A mate of mine has a full original VB HDT in a garage in the bush that's being sitting there for the past 25+ year's. It has not moved.

It wouldn't be a VB as HDT only did VC onwards.

True if anything I look at these old commodores and think how small they look compared to new cars these days, a Toyota corolla looks bigger

That same car was up for sale and they wanted 18K for it at auctions, so to buy that would be a dream and someone did and now its worth over 100K ? I believe is was on 2014/15 ? Also they were dime a dozen along city road or hume why car yards back in late 1980's all different types VB/VC/VH and even VK's and VL's starting prices were around the 15K yet the same cars now are worth over 50K easterly, because brock died ?

Brock build #1 - wow! That is a classic car. That really should be in a museum, not being driven around... Funny thing is, you could get out of a sporting sedan today, lets say an AMG or an M3 or something, into that car, and it would not feel or perform (or handle) too bad. (Don't ask about the brakes, that's another story...) But you try and compare any other car made between '75 & '83 with a modern car, and you'll start to see why the Brock cars were such a revolution. Especially other Australian cars. We had a small car that handled half ok, Gemini, but that was a toy. It took about 22 seconds to do a 1/4 mile in one of those. And we had cars from the past, like XY GTHOs and 350 Monaros, that had some engine performance, but didn't handle anything like a modern car. The HO was tuned to eliminate the (standard issue) understeer that almost all cars of that time came with. It was actually quite neutral, but that seemed taily to folks at the time because for 20 years before that, everything had been getting more snow-plough and nose heavy. The first Commodore was a revolution for handling, and the Brock was even better. They were light-years ahead of pretty much anything else on the market. ...and in due course they even fixed the brakes, but not on the first couple of years examples...
