Great advice here. The "flow" was something that took me YEARS to learn and people watching this can learn it in seriously 5 minutes. Would you guys be willing to make a video discussing how to overcome fears and anxieties that a lot of servers have? That was my biggest problem when I started serving/hosting...unnecessary fears and thoughts like my managers, co-workers, cooks, customers, etc getting upset at me...making mistakes, and forgetting to put orders in or take orders. I think a few videos on that would really help a lot of people feel more confident.
Thanks for your comment! Almost all the training we have is aimed to improve server efficiency and workflow. The more volume a server can generate, the more they can earn. It's that simple. Obviously gotta do a good job too but efficiency > salesmanship. Appreciate the suggestion! I'll see if I can come up with something. Most likely, it'll be a blog post here: realservertraining.com/
Thanks for this video! I had a stressful first dinner rush and this really helped. Taking orders from section > putting stuff into the computer right away is a good tip I’ll def be using in the future
You guys are the fucking GOATS. I’ve been a server for 6+ years and never gotten the kind of training yall are sharing and I’ve been the trainer. I would love the opportunity to be trained in person by y’all!! I’ve done a lot of gastropub/breakfast service and am starting at a fine dining place that I’ve wanted to a part of for years. I’m in ENC and would LOVE more content from y’all. Keep it up! It’s people like this that make what we do so special and important 💪❤
Hello! Super great video and I love your channel, would you both be willing to make a video about introductions at tables? At my restaurant I have to deliver my name, we’re a Spain-inspired restaurant, our food is served family style, and it’s coursed out, and any additional specials for the evening. It can be awkward to walk up to a table that’s only partially seated and then leave without giving the full spiel on the restaurant. Still, then they want to hop into drinks and food before their other guests arrive, but it’s also awkward to repeat myself every time a new couple sits down at the table. 😂 Any thoughts or advice on this? Thank you!
This video covers most everything about greeting tables: th-cam.com/video/wsnozuCYPCk/w-d-xo.html Re your question - let's say 2 are sat with more on the way - my intro may be more like hi i'll be taking care of y'all, once your friends are here I can tell you more about the concept, but while you wait, would you like me to get you some drinks? or I'll give a super short overview then more in-depth when friends arrive...
I am brand new to working in a restaurant. I have worked desk jobs as a student in college, but never in a restaurant. I just got a job as a server at a pizza joint in my hometown just around 2 weeks ago. I am really struggling to understand and master my work flow. I just can’t stop messing things up. I’ve worked 6 days a week for past two weeks and I just can’t seem to get anything right and I feel like I am stealing from the restaurant because of how many mistakes I’m making 😔. How long does it usually take for someone new to get into the flow of things? Any suggestions to help prod the process along for a slow learner? Thanks!
My boss got mad at me for not putting in order right away because it comes out too slow, and more importantly when you get to the POS, you put in multiple orders and slam the bar/kitchen. What do u think?
yeah I try to not to hold orders then put in like 10... I get a few orders, put em in, run food, get some more, put em in, etc. it's more about handling as much as I can while on the floor instead of darting back and forth with each order

Glad this helps! Take orders -> pre-bus -> dish -> put in orders to computer -> grab items for front -> set items -> take orders -> repeat :)

How often do you check on your table?
after serving entrees? just once. then every time I see a close to empty drink. Then to pre bus. ideally as few times as possible tho.
@@RealServerTrainingthank you so much!
Aight is overused 😅
I know! when you're on camera tho you just start using certain words as crutches
Stupid tip
why do you think so?
