    I used to be such a big hobbyist breeding fish for so long but shut down my tanks after the 2007 recession and haven't had the pleasure to do it since. I tripped over your video here and it was such a Zen moment. Thanks for the incredibly relaxing and enjoyable time you've shared here. I hope to get to do this again some day.

    I don't have any tanks anymore, but still love watching your channel. Wish I had been watching before I sold all my tanks. Being a fish parent would have been easier on me I think. :) Thanks for putting up such helpful videos, that I'm sure are helping many who watch and learn from you. Some day I think I may set up a tank again.

    I've had success breeding Black Vail tail angle fish in a 25 Gal tank. I bought 4 juvies from my LFS. They grew and paired off. Took the remaining ones out of the tank. Left the breeders in by themselves. I had giant sword plants already growing in the tank. Once the babies hatched I honestly didn't know what to do next! lol ...So I just left them with the parents till free swimming. At that point I took the babies out of the tank and set them off on their own tank. It was a wonderful experience raising them till they were small mini replicas of their parents. Sold them back to my LFS and kept a few for myself. I still have the original pair and yes! They are still at it :)

    We used to breed Angel Fish, raised a couple of hundred thousand. We just let the pair breed in the tank and then take the leaf with the eggs and we would move it to a see through plastic container in the same tank so no water change impact with the leaf in it secured to a small stone with rubber band. The bottom of the plastic container we just put mesh and secured with a rubber band and then we just had a small diverter hose over.

    My fry system is set up almost the same exzact way but I put a Chinese food soup container in mine ware the water goes in and I make a little filter in it . Use rocks lava rock aqua char and kitchen sink scrubbers for the hole at the bottom . So each fry tub is filtered and the main fry tank is filtered . it works well from my experience and I also put a shrimp or 2 in the bottom of mine for more clean up

    Would a netted hatchery work for the free swimming stage? It'll allow the tank water to flow through but not allow anything else in or out

    • @donaldmiller4386
      @donaldmiller4386 8 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      I have had angelfish babies twice unexpectedly. I tried the netted Hatchery myself. The fish must suck them through because they always disappear. I ended up finding actual babies in my take just yesterday so I pulled out as many as I could and put them in their own tank. Hopefully it works this time.

    • @JoeyPierce

    • @donaldmiller4386
      @donaldmiller4386 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@JoeyPierce Yeah I forgot about that. I have had fish tanks in the past. I restarted with them again about 7 years ago and it seems even full-grown fish flat-out vanish in the 2 tanks I have. I started with nine angelfish in one tank. I currently only have four, and have only ever found one body. The other tank has African cichlids I started with six. I now only have two, and have never found a body. I have never had full grown fish vanish except for these two tanks.

    • @JoeyPierce
      @JoeyPierce 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@donaldmiller4386 it's really odd. I've tried 8 times with different techniques now to breed these fish and failed every time. The best I did was putting them in a hatchery with some methylene blue but after 16 days I put them in a 150ltr tank (all I had) and they all disappeared. They seem to just turn to dirt.

    • @donaldmiller4386
      @donaldmiller4386 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @JoeyPierce Yeah it's really strange how they just vanish. Especially when they're full grown. I don't have fish tanks to have babies intentionally, but I don't want to just let them get eaten. The ones I pulled out last night seem to be doing pretty well in their own tank right now. We will see you in 16 days I guess. lol

  • @hcjensen3824
    @hcjensen3824 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I breed angelfish aswell, but find it difficult to convinse them to take dry/flake food whe they are arround 2 weeks old. Here they go true a painfull starving period, and then finally accept flake food - and then everything is easy from there.
    How and when do you do that?
    Another thing i wonder is - have you found a good flakefood automatic feeder for that purpose, where the flakes doesent clump together in the mashine because it is in wet invirontment?
    Keep up the good videos!
    Cheers from Denmark!
