the keys is the ony thing i can explain. I have keys from my previous places of where i used to live. so its not uncommon to have a key that doesn't seem to fit. for the rest, wow good observation.
This is heart wrenching. No one knows what this guy was dealing with. As someone who suffers from mental illness this is both scary and motivational. Thank you for being respectful. Most people wouldn't have been.
I really appreciate how respectful and kind you are as you explore this situation. It is obvious you guys are compassionate, concerned, and not just exploiting the situation. Thank you for what y’all do, we love your channel!
Taking too much Ibuprophen can aggravate a stomach ulcer and cause one to cough up blood. I have a feeling that That is the source of the blood-stained tissues.
It'll be ibuprofen tablets with codeine, there's no point in just taking large amounts of ibuprofen unless you're trying to you're looking for a horribly painful death. Codeine, for those who don't know, is a opioid pain medication that can be abused (used to get high).
This was less disturbing and more sad. As others have said though, by creating this video you have let the world know that he lived and that he struggled. You handled this very respectfully.
Wow!!! It brought tears to my eyes. Thank God that you found something that his wife could at least have of his, you know. I know that it took a lot of praying, soul searching and thought to put this video out there but remember this, you did something fantastic for him. You, and the young lady, preserved his last thoughts, which are priceless to his wife, trust me. God bless the both of you and please be extremely, extremely, extremely careful when searching abandoned houses.
This is probably one of the first times where something actually disturbing has been found in one of these abandond buildings. Thumbs up for that, and thank you for good content!
I feel so sad for that man. He died alone in the middle of nowhere. RIP Jeff Kirkwoid Great job guys- very impressive how you respectfully and with care kept on looking for clues as to whom was living there. This is the first video I’ve seen of yours , I’ll definitely check out more! I don’t know how I got here but glad I did!!!😍
Honestly I am speechless, this video shares so much mystery and emotion. The diary entries made me go cold, something so sinister about the whole situation. Jeff died in 2015, but there was new blood, and other objects after you had been, maybe someone else knew Jeff was there, and stayed there after? I honestly don't have a good theory, but this video and every other from you is absolutely incredible 👍🏻
Yep felt it too. Its not built to be a house, no windows, doors or plumbing, odd empty gaps in the bricks, almost had me wondering if people were bricked in there, but thats going to a lot of effort to hide a dead body. The sleeping bag creeped me out, it really looked like someone was in it. I thought that was why the guy holding camera held off for a bit.
you guys are so dumb. its obviously some vagabonds camp. it wasn't destroyed, the person either moved on, or had to leave because of people coming around. these types of people aren't like normal people and have to be treated special. delicately. they are in defense mode.
Lacey both do, yes. They have mentioned it in several lives. Both packing legally with CCW. Thank goodness. I still wouldn’t go to some of the places they go.
Wow guys, this is one of the most amazing videos I've ever seen. Poor guy, may he rest in peace. At least now his family knows more about the mystery of his disappearance, thanks to your discovery, and your tenacity in following up on your instincts. ❤️
Him suffering the death of a child that wasn't paternally his just goes to show what a kind man he must have been! Really sad that he couldn't see the kindness in somebody else though as they could have helped him!
I like how cautious you guys were in the beginning and throughout the video, you didn’t dramatise it and “oh my gawwdddd”. Instead you guys were slow and careful for each others safety
it looks like he didnt want to be found or didnt want any help by the looks of it he went out and got those things but didnt try finding his way back home.. its a sad story! great video!
One of the creepiest, saddest videos I've seen on TH-cam. I hope Jeff is at peace now. Thanks you guys for discovering this place and putting an end to this mystery. RIP Jeff.

Poor guy. He needed professional help, and no one was there to help him. It was a miracle that he even found this building. Conversion disorder doesn't sound good at all. Did he have a child with him?
Wow guys..that is an amazing discovery. I feel bad for Mr. Kirkwoods family, but I am glad you were led to possibly his last 'home' if it can be called that. Keep up the searching.
Wow how that's amazing that you could help his family come to a conclusion with where is was before he passed. Did you ever find if he died from exposure or self afflicted?
@@ashvulpes probably just part of his skeleton with a few ratty sun bleached clothes around it, obviously no way to determine a cause of death, but yes probably from illness or dehydration, maybe pill overdose
I find the glasses strange they look like something a teen or a child would wear. I also find the child paintings on the wall weird. I think the police should have been called to investigate before the scene was destroyed.
Being an abandoned building, they may not be related. It is also possible that children visited the place when he was living there and did not want to tell their parents. Running away and mental illness does not mean that he was a violent man and who knows, he may have welcomed some non judgmental company. To me, the saddest part of the whole story was that his wife disowned him at his time of need. It happens all too often.
I agree. Too coincidental. Those glasses were way too small for him and were definitely designed for children. The paintings sporadicness would also be explained by a child. 3,4,5,6 years old doing it
I think that if you find a place that shows evidence of some one who is reported missing you should call the police. Let the professionals do what they do best. Who knows what went on their. It could have been innocent or it could have been something much worse. I would not want my child going there.
It's not uncommon for people who have lost their mind to draw random stuff on the wall. The glasses look about average size too. I theories that he was likely suffering from extreme dysentery towards the end, which would explain the medicine, vomit bucket and bloody toilet paper. Dysentery leaves you badly dehydrated and delirious, plus he was already very mentally ill. So could explain the weird painting.
At least you found where he was living before he passed and brought some closure to his family ..but you must start taking gloves with you ,just in case ..Your good people and if I was lost I would hope someone like you cared enough to look 😀
Cuphead squatters are people that live in places but aren't meant to be there. You can have house squatters. They stay in houses but are not supposed to be there🙂
That building looks so sturdy and well made, even after being left for so long without proper care - it's so so tragic that that place has gone to waste now Poor dude, I'm glad he at least found a place that was sort of safeish to live for a while after going missing, must have been in a very bad mental state. So tragic Edit: the Nintendo DS made me tear up, somehow seeing something so relateable in that place just makes it even more real and horrible
Thank you for doing all your research, in many ways you helped to fill the gaps for his family. I found this video so incredibly sad - bereavement, loss and mental health challenges could affect each and every one of us. All I'd like to say is that if anyone ever gets to feel like Jeff did, please, please, please - talk to someone! It's ok to not be ok. RIP Jeff
Sadly i can understand his desire to b in that place!! 😞 Depression etc slowly kills ur soul n u lay ur body down hiding from reality n ur truths n ... U wait--
Melinda you are so right. Depression guts you from the inside out, you isolate to try to survive and isolation just makes it worse...it is unbearably AWFUL. God bless this poor man.
Not to take away from his pain and story. But I have PTSD and I can stay away from people for as long as possible. It does get lonely but it feels so much better to not question reality. It’s scary. I once stayed at a friends abandoned house... no water, no electric, no food unless they brought me something, dirty dirty house. But I was happy to be alone and comfortable. I hope he is at peace now and we can know more about his last days. Rest In Peace.
That Blu e-cig box has to be fairly new! I bought stuff from them like 2 yrs ago. They haven't been around too long. Are those empty toilet paper rolls?! WTF happened in that place?! That's crazy! That blood is old, yet someone was there recently! Good thing that person didn't come back while you were there! Stay safe!!!

Wow what a deep video. You did a good job here. This is real journalism. I just feel so bad for that poor guy. I could not imagine living all alone in that building. .
Jeff Kirkwood's remains were found in this area on Dec 9th 2015. Journal entries stopped around July 27th indicating a possible time of death. These people made a great discovery in the road to closure for his family...this is truly amazing, I hope the EWU guys know that they did a good thing by continuing their investigation.

This is so sad, another example of somebody being abandoned by the system instead of being helped. Once it was discovered how much abuse went on in Mental Health Facilities, their answer was to shut them down rather than improve these places and make the treatment better for those who were in need of Mental Health help. Poor man ending his days in this way. It's amazing that you stumbled across this place. This was a truly gripping video.
I was thinking the same thing. But in the part two video I think everything was stolen and burned. I feel like before he uploaded the video he should have told the police. the whole story has been on my mind since I saw this video. I'm also a HUGE animal crossing fan so I was taken off guard when I saw the DS and Game. really crazy and so sad :(

Whatever happend must happend right after someone got the sausages, because you cant keep these for a long time outside the fridge.
We never know, to my mind this is a crime scene and its strange that the police is not investigation.
Thanks for the video and your courage stay safe man !

Juri Esser much of exactly what I thought
Also all of that blood... What could that be from? Hmm
Juri Esser wouldn’t they inform the police about the site and they could have tested that blood (dna) and compared if they found the man dead?
the keys is the ony thing i can explain. I have keys from my previous places of where i used to live. so its not uncommon to have a key that doesn't seem to fit. for the rest, wow good observation.
I'm not sure what you mean. Could you link the parts before/after
This is heart wrenching. No one knows what this guy was dealing with. As someone who suffers from mental illness this is both scary and motivational. Thank you for being respectful. Most people wouldn't have been.

It'll be ibuprofen tablets with codeine, there's no point in just taking large amounts of ibuprofen unless you're trying to you're looking for a horribly painful death. Codeine, for those who don't know, is a opioid pain medication that can be abused (used to get high).
lisa ILuVmYcatz You'd be surprised. Blood when mized with saliva can look a LOT more than it is
This was less disturbing and more sad.

His wife had a restraining order against him...

What a very sad story! Really nice of you to make this into kind of a tribute video for him! Sleep Tight jeff, Hopefully now you've found peace!

The guy who was sleeping in the abandoned building was dead, they found out after doing some research.

Nah, you're just trying to make yourself feel it
Yes, the music kills me
Yep felt it too.

I would not want my child going there.
no they were not
It's not uncommon for people who have lost their mind to draw random stuff on the wall.
How heartbreaking! This poor man. RIP Jeff.
At least you found where he was living before he passed and brought some closure to his family ..but you must start taking gloves with you ,just in case ..Your good people and if I was lost I would hope someone like you cared enough to look 😀

Not to take away from his pain and story. But I have PTSD and I can stay away from people for as long as possible. It does get lonely but it feels so much better to not question reality. It’s scary.
I couldn't agree more, he was definitely let down by the system and should have been offered more help.
Explore With Us An understatement if I ever heard one.

I was thinking the same thing. But in the part two video I think everything was stolen and burned. I'm also a HUGE animal crossing fan so I was taken off guard when I saw the DS and Game. really crazy and so sad :(
