Bringing back memories for me when l drove an impact protection vehicle (crash cushion) in road traffic management in London over twenty years ago. The Londoners that l worked with used to call me up for directions, l gave them a hard time. “Why is a wee guy from Aberdeen having to give you direction”, they replied “it’s not aar mana”. Great guys though.
I semi-retired in February. After 30 years tramping. The last couple of years delivering to London building sites. Battersea the new high rise mega bucks appartments. Not only Battersea, Cricklewood, Edgeware, Stepney, Hackney, Tower Hamlets, Greenwich, Park Royal, Acton, Beckton, Walthamstow, Edmonton, Enfield, Wembley, Ealing, Kew, Richmond, Hammersmith to name just a few around Greater and in central London. I delivered when Canary Wharf was being built nearly 30 years ago. Delivering using high sided trailers, a challenge especially South of the Thames more low bridges than North of the Thames. Yipee I no longer go to London, do I miss it ? I'll leave you decide if I miss it. 😅 😂

Great driving through that nightmare traffic and those roads. The markings there are unbelievable. Its the reversing however that I totally admire to be honest, so clever to see how you pull off those tight reverses. Excellent video thanks. All I'm going to be seeing now is that duck on the Culina trucks!

You are a first class driver, and show how not to get angry at the way that people drive in London. When I used to deliver in London the roads around London were the North and South circular roads. We used to park up where the Westfield Centre now is. Boy has it changed, I am glad I am retired and don't drive HGV's anymore. Keep up your lovely positiveness Keep safe, & don't forget to take a present back for the little un.

Don't know if you are aware or not, when you turn off at Beaconsfield and turn right on the roundabout to head towards the service's, instead of turning right on the roundabout, turn left towards Beaconsfield and on that duel carriageway there's a layby with a pretty good burger van that parks there... There is also another layby on the opposite side of the duel carriageway with a burger van, but I don't know what that one is like.... All the best and drive safe bud.
Builders Merchants is class 2 . But some of the roads are tight to get crane legs extended and management still expect delivery to be completed, even if it means compromising safety
My sympathy. Been there done that , from purfleet to the airport, 26 tonner with hiab . M25 was stuck both sides so boss said go through, never again !
Nice reversing id of had to get out for a quick look first day on class 1 tomorrow and first job central London if i can do the day without any accidents ill be happy!

How'd you ensure that the guy in the car behind you gives you room to start your reverse from the road into a yard. And that he's not so close you can't see him at all in your mirrors. Maybe a mention of it in a future video....?

Hi Darren. Really hate driving in London. Actually, its when I visit my step-daughter who lives in Staines. Hate it with a passion. Anyway, where reversing is concerned. I reverse everywhere when parking. The only time I don't is when going shopping in the supermarket, because of the trolleys. I do not want them touching other peoples cars. But anywhere else, I reverse in the parking spot. The more you do it, the easier it is. Believe me Darren, complain all you like about London. Its absolutely terrible and full of aggressive drivers. Concerning the police, personally, I think they use blues&twos, just to get past traffic, they're not going to any emergency. Personally, all bikers, whether pedal or motorised, should use the relevant cycles lanes or risk getting booked. I have to say Darren, you are absolutely 5* on reversing😄

That must be a pain at times because a lot of the roads aren’t built for trucks never mind the extra space needed for the legs

You’re completely correct about London Thomas. I always do the same for parking my car too, it’s just easier to drive straight out of a parking space
