Thanks for your videos. I can confirm that free travel for over 65s includes the 100E bus. Since turning 65, I have never had to buy a ticket. I have either shown my ID, or I just smile and say "good day" and they wave me through. I live abroad, but I have a Hungarian ID card. I think it would be same for everybody over 65, regardless of which country they are from.
Dear Ákos and friends, we love you guys and your channel. You are my go-to channel when people ask me the what's and where's and how's and when's about Hungary. And of course I, too, learn a lot about my second home. Thank you, and here's to 100 000 subscribers more!
Congratulations on your 10K subscribers. We are also in the IT industry. We spent a wonderful week in your city thanks to all your videos and followed a lot of your suggested locations, food and beer (IPAs). Thank you and best of luck growing your channel.
An excellent live stream Stuffed Cabbage Adventures Team, you gave lots of great and useful information. I think it was a great way to bring all your channel supporters together from around the world. I think you should do another one one day. 5/5 stars *
Gratulálunk! We love your channel and look forward to seeing more of beautiful Hungary. (PS you are correct that you must have a address card (lakcimcartya) to get a bank account.
Congrats, Stuffed Cabbage Adventure Team ! 🎉 I am going to visit Hungary with enthusiasm and confidence, in part, because of your videos. THANK YOU. When you said “appretiv” and showed that small dark bottle, I thought you were going to drink Italian basalmic vinegar. 😆 LOL.
Hehhe! It's a common practice in Hungarian households to get your stomach moving and your appetite up with a shot of something, usually Pálinka or this lovely dark drink of Unicum :D Balsamic Vinegar would be a punishment XD
Awesome live session. I missed it being live but loved watching it later and learning so many more things. I reckon the 100000 subscribers wont take long now as the channel and videos are truly enjoyable, fun and informative. Well done with the live session. BTW was the live session advertised on TH-cam as i missed the notification. All the very best for the future from Perth, Western Australia
Thank you so much for following us from so far away 😊 the livestream was announced on a few Community posts and insta, but we are still figuring out how to get the message out better in the future 😊
Love you all guys! Just came to one and only Budapest to celebrate my bd, so if you have the place where I could buy your T-shirt I would love to! Especially the inspired by Prague one)) Congratulations! Yay! Hope to see more!
Thank you! I hope you have a lovely Birthday celebration here :) Unfortunately at the moment there are no physical stores where the t-shirts are available (maybe one day, but for now that's a bit far :)) they are available online via order. :)
Thank you for your video’s. We are in Budapest now. Your video’s have been very helpfull when preparing our trip, and while we are here. Also your video’s are fun to Watch. So please continue making more great content. We think that you should also make video’s about trips to Gödölö and to Visegrad. Both trips are excellent. Our personal opinion is that the streetfood is may be a little over rated. But the pastry is just great. And also we found that many bakeries are very good. So may be you can also include info about all the great bread specialties. Finaly we made one big mistake with the public transport. You correctly explain in your Szentendre video that you have to buy supplementary tickets when you have a Budapest public transport pass. But later I found on the official website that you can use the pass for the “H” train lines, however only in Budapest. And here is the problem. For a foreign toerist it is impossible to understand what is inside the “Budapest region” and what is not. The same is impossible to understand for Gödölö, where you have the additional issue that there are two completely different trains going there. So may be make a video about this some time? Thank you so much!
Hey there! Thanks for the detailed message! :) Gödöllő, Visegrád and other "Day-trip" destinations are planned for the future indeed :) Regarding Streetfood, I can kind of agree, in all honesty we don't really have that kind of streetfood that most people think of when they hear the word. I am glad you found some of the nice bakeries. In the past few years many contemporary bakeries popped up with excellent quality of baked goods. Will see how we can make a video about them in the future :) And indeed that trip from Budapest to the locations like Szentendre and Gödöllő (and other places) is a bit convoluted... the solution they have aims more at locals who commute within the boundaries of Budapest but the explanation could be more clear for visitors who are not used to this.
I'm sorry I could not join you but happy to see you now ... I would pass on the Unicum too ... one of the few things I really cannot stand ... 8 pm so we're allowed to drink, in the country where the kocsmák open at 5 am? 🤣 I think the difference between rural Hungary, the smaller cities and BP is disappearing fast. Of course, BP has al the facilities of a big city that smaller ones don't have, like a metró and tram network and more international restaurants. But the basic facilities we all need are virtually everywhere in the country nowadays. I remember the days in my youth in the small (then even much, much smaller) village of Bősárkány in the Hanság region when we had to go to the well in the centre of the village to get drinking water in large basket flasks every other day because the water from our own wells was not drinkable because of a too high iron content. And burning the core of corn cobs in stoves for cooking and in winter for heating ... I learned much of my Hungarian tongue from my aunt Matild during scraping off the dried kernels of the corn cobs together. Though with a strong Hanság accent and words, which our family from BP always sternly corrected; "húnvan" instead of "holvan", that sort of things. In my memory in Hungary in every village, however small, there was always a presszó where you could have a coffee or a drink and FAGYLALT (large one for 50 Fillér!). And many times you could also eat there; real traditional Hungarian dishes cooked by local cooks (in my memory, they were always grannies). The best food I've ever had. I can still see the places before my eyes and for some places, I can even remember the food that I ate there, although I haven't been there in at least 40 years ... I don't even know if these places still exist. Bősárkány, Csorna, Alsóőrs, Csopak, Badacsony, Miskolctapolca, Lillafüred, Bükkszentkereszt, Kistelek, to name a few small villages that had fantastic presszó's. Everywhere I've ever been to in Hungary, you can always find good food. And as goes for all places: go where the locals go. Did I get it correct that your friend's name is Mati? That would be very befitting because mattie (spelled slightly differently but pronounced the same) means a very close friend or mate in Dutch and I sense you are matties ... As most of the time, you've initiated a trip down memory lane again ... and then I talk to much 😱 but thanks again for a wonderful video, love to you all and hope to see you again soon!
My good frient is Márton, the english equivalent would be Martin :) But we nickname it Marci (Mahrtsi) :) But that's fun what you mention cause he is definately my "first mate" :D I am really glad that our videos can take you down Memory lane :)
We are working on making a video about Vegetarian and Vegan places :) Vegetarian is fairly easy as almost all restaurants have at least some Vegeterian option, most of the contemporary restaurants offer many different vegeterian options. I have heard about the Happy Cow app which is very useful when it comes to finding Vegan, Vegetarian, Gluten free etc places. But hopefully a video will be out before September :)
