trouble to fix it.
Ikea Laptop is the biggest clickbait ever :D love it :D
Clickbait at it's best.
Before clicking video i thought; “what! After getting rich with Ottoman Köfte (meatball) now with the laptops?)
Never felt the same before when i see an HP logo :)
feel better soon Sorin
That's why it is important to have a proper calibrated wire
As usual Sorin is a wizard with this stuff. Always amazing to see the result!
Soren, you are like a surgeon. you treats the devices with forceps and a scalpel. Good Job
Get well soon Sorin 🙏. As always, great fix !
Sorin, you really excite me. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
amazing job Sorin, you are genius 👍👍
Amazing... can't see how that should have worked... Another great lesson. Thank you.
You solder 3 wires together by wrapping a proper calibrated fuse around the 3 wires and wrap the ends together few times and cut off excess. When evrything is tied together then solder.
Great Dodgy Fix Sorin. Customer will be very Happy.
Proper calibrated wire 😂😂😂
That was awsome.
Thank you for your dodgy fixes.
Brilliant fix Sorin 😊
insane work ,good job
Amazing! You never cease to surprise me Sorin! lol
Get well soon brother. The sore throat was a surprise :))
3 wire in same time - easy - twist 2 together or 3 and all easy 😉
HI Sorin, good job as alway... i like your calm and way to repairing, it's like my but i need to grow a lot to reach your experience... too simple throw away and replace and unsustenable... bye Francesco Timpano from Florence Italy
I can’t understand where there is so much water under the thick sticker. maybe it's condensation or something like that
Another's great fix, Sorin.
hi dorinda, do not call it the dodgy way, but name it the sorin method way
i cznt believe how ez was this when I saw dmg I was like nooooo RIP so much work ! Amazing job done brother!
Amazing ..bravooo love your job ❤
Excelllent fix Sorin!, perfect reverse engineering, incisions and soldering, lol!
Sorin! I love your videos. I have a Lenovo IdeaPad 5 Pro that doesn't display picture, it used to blue-screen when picked up or moved. Can I send it to you to take a look at? Even if it's dead, it might be a funny video.
twist the two small wires together before you tin them....then tin them and its easy!!
Good job mate
wow ,magical hands
Do you have any parts left over? (IKEA)
Hahaha, well done Sorin.
Proper calibrated wire to the rescue Sorin😅😅😅.
Still working with that amount of damage is crazy for sure!
Thank you
Every time Sorin is going to check the screen connector and find corrosion, you know what is going to happen xD
Amazing that the screen survived. I would have taken one look at that damage and just quoted for a new screen and cable. Unless it was my own laptop LOL. With my own laptop it would have to be more hot glue than laptop before I would give up trying to repair it and pay for a new cable and screen.
thanks, Sorin, now we know it, rust and damage track means 19v is there.
to make multiple wire solder to each other I twist them together, solder them together, cut the excess off and then solder them where I want to be.
O cara é muito bom! Comemora igual eu quando consigo sucesso no reparo kkkkkkkkk
Perfect job :D
Nice one (we have pictures)
I would like to know how the water gets in there.. good repair.
We have backlight. That's insane. I can't believe.
Excellent, that's a lot of damage.
I would change the screen without even blinking 🤣😂
The only way is sorin way ..haha
The Dodgy Way The Only Way...
Hey Sorin which camera do you use for the birds eye view?
Haha awesome man love it, same sort of repairs for myself 😄 You should do a compilation of your dodgy sayings haha, fusee wireees huhhh 🤟😂😂
You are genius
I always twist wires before soldering? Certainly helps when there's more than 2 lol
Didn't even know they made Laptops, learn something every day.
"Dodgy" but efective ! 🤣🤣
Hi Sorin...Or community! I was wondering if you could let me know how you've connected a USB cable to your bench power supply please? To allow you to see the current draw from your repair jobs. The USB has 4 wires inside, and I'm just confused about what to do with D+ and D- wires? I've connected the red and black to my supply, but without the data lines to anything, the current draw is limited by the device somehow, and not by the bench supply. What is the best thing to do with the data wires?
An MFI laptop 😂 you build from scratch 😂
Someone tried to connect that screen into an incompatible laptop and since the wire layout is very unconventional, it fried that screen connector and part of it's circuits. I'd made that mistake before 😂
Never connect touch capable screens into non touch capable laptops haha
Sorin is the best
Is this screen is touchscreen, want to see testing for it please, and i am worried about charging battery; i don't why but i learned alot from you; you are a good man; i wish allah gives you everything nice.
pe vremea lui Ceausescu erai boier cu un patent si cu o sarma,.... :) 2024 it is a proper calibrated wire Year ,.... Great video !!!
Sorin does it again
I just can't imagine many people would go to this much trouble. Easier to buy a new screen or a new pc
Just excellent stuff
In 18 minutes he unpacked and repaired. It would take at least that to order part, drag out the computer again to do the repair and that's if HP hasn't "retired the model" Then it's a gamble of whether or not the right part comes in.
We have backlight!
Master 👌
Hello. Mini PC on Intel n100. When turned on, the screen is black, the fan rotates, the radiator heats up, and it consumes about 14W from the outlet (TDP of processor 6); during normal operation, it seems to have consumed about 20W. But even when turned off, it consumes about 10 W and the processor heatsink gets very hot. Processor to be replaced? Can the processor heat up when turned off and consume 10W from the outlet when the processor is alive?
Zambia 🇿🇲
Lawl we have PICTUREEEE! Lawwlll.... lawwwwlll. Lawl.
The master calibrated wire
How the liquid or water pass the aluminuim tape on the back of the screen inside the frame and it continues for a while until the screen connectors died of rutten rust. WOW > what you were using kids water gun at the screen?
Off-topic but Subaru just had a recall and guess for what? it's the capacitor.
liked even before watching the video
lol. My mind is officially blown!
Surgeon Sorin
Dodgyness is lif!😂❤
Wao wao wao u are great sir
No clean @11:14 ????
👍
good
Perfectly dodgy :)
Stupid question for anyone here,
Can a laptop board be shorted still if power supply light is on and working normal?
I just bought an ASUS G533Z laptop and it has no signs of life at all. But no light flickering or off on PSU.
Tried a known working, charged battery, no difference.
Thanks
Yes! The secondary power lines(vcore, ddr, vccsa etc) could be shorted. But it doesnt mean that its shorted as the fault could be anything. Faulty power IC, broken resistors, fuses and so on
Dodgy way... YEAH!!!!
this is like defusing bomb in counter strike :)
rusted and corroded screen connectors
👌👌👍👍
dodgy but amazing
I’m a creep who gets a pleasure when someone’s device fixed unless if it’s not software related. ( chip blocks etc don’t give me that pleasure and happiness especially i hate them as a victim and can’t do anything about it with my battery)
I got every step and logic except how you spot those 13V’s must connect on inverter board. That’s where i blackout :)
Swedish instructions here... 🤣🤣
Use the provided hexkey!
😂😂
Pretty sure the IKEA laptop is the framework just saying sorin...
Nice screen lool
👋
HP now and for next 10 years
