    Sorry dude, that sucks. But to be honest, that is on the Dealer, all of it.
    Everything you said, was super shady from that dealer. Are you even sure that is your bike? Its quite possible they swapped everything on your bike with parts from a donor salvage bike. That scenario explains all of the irregularities. Nothing explains the tank, not only that, wtf does a brand new for sale bike on their showroom have a used tank on it from your bike? Were they going to sell that? If you hadn't called would they have ever known? Shady indeed...

    A "Dealership" like that should be reported to Honda.
    The corporate office of Honda would not approve of a "Dealership" like that tarnishing the Honda name.

      I really don't think manufacturers care about their reputations these days. They have a take it or leave it mentality. I see it in every business I deal with, every single day; customers are treated like scum. At least that's how it is in the US.

      @@findingneutral It's as though we live in a class system; and the customers are the peasant class. For example, if I go to a motorcycle dealer, the salesmen don't even ride motorcycles, and you can tell they look down on you, and just want to take your money. The same thing if I go to a boat dealer, the people who work there are not interested in boats themselves, and they have the same attitude. It's a crazy world we live in these days. I don't see how a person can be hired to work in a field they know nothing about and that they actually seem to despise.

    You mean to say that Honda did not send you a recall notice and make an appointment at the dealer to replace the crankshaft? This recall was free and in the USA there where 58,000 that were replaced. There were no charges for anything. You are dealing with a bad dealer and you should have said who they were so others could avoid them.

      Thank you stopping by our channel and for the kind words. No doubt I will continue ridding. As for the bike problems I'd have to say I believe that it is a Honda problem at least in part. I believe all my issues were based around the recall and to be fair a lot of bike manufactures have had recalls in the past. How mine was handled by the shop was really the big part of the problem.

    I've been riding for 37 years and would not trust dealership to do anything right. It took me a few years to learn that (the hard way) but that's just the way it is. Honda builds the most reliable bikes in the world but you really should get on a forum for that bike and learn to do you own work.

    • @BEEBEE159
      @BEEBEE159 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't trust people to touch anything I own, including my cars or house. I, too, learned that lesson early in life. The so-called "professionals" sabotage things so that it's an endless stream of repairs, and cash flow going to their shops.

    Hey 86mstr,
    This happened to me some years back. I got a bike and a week after having it, it needed to go back to the dealer. I went back and forth with the dealer just like you. Picked it up and it would still breakdown. I spent more time pushing the bike then riding it. One cold night it broke down on me and I had to push it several miles home. I was through. I ended up writing a letter to the manufacturer and cced the dealership owner. After that the service manager called me and begged me to bring the bike back in and fixit right. I did and didn’t have any more issues relating to that situation with the bike after that. Like you, I never felt comfortable about the bike and decided to trade it in on a bigger and better bike. My advice to you is to let that lemon go and not do business with that dealership anymore.

    I like your story. I had the same thing happen with my '06 Vstrom 650. Tranny problems, day 1. The Mfg. would not let the dealer open the crankcase. The dealer and I had 3 conference calls with the nationwide Suzuki rep. Suzuki said "NO", over and over. Dealer told me to be as rough on it as possible and try to break it. I totally respect that dealer. But... I sold the POS and will never buy a new Suzuki again. You and I both got a lemon.
    My advice is dump it and move on. Every time you ride it, that shite is in the back of your mind. I don't need that, you don't need that. Thanks again for your story.

    The gloss at the front counter and the high shop rates hide the fact that much of your mechanical work was done by some shit for brains kid, or dim bulb drunk, and the service manager is one of those guys who never makes mistakes or does anything wrong ever. When that engine recall was done, you should not have had to pay a dime for anything, And the 3-4 months of down time should damn well been reflected in immediate failures during the new run in period.. of an equal length of time. The truth is they have too many models with too much high tech stuff on them..and they cannot keep up with the training... Now, everybody who adds and aftermarket pipe is gonna burn up thier valves if they dont find a way to enrichen the mixture... this truth is older than time. So just don.t

  • @ws8080
    @ws8080 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    They swapped the tanks and insulted you with "did you put the key in right"? Please... They seem completely incompetent. Maybe the manager doesn't know his maint crew sucks, but an incident like that should raise red flags for them to deal with and make it right. "We don't know how it got swapped... probably the same way the oil filter was in wrong" tells you they do KNOW they are screwing up. But with the current labor issues, I think shops are afraid to look for mechanics. It seems like the Honda dealer near me has almost a non-existent reputation - stealth mode - vs the other dealers, so now I wonder about here. Which means I might get a Yamaha or Kawasaki instead :-) After all the trips and errors, the last repair should have been free to you. Sounds like they finally got to that correct ending for you at least.

    They are right about the exhaust part - anytime you change either the inflow or outflow from the engine, you need to retune the fuel mapping to the new setup. As for swapping your tank with one that was on the dealership floor, however, that's just a major red flag of a shop I would never trust.

    1:40 to 1:43. Well HONDA, had you just designed this with a SCREW ON type oil filter like you did for your cars ( my 05 civic si for example) which you, HONDA, could have done, this situation wouldn't have happened..even IF 86mstar was allegedly at fault here. Because with screw on type oil filter, there is only ONE WAY..it will attach to the mounting ....area. This is just another reason I hate the stupid cartridge oil filter deals. More expensive and leaves a small chance of this problem happening.

    This bike is known for oil starvation when you put the oil filter backwards. the rubber gasket stuck to the filter needs to go towards the engine. Many aftermarket filters may not have the arrows printed on the filter. There are also several forums that talk about this issue. I kind of regret buying this bike because of this issue.

      I was wondering what yall are talking about and its not an issue and I wouldn't be concerned at all. But the recall yea thats a tad concerning. Clearly the opening goes over the hole and clearly if you put in backwards and close off the oil umm yes that stops oil from circulating. LOL. WHO WOULD DO THAT I MEAN REALLY. I doubt he put it in backwards but it should be common sense how the oil filter goes and even if you didn't take it off and now you had to figure how to put it on it should take you 1 second to figure out. If anyone cant do that right SHOULDNT BE RIDDING A MOTORCYCLE lol

    Suzuki did near exactly the same thing to my son with a brand new GS 500F because he had done the oil change on it. I told them to fuck off with their 3000$ rebuild. Then the parts they gave me back in the box didn't have the GS crank in it. It was a crank from a from a Honda 250 twin. Lesson learned is motorcycle warrenties are not worth the paper they are written on and the shops are complete crooks.
    I fixed the bike by buying a 700$ motor off Ebay, put it in myself now the bike has another 80,000 miles on it. I'll never buy another new bike from any dealership. Get one with a few thousand miles on it and take your chances.

    I feel angry for what you have experienced, personally I try to avoid the stealership at all cost, they can’t even do a oil change right, and they try to sell you the world when you purchase from them. I recently bought a 17 abs model to use as my city commute bike. I have a 99 vfr800 for a while. I found the throttle of this bike is rather choppy compared to my vfr, I don’t have lot of experience on other bikes, but when I was in first gear, any little twist on/off unsettles the balance of the bike, which makes low speed maneuvering skeptical(at my skill level of course). I have a video on my channel, which I tried to show the issue, crack open the throttle by like 1mm and the bike revs to 5k rpm, not the case for my vfr. What’s your opinion/experience on that?

    You Sir, are a good person. A lot of businesses take advantage of good people like you. You should not have had to pay for first repair to start with.
    One should not ride a 2 wheelers thinking it may break down a next red light! Not safe and not healthy.
    Stay safe 👍

      He really didn't have any choice. If he doesn't pay the bill, they will keep his bike. Whenever you drop your bike at a shop, you are required to sign a contract that states if you don't pay the bill, then they can seize the bike.

    I'm sorry to hear about all of the issues you've experienced with this bike. If it were me, I'd unload it and steer clear of that dealer. It's hard to rebuild trust in a bike after all of this. Hope you find some better luck in the future. Take care.

    Sorry to hear about all your trouble. Thanks for sharing your experience with us. I don't even own a motorcycle; I'm still researching whether or not this is something I want to get into. One thought crossed my mind though, as you mentioned the bike had a different gas tank...Did you check the VIN number of your bike? I'm just curious whether that's the bike you originally gave them, to have the engine rebuilt.

      Thanks for checking out my channel. I did check the ven....good thought. I sold that bike last spring and bought a z900. I'm real happy with it so far. I have a video or two of it on this channel if you want to check it out. And I hope to get another video with updates as soon as I get some good riding weather.

    What a horrible experience you have had with this bike. I purchased the 2015 brand new for my first bike. I've put less than 3k km before I got the recall... after hearing your problems with this bike I am glad I traded the CB300F for an 01 VFR800.

    • @86mstar
      @86mstar  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      How do you like the VFR 800? I'd love to see any video you have shot on it.

      86mstar what I miss about the CB300F is its light weight the looks and how flickable it is. But after hearing the V4 gear driven cams in person I fell in love. I am enjoying my VFR and it truly is a great all around bike. It is a bit heavier but I am able to manage the weight for being 5'7". Seat height feels lower on it as well.
      I'll try uploading some videos this year if I can find my go pro.

    Hi, Purchased this bike from a female rider who only put 60 miles on it. I had the crank shank recall service performed on it with no problems before or after the service, thank goodness but I wanted to ask you, what exhaust do you have on it that made the bike run a little hot and how Has it been running since? Thanks for the video hope to hear back

    • @86mstar
      @86mstar  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not hot, just a bit lean but in specs. I rode it 1 more year and no problems. I sold it to a friend so I'll keep you up to date.th-cam.com/video/8hcFHs78_kw/w-d-xo.html and th-cam.com/video/7Ga6FKyWQu4/w-d-xo.html thanks for coming to our channel. hope this helps. Just about all the bike companies are building their bikes in Thailand these days. Yamaha is making their bikes in Indonesia, which is even worse.

    • @86mstar
      @86mstar  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not sure , I don't know anyone with one. The 500 is getting into the price point of a lot of cool bikes. Don't think it would make the cut for me.

    • @chuyonthego
      @chuyonthego 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the quick reply . Sorry if I’m picking at you but would you mind mentioning the cool bikes around that cb500f price point .

    • @86mstar
      @86mstar  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Your within 1k of list price of a MT 06 or a ninja 650 and if that extra grand is a deal breaker you could look for new last year models, Lots of time they sell them at a discount to make way for the new models. I did that last year on my 17 z900. not quit the same price point but it shows the deals are out there. Not to mention with 6k to spend the amount of great low mile used bikes is endless. Good luck with your hunt and I hope this helps.
