What do you look for if you buy a new encoder strip and your printhead goes close to the left side, stops, then keeps going and you hear a shrill noise? 0XEA error shows, restarting the printer does the same thing, over and over. Then what? Thanks Keven, the encoder strip did stop the print head from slamming into the left side of the printer, but it's like it doesn't know where it is on the rail. I cleaned the strip with iso alcohol when I got it.
@@BCHTechnologies I figured it out. I actually missed the slot in the back of the head where the encoder strip is supposed to pass through. So it was actually behind the carriage as opposed to against the sensor. Thanks for the reply though! Now if someone can post a video on how to replace the carriage belt that would be SWEET!
@@tarrisalcedo Did either of you figure this out? Keven At BCH says it is usually the encoder strip being bent and/or dirty. I cleaned mine twice, put it through the reader slot (which nobody else has mentioned but Kevin), replaced and cleaned a new strip and I am still getting that screeeching/grinding noise with a 0XEA error. Turning the printer on and off does not solve it. I will link to this video, let me know if you find an answer besides the encoder strip.

What does it matter how to turn the tape!? When it is identical on both sides. The microfilm is the same everywhere, no matter how it is turned. You just have to pay attention to which end of the tape goes to which side and that's all. And how to turn has nothing to do with it. I mean completely ridiculous......
Thanks.Very easy to do with your explanation.
Glad you liked it
Thank you! So helpful. You just made it easy to fix!

can i flip to the other side and used it instead of replacing it?
hi ser, thanks for the tutorial, but can i replace encoder strip of my epson l3110 that came from other brands of epson printer ?
thanks
Another informative video Kevin 🙂. Does the sensor have a light? Mines not showing if it does? Thanks
I have a epson stylus pro r280 do I need that encoder strip or can I get any one?
whats the functions of the film strip ? thank you
The belt has tiny marks on it. Printer reads the marks and decide the printhead position.
I replaced my belt now my printer throws the head all the way to the left and makes a terrible grinding noise. What do I do now?
Your belt is installed incorrectly on the left. Check the tension
