Some guys are so concerned with trolling speed. Not me. Thats why i use spoons. It always has action no matter what speed im at. From kayak, im too lazy to sty above 2mph for coho. Ive got hits barely moving too. 😂

Hey just started kayak fishing last summer I have just gotten my new 13' ascend w/ 37lb trolling motor ready to go, where is my best bet for catching a blackmouth? Sticking to shoreline if possible..

@@collin2502 There's very good reason for it. A large chunk of undersized fish that are released don't survive. The fish released in this video will be just fine, but most fishermen aren't as experienced with fish handling, and will use knotted nets, bring the fish onto the boat, let them flop around. Additionally, fish that are brought up from great depth behind a boat with large hooks are just going to experience a lot of stress, and may not survive. It sucks but it is what it is. It's very important for many reasons. From a fisheries perspective, each undersized fish released is one less fish to catch next season, or should they choose to migrate out to the ocean, (70% of Resident Chinook do not according to a recent study from 2017) one less fish for our Summer Chinook season. From a conservation perspective, it's bad for our Southern Resident Killer Whales. Those whales need large Chinook salmon to survive. In many cases, the energy expended to chase small Chinook salmon just does not justify the energy those whales expend chasing the fish. Additionally, a few wild fish are encountered during the Blackmouth fishery. Are there many? No, Wild Chinook populations have been rapidly diminishing in the Puget Sound, but they are encountered. Every single one of these wildfish is precious, and they are also listed endangered fish. We have special permits to fish endangered stocks granted by NMFS, but because of this, we have to ensure that we are doing minimal harm to the wild fish. The only way for us to sustainably fish the oversized hatchery fish in Puget Sound, is to assume the worse with regards to mortality numbers on undersized, and wild fish. Many people think lying about released fish is a bright idea to keep our fisheries open longer, but fish and game is not as dumb as you think. As a result of the dishonesty, test fisheries are conducted, and data from these test fisheries is used instead of creel data. These test fishers are highly experienced, and catch far more fish than most fishermen, leading to skewed statistics that lead to, you guessed it: Shorter fishing seasons

I like how you open with “we’re using spoons to avoid catching short fish” then proceed to catch a pile of short fish… Downriggers catch more shakers than mooching or jigging, minimum 50:1.
I bet they out fish you 50:1
