Anime-only watcher here, so I'm just speculating: what if the Hero that sealed Veldora away, and that spirit of time that went into Chloe, are both actually Chloe from the future? That would explain why Veldora reacted to her, and why that "spirit" that came through looked like it was trying to kiss Rimuru. Plus he gives the mask to her at the end before leaving.

My theory, cuz the manga hasnt revealed what all that was, Chloe grows up and becomes a hero. She ends up going back in time 300 some years ago with the mask, seals Veldora and hangs around till its time to save Shizu. Helps and trains Shizu, gives Shizu the mask and tells her they'll meet again (which they do when Shizu takes on lil Chloe and the rest as students) goes BACK to the future and then... unknown things occur forcing or allowing 300+ year old adult Chloe to send her spirit back in time to "possess" her younger self.
The entire first season or so is just a setup for the rest of the story, just one big prologue, the story doesn't truely kick off 'till Season 2 which starts airing the 12th of January next year. Shizu aged up because she had been kept looking youthful through some magical somehow. I assume it was just part of the summoning magic to keep the summoned at peak physical performance for as long as possible, since they are supposed to be weapons, but I don't recall it ever been confirmed or addressed in the light novels. There are a few different people watching Rimiru. Clayman was watching after Rimiru screwed up his plans with Geld/Orc Disaster. Veldora is watching from within and probably snacking on popcorn while he does it. That new character is the only other one that we know was watching him at this point, and I won't spoil anything about him except that he's great. The spirit of light is actually the only spirit of light. It would be better to give him capital letters and call him The Spirit of Light. It's said that only heroes and potential heroes are acknowledged by this spirit. The spirit of time. I don't think its much of a spoiler to say it isn't Shizu. Shizu is truly dead, and beyond that her soul is most likely kept in Rimiru's Stomach, so she couldn't reincarnate. I was sooo exited when in episode 8 you recognize that Shizu and The Hero who sealed Veldora were different persons, and then the previous episode you questioned whether Veldora ever reacted to Shizu (which the answer is NO), but he reacted to CHLOE. And now whrn the Spiritual Body got some reaction from Verdora and formed into one specific people we knew it wasn't Shizu but just had similiar coloring outfit.. Why you said it was Shizu??! She was obviously THE HERO!! Oh the previous video mistranslated about the children and Shizu came from the same time, it supposed to be the same AGE, because if the come in the same times and they only had 5 years to live, the already long gone, because Shizu already in this world for more than 70 years, since the Air Raid Attack in Japan from USA.

But this show got me hook, line and sinker fast! So yes, after I watched until episode 21 season 2 on the span of one day (hahahaha..) I didn't read the Light Novel, but I watched and listened to the TH-camrs who break down the Light Novel and tell them to us.. I like it when the Great Sage shows it's personality. Like back when it expressed exasperation when Rimuru forgot he had heat resistance. EDIT: However (And this is purely speculation). I'm not sure that the exasperation was due to Rimuru forgetting. And the guy that was spying on Rimuru with a looking class is actually someone that was trying to get summoned by Rimuru when he was giving a golem to the Demon lord fairy but his family (the other demon) took the spot and got summoned before him thats why the demon that was spying said "You finally summoned me, and my own family got of me"

Shizue was mentored by The Hero who sealed Veldora and gave her mask to her sometime before disappearing. Veldora reacted a few times to the presence of Chloe. Now we saw what appeared to be Chloe’s future self, who looks like The Hero, inhabit her younger self and stabilize herself. Theory: Chloe is summoned to the world, is stabilized by her future self, grows up, goes back in time, fights and seals Veldora, mentors Shizue and gives her mask to her, becomes energy (perhaps she dies but lives on in a new form), then inhabits her younger self to ensure her own survival. They’re dropping plenty of hints so I feel pretty confident about it. The scary thing about such a existence is it must life outside of conventional time. It’s existence is a paradox meaning it’s begging and end are unobservable within conventional time, appearing as a time loop. I have no clue where they’re going with this, but I think it’s fun.

The entire first season or so is just a setup for the rest of the story, just one big prologue, the story doesn't truely kick off 'till Season 2 which starts airing the 12th of January next year.
Slime, as far as Light Novels / Mangas go is very big. It has alot of volumes and the volumes themselves have alot of pages.
