    I love my kinvara pro. Wish they had rubber on the outsole. As a heavier runner, it's comfortable and lets me pick up the speed or go 10+ miles. I'm 6'3 260-270 and have taken it 8 to 11 min paces. I also have plantar issues and it gives me the boost and cushion. I use it as a daily trainer. I also have the shift and the speed and the super comp v4. Its my favorite shoe I've ever touched.

    I’m 222 lbs and wear a size 15 wide. I don’t have a lot of choices when it comes to this type of shoe! It’s good for the big guys

  • @sahacking
    @sahacking 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +9

    It definitely softens up after 30-50 miles. I love it as a long run shoe. I'm hoping if they come out with a second version that they cut 2mm of Powerun off the midsole and add a thin layer of rubber in high-wear areas. I prefer the Kinvara Pro over the Saucony Endorphin Speed series for long runs because the Kinvara Pro has the bounce from the Powerun PB, but it doesn't bottom out on a long run. Feet feel better after the run. For reference I weigh 150 pounds. I also have the Adidas Boston 12, but I definitely prefer the Saucony Kinvara Pro.

  • @ABucc
    @ABucc 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

    Besides what many people say about the Kinvara Pro, this is one great shoe. The midsole is firm, but for some reason, feels very comfortable underfoot. This shoe is enjoyable for my long runs with no issues whatsoever (IMHO).

    • @supwell
      @supwell  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      How many miles did you suffer through? For me they improved around 30 to 50 and then became an all time fave past 100. But I don't always like suffering through miles to get to the good part

      @@supwell 'Suffer' is the right word. Someone recommended walking around in them, to soften them up, but even that was extremely uncomfortable in the beginning. I'm not a high mileage runner, and am in the fortunate position that I have more than enough shoes to not be forced to use it, so I'm now at the point where they 'don't completely suck'. Probably around 40-50km, which would fall in the range you gave. Hearing you talk about the Kinvara Pro, and that look on your face, just felt so relatable, even the part where they felt better going faster. Doing hill sprints in the Boston 12 gave me a glimpse of why people like it so much, so I hope to love it some day.

      Took on my second run today (first long run) and the shoe is great. I like the extra stability for long runs and it felt good at every pace. A nice cruiser. Same weight as my Brooks ghost max which give no energy back and feel super clunky.

    I’ve had a pair for a long time, and they are this strange shoe that I almost forget about for long stretches. Then I put them on for a run, and I end up loving the experience. The strange part is that I can’t really identify why. They just sort of work perfectly for me (big dude, pretty slow, like to go far).

  • @RobertBruno
    @RobertBruno 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Agree with others that they soften up around 50 miles. First few runs in it are crazy firm. Almost 300 miles on mine. I would definitely rank these behind New Balance SC Trainer (1 and 2). Great video as usual!

    I was thinking exactly the same thing about your weight and pace conversation when it comes to shoes. I’m a tall 210 lb runner and this shoe feels like it has the perfect cushion for me at mid pace 8:00 min miles but the ability to go faster. With the extra weight other “max cushioned” shoes feel like they bottom out and crush underneath me where this feels like it bounces back. But I definitely agree that if your not heavier or running at a faster pace this shoe is gonna feel firmer than you’d expect but if your heavier and looking for an in between race pace and super crusher this hits the sweet spot for me for marathon pace or slighter slower runs where I want the response but don’t want to use my race day shoe. Definitely a very niche shoe but I’m glad they made it cause for me it hits that spot perfect.

    I just picked up some Kinvara Pros a month and a half ago and they’ve been my daily’s. I initially hated the stiffness but after 50 miles in they soften up a bit: they’ve been growing on me. I did buy the wide and they’re fairly comfortable. I was a little worried about the outsole durability but they seem to be holding up pretty well after a 100 miles in. Though I will say that I’m not too keen on getting another pair.

    Hi Sr. thank you for your amazing shoes review, tips, and thoughts around running, I was so hard trying to get the Boston 12, and when finally I was able to wear it, everything was wonderful, except the upper, the edge around the ankle was bothering a lot.
    And about Kinvara Pro, I had that same feeling but when I run in Endorphin Pro 3, for me is very stiff, not getting popup like with Nike Vapor Fly version 1 😅
    Thanks and regards.

  • @Trwoodward
    @Trwoodward 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Like others have said, it does soften up a lot, and I always feel like it wants me to up my cadence, even for slower paces - rolling over the shoe more than compressing it and bouncing back up

    Great couple videos this week..almost my running shoe history..I started in the Saucony shadow and jazz shoe in the 70s and 80s..eventually moved up to the hokas and then into the nike epic reacts..that was the best for me for several seasons,but only in the white colorway..the other colors not as good..I often used the kinvaras until the rebels came out and mostly now in the hokas,tyr and diadora shoes..during this journey I often go back into the Saucony s and they really haven't changed much in the last 50yrs..really enjoyed this journey down memory lane..😂😂..it's ok if you can take the Charlotte weather back down there..😅

    In the spirit of running with what we have and getting my money's worth, I'm trying to find a way to make the Superblast work for me. I did OK today on a slow run. Its good qualities are that it is very comfortable on foot, it's protective, and it doesn't flatten out on a long run. That Mizuno Neo Vista is calling me though.
    Also, I really like the openness of your neighborhood. I'm about 10 miles east of Los Angeles and my neighborhood is nice but considerably more packed in than yours. On the other side of L.A., it's really crowded (and a little dirty) because you're getting closer to the beaches.

    What shoes offer their benefits with lower impact forces?

  • @TGoat5
    @TGoat5 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    Could you try a weighted vest for a mile or two and see if you can tell the difference in firmer shoes? I would need a big helium balloon to get down to your weight.
    At the end, you mention the old pwrrun Rides, I picked up a cheap pair and have been really liking them. Like these KinPro's, I think the ZoomFly5's might be another shoe that get poor reviews from the light, fit sub 3h marathoners, but could do well for the "average" 4h runners.

    People frequently say Sauconys tend to run narrow but I just bought my first pair from them, Hurricane 24s, and they are quite capacious in the forefoot for me. I measure spot on 12D and buy everything in that size (except Nikes, which I avoid because they tend to be too narrow in the toes at my size and too long if I size up). Is the Hurricane slightly different from other Sauconys or is there something weird about my feet?
