  • Earlier this fall I bought a 1928 Pontiac sedan. Not sure why but I did I originally had the intent to make it drive but decided to so the lawn art route, as this is a large project for someone. That said I did want to put it together so someone can see the potential of that the car can be.
    00:00 What I bought.
06:09 Figuring out the jigsaw puzzle of a 28 Pontiac.
09:25 Assembling the 28 Pontiac sedan
17:19 Putting the body on the chassis
25:15 Building windshield post from scratch.
37:29 Banging out the fender dents
42:03 Walk around of the car.

You could always offer the use of your garage to people wanting to buy it yet don't have the tools and space to work on it. A small monthly fee for storage and make an agreement on the shop time. Heck, if I were close by wouldn't mind hanging out with you while restoring my old jalopy. Thanks again for another longer video.

Oh, I'm sure you'll get this back together. WOW! Cars from that era were so narrow..I know, people were smaller then too..OK, it's pieced together. Now I understand why the frame seemed so long. A straight 6 would be right at home in that engine bay..

    • @rogercamp6071
      @rogercamp6071 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Pontiacs from that era came with six cylinder engines, watching this I remember my dad telling about he and several classmates for whatever reason took a '28 Chevy (that came with a four cylinder engine) and replacing the body with one from a '26 Pontiac, I never bothered to ask why they did that though.

Brent, You an't put a Chevy 6 in this car ! If ever a car called out for a period hot rod engine its this one. In 1953 this car would have been considered outdated and in need of some serious upgrade. V-8's were just starting to come into their own and flat heads were at their peaks. Flat head V-8s were souped up but non-souped up overhead valve V-8's were already fast from the factory (but expensive) so Hot Rodders were looking around for cheap alternatives. The answer would have been a Flat head Straight 8 from a Chieftan. Find a Pontiac straight 8 that you can shoe-horn into this buggy and you'll have a Pontiac Rat Rod that could have been souped up by some post War kid who would have been about Elvis Presley's age!

Hey Brent, I'm not much of a sedan person, but it's great that you are saving it & moving it onto someone else..to bad you didn't have a flathead Pontiac motor, kinda hard to believe you don't have one or know where one is...anyway, I am looking for a set of Model AA truck or? Cab lights, there usually was three lights..I can't believe how that fender turned out from banging it out in the driveway....thanks for the awesome video!!

    + 1 for derermination.
    And for having vision.
    Really like thd box brake.
Scoring or slotting the sheet metal for bending is helpful if you plan to weld it anyway.
Had some checker plate i wanted to bend, so i left a few joining tabs and scored them. Bent my 90’s and welded it up.
I couldnt have been happier with the end result.
The post did turn out pretty good.

If you swap the front axle for a 1955-59 Chevy truck with a lot of drop, and put the spring on the outside of the frame.
Then the spring perches fit again.
Or a 1948-55 truck axle, if you will keep springs in original place.
You Can run a 90s nissan pathfinder and put it above the rear spring. Or a 1950-59 truck rear end (6bolt is same pattern as Chevy of the era), and then the after marked is open to you!
A 216” front motor mount fits under the timing chain cover, of most Chevy straight six. And puts it firmly in the front cross member.
And with a stovebolt six swapped in, a lot of gearboxes will fit behind it. And the aftermarket backing for them trucks are fantastic!
You can make a six sing, and freight train a lot of cars, with more carbs, fentons, cams and headwork!
    Sweet cars!
Even if you plan not to do it, this might encourage someone to buy it!

Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder or so they say. I didn't see that much in the back of a smaller truck ( a 1500 maybe?) and out is a rather large car of its time. You have it this far, now its if your bored the you go out to your local junk collection point and there sets a junky you have or got for a piece of stainless as they should call it gold. You just cut a floor pan out of another car with some of the wrinkles that you need to make a fake floor out of it for a real good target ........... So nice, way to go and I know its not right to stick my nose in... just ideas floating in my jello box

Heya man, the one lad from Penny's Hotrod on TH-cam here... he's a Pontiac freak and is also in Manitoba [cool channel if you don't already know them or not]. If you're looking to sell this, talk to him as he's very handy with the resurrection of the elder automotive Gems. He and a few of the other lads are working on a couple of Model A's right now [one's getting a Hemi like the one you featured recently] and the other is getting a small block Ford [302 maybe?]. Anyway... if you don't already know them I bet at least the one guy would LOVE this old Poncho to build up and Rod out. He's got a bunch of pontiacs from the 50's and 60's in a field that are fantastic as he loves the old Laurentians, Strato Chiefs and Canadian takes on those models and such. Love all the stuff you do. So cool to watch you move through the creative work on these cars. Fantastic! Oh ya... this is the same car my Dad bought the year I was born 61 [bought it used and put a new motor in it]. Some of my earliest and most favourite car memories were in this car :-) th-cam.com/video/wpXxo8Pa55g/w-d-xo.html
