a very easy way to pimp this recipe:
I've added Mozzarella chopped in small pieces at the and and gave it a good stir in a big circular motion. the whole thing gets a very nice orange color! the mozzarella gives it an extra creaminess which is perfect to balance the hotness a little bit.

Yes, they are. the tomato vine contains tomatine, and they are close relatives to Deadly Nightshade (Atropa Belledonna) However, Tomato vines typically are not dangerous unless large quantities are ingested. Fatalities though, have occurred in the past. The amount used in this recipe is almost certainly harmless unless you are very sensitive to this specific alkaloid.
    Love his energy! looks delicious!!

Gennaro...grazie mille! I have shared the secret of crushing the stems of the tomato and tossing it into the sauce with another site. Several people are freaking out, saying the stems are poisonous as if dinner guests are going to drop dead at the dinner table! LOL! I've put stems in my sauces for decades and have not lost ONE guest yet...nor have I had to beg anyone to sit at my table. I would not EAT the stem any sooner than I'd eat a lemon tree or the trunk of an Oak tree...too woody! Can you imagine how long it would take to soften ? But the stem gives the sauce a strong scent of fresh tomatoes! ( and it won't kill your guests...) Enjoy life, pasta, and the Amalfi Coast!

Indeed. The stems contain tomatine and solanine, both of which are highly poisonous.
