    i stopped fishing the clear bobbers because if they hit one rock they crack and you're stuck re-rigging. i prefer balsa or foam. great episode Jordy!

    Just want to thank you again for the giveaways! So awesome, can't wait to use the gear. Very bittersweet my wife and I are taking our family to her extended family's cabin in Leavenworth for Christmas, or I would so be bringing them to the Saturday bash.
    I have a question about landing steelhead: I was able to get 4 on the line during the Summer, but couldn't land a single one. They were the first steelhead I've ever had on (thanks for the spinners tips on the Summer Steelhead Livestream), but do you guys have videos for instructions on landing these incredibly active fish? I was told to use 8 or 15 lb leader, and one of them was so huge it broke my leader on the 4th jump. Did I do something wrong or was that inevitable?
    I see Jordan tiling his rod to the side a LOT when landing steelhead, but the old timers teaching me and my best friend yell at me to "keep my rod up", but regardless of the approach, I haven't been able to land any of them. I'm going on my first out of town fishing trip (I don't count Merwin or Yale on my dad's smokercraft as a "fishing trip") for winter steelhead and I'm really nervous about landing a steelhead.

    • @jeremyphillips6229

      2 best ways are gonna be bottom bouncing or slip bobber rig. Bouncing can really be effective in big water to figure a hole out but can also be very frustrating retying so much. Just comes with the territory but gets better with technique and knowing the drift your fishing. Slip bobbers would be the best there considering all the structure and massive boulders. Hardest part is just figuring out how deep to set your bobber stop. Most of the waters you'll fish there is gonna be 12-25ft deep depending where and how far out your casting n wayer levels. You'll want at least a float rated for 3/8oz min but 1/2 and 3/4 specially are my go to. You can do a sliding or egg sinker fixed weight, split shot. Doesn't matter or even pencil lead sliding or fixed. Pencil lead is also what I recommend for bottom bouncing. Can be sliding or fixed. If fixed I recommend trying it to the tag end of where you tie the swivel to the leader with a swivel clip for quick weight changes. You'll need mainly half-1 oz. One tip is a larger pencil lead can be snipped down as needed to dial in quicker or without changing weight. I run 3-4ft leader bouncing and 2-3ft leader float fishing. Keep in mind if your fishing beads or eggs and get your depth set just right if you switch to a jig, you may need to increase the depth 6" to a foot to compensate for the facts that a weighted hook will sink further down than a weightless beads or eggs sack in the current.
      Sorry for the long response but I wanted to give you about everything you'd need to know. I can go much further in detail if you like so don't be afraid to ask

    Would a bait runner help instead of flicking the bail all the time just flick the switch and keep your finger on the line for hook set or line management?

    • @AddictedFishing
      @AddictedFishing  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You could definitely use a baitcaster.

      @@AddictedFishing what if your not a fan of the baitcaster? Would a runner help instead? Appreciate everything you guys do! Helped me dial in my spoon game

    • @jeremyphillips6229
      @jeremyphillips6229 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      A bait runner would not help. It may only make you slightly quicker to set a hook but they do not freespool anywhere near light enough to be effective. They will ruin the presentation. The other options outside of spinning gear would be baitcast or centerpin. Both present a drift much better, will leave less line on the water to need to mend as much and result in less missed bites being more direct to the float. You can set the hook much faster as well not having to close the bail and reel down the slack. 3x times as fast to set the hook on average. Centerpin is tough ay 1st but soon as you get the hang of it is surprisingly easy to fish and cast light setups and or longer leader much easier than a baitcast.

      @jeremyphillips6229 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@aggravatedtrade2254 anytime!... I will say when converting to any type of baitcast fishing, it's extremely helpfull to have a really good reel. Real difference maker in ease of use and effectiveness. Long rod and quality reel is the key to a baitcast setup. I personally use a 13ft spiral wrap that I recently upgraded to a daiwa tatula. Had a quality reel before but the tatula cast lighter stuff on heavier line much easier than the last reel and almost never backlash. Good reel gives you buffer and a long rod makes casting a long leader more manageable, specially with a baitcaster.
