Your question about being stuck at a green light, makes me think of something that happened to me yesterday. I was towards the front of a queue of traffic at a set of temporary lights, there was only one car in front of me, so I could see quite a way up the road, and when our light turned green, we set off quite easily, with no problem, but then, coming the other way, a berk in a merc, who'd either emerged from a side-road, or ignored his red light, got in the way. The berk didn't reverse, almost expecting the car I was following to do so instead, but because I was there, and had nowhere to go myself with a load of things, including vans, behind me, that wasn't going to happen. Fortunately, there was a gap in the cones that had been set out, so the Tesla I'd been following got into the gap, the merc was able to move far enough forward that the Tesla could get passed him, then once the gap was empty again, the merc actually managed to get into it, only, by the time he'd done so, the lights had clearly changed again, and the traffic behind him started moving forwards, even though it should have been patently obvious that their way was blocked. To cut a long story short, the merc was stuck in the gap he'd found, the traffic behind him all had to reverse back, and the queue I'd been leading were finally able to make our way out of the roadworks.
At 6:30, it's annoying when people just think about themselves and do not close up when traffic lights are indicating green. No tailgating is suggested, but as long as you can see the back wheels of the car in front, that's the separation that's needed. . .not 25 yards!!
Totally agree with what you say about vehicles ignoring a right ( or left ) turn only, and use it as an overtaking platform. You can see them edge over lines, creeping; waiting to race launch to get into your lane. It is amazing how many think the outside lane is meant for them and wont use any other. Except when all of a sudden there's a big queue in their lane.

Wrong. An exhaust emissions test has been part of the UK MoT test since 1991 (1994 for diesel vehicles). That particular van would likely fail even a visual inspection, let alone the machine test.

The smoking van through Reigate has likely got an issue with the EGR valve. The MIL will be on, and it definitely wouldn't pass an MOT like that. If he continues to drive it, the DPF will also clog up, meaning an expensive repair.
No forward planning or looking ahead and thinking 2 or 3 moves in front, there is a breed of driver nowadays who takes for granted that others will do the thinking for them because they are oblivious to their surroundings and they don't even realise it.

re. 8:07 - 8:30 when I did Compulsory Basic Training for motorbike, I was taught that when filtering, you always do it on the right, so you're not in people's blind spot, and you always do it slowly (preferably in first gear), so people have plenty of time to see you coming - what the cyclist did was very stupid and potentially dangerous

I don't agree. Why was it the wrong time? As he is narrow then he can fit between cars, the traffic ahead was going slower. I think LDC made a big assumption that the cyclist gave the emerging car a 'filthy look', he simply could not see at that distance what kind of a look he gave. The cyclist merely turned his head to check what the emerging car was doing. The traffic flowed ok with no danger. I'm afraid this is just LDC wanting to have a pop at cyclists.

boy did i have an encounter yesterday, was travelling on a bus between Woking and Guildford, just left Woking railway station when a TITD (totally idiotic toyota driver) who had enough room to turn around decided to reverse out, hitting the bus i was travelling on, minor damage just past the doors, bus was driveable and no one was hurt, the bus driver wasn't happy and the drivers exchanged information, bus driver informed the company about what happened and then we continued on
I had a nasty experience on the 11th. I parked my car and got out only to hear a knock on the door 5 minutes later. My car had rolled down a slight slope and hit my neighbours VW beetle causing damage to the rear subframe. I was mortified as this was my 1st ever accident in 40 years of driving and it's now my 1st ever insurance claim and it happened to my neighbour🤕🤕🤕🤕 This is the 2nd beetle she's had written off in just under 6 weeks so I advised she didn't buy another one but she didn't see the funny side of things. I really am gutted for her and I must have apologised 20 times in a couple of days😮💨😮💨
I'm starting to wish that very there was a separate DVLA License class for the likes of these Rage Rovers or Maybachs. These vehicles are almost as big as category Cs and are far too often driven by little people with an entitlement complex. Every place in the UK now has one mini roundabout (like that one of yours on West St/A232) where no one in a Rage Rover wants to give way. The problem is systemic now. People who want to drive these bigger vehicles should take an extended driving test which focuses on PSM and MSM. They're shit drivers because many of them are tiny and can barely see their mirrors let alone their blind spots.

I've got a theory as to why the drivers of German cars behave "differently" (the restrained description) to the other road users. When they manufacturer a German car a gss capsule is inserted into the ventilation system that causes a chemical frontal lobotomy of the driver's brain. Therefore we end up with moronic behaviour. It doesn't seem to matter where in the country one lives the bad driving is rife.
Why is that people with a dashcam think that having a dashcam makes them right? This person is case-in-point. Terrible driver, does multiple dangerous things in this video all the while ranting in this incredibly annoying commentary that just shows how clueless he is.

I am no expert on DPF regen; but I didnt think it was supposed to produce plumes of exhaust under JUST acceleration, but all the time it was running.
