My father bought one a few years back, put atv tires on it a small lift kit. The thing is an absolute tank in the snow and mud. I'll tell you know you'll never in a million years find one on any website for 900.00. They typically start at about 1,500 and about 800.00 to ship. Still worth it.
As someone who’s worked on a farm, we’ve used modified golf carts with dumping beds on the back, we’ve used gators that dumped too, would prefer this over them anytime of the day. Put some off-roading tires on them, could probably tow better too, not too much weight but better than a golf cart or gator
I had the pleasure of driving one of these in the military. It was left hand drive, but man was it a blast to rip it around base. Not super powerful but it's light enough it feels like it is.
And another thing they float pretty well too as mine slipped into a river and went down stream few miles down towards London and then it started first thing without flooding the engine either so miraculous cool 😎 van
Love my 4WD Hijet mini truck. I get lots of compliments when I drive it too. I should have held out for A/C. Heat index was 99F today. I'm reupholstering the seats and adding twice as much quality seat foam on the bottom (but not the back because I'm already close enough to the steering wheel), and I'll add heated seats for a bit of winter luxury. I'm also lifting it 2 inches and getting progressive springs in the front to mellow the harsh ride. It's criminal that we don't have domestic mini trucks in the US. They're great, and extremely practical.
Reminds me of my days on Okinawa. It was way too exciting learning how to drive a stick on the opposite side of the road on those tiny roads and tons of hills
I'd like to see a company make a kit to convert to LHD. I know RHD has some novelty value, but that would wear thin after a while. Also, some people have a hard time finding insurance for RHD vehicles.
That's stupid. Do you realize how much work it would take to switch to LHD? Would cost more than the truck itself. Driving on the right is no different than left, it's kinda fun actually. I had zero problems with insurance.
Opposite steering is something you get used to pretty quickly. And let's be honest, you wouldn't be overtaking anything in this! They are tremendous fun though 😁
They are $900 if you don't need it shipped to the us or somewhere other than Japan. It costs money to import it into the usa. Total is roughly 2 to 5000 dollars depending on the model. That's after import taxes and shipping on hundreds of pounds so expect it to be more expensive.
The trucks themselves aren't worth that much, the 900 is before import and any fixings. It's a few grand to actually import it and everything else is repairs.
I imported a 1996 4WD Hijet mini truck from Japan. It only had 45,000 miles on it. It cost $265 but it needed a $200 clutch installed. The shipping was $1935. I have close to $6000 in it now with upgrades and it's great. I love it.
I see those daily in WA. One thing I think about is if you get into a wreck man that's not gonna be good! Better to keep off the highway and avoid loads 18 wheelers!
Fun fact... Years of getting in the driver's side makes your body pretty much not be able to bend properly to get in on the passenger side with a steering wheel in the way. I'm 6' HWP and 35yo
I love small work trucks. It's crap that our fuel standards have ironically decreased fuel efficiency by forcing manufacturers to go bigger. If the modern ranger had an extended bed and it was a flat bed, my ranger could sit on it.
love leaning over the drive shift and push on the drivers knee lol can't do that in a right hand drive. Strange how Russia drives on the left when the rest of us stay on the left. 🇭🇲🦘🤫
Ik this is probably gonna go unseen or taken as disrespectful but if someone could donate a lil money for me to get my first car nothing crazy but been looking at some used Chevy cruise and some older Toyotas but not good luck with local dealers or seller with current budget 😭
Just realized something if your parents drove a normal left hand drive vehicle and you always get into the front passenger seat and then you buy a gdm K truck you will technically forever and will forever use the passenger side of a vehicle
I've always wanted one of these. I think it would be fun for in town driving. Put some road worthy tires on it and have fun.

Rumor is that some Kei trucks have dumping beds
@@LegendStormcrow a little bit of welding and a couple of hinges will turn any bed Into a dumping bed! Haha that’s dope tho!

A rural route mailman would LOVE that!
The van version would probably be better

So this is not the vehicle to try to make it look like your ex drove into a river and died? Good to know.

Been in one while in Tokyo. The newer ones are better on the roads but still fun
Love it! I do JDM car reviews so this was nice to see!
I’m totally getting one of these
Had a left hand 1000cc tiger great work truck
I love the TR808 drum machine license plate
Such a cool car!
Drove these around in Yokosuka super fun.
You have convinced me to get one now.

Nah LHD is wrong hand drive,RHD is what makes a jdm car jdm
You make good points. If someone could import and swap them, clean them up and refurbish a little, I'd pay up to 10k for a really good, reliable one.
Opposite steering is something you get used to pretty quickly. And let's be honest, you wouldn't be overtaking anything in this! They are tremendous fun though 😁
Japans Kei truck is GOOD DEAL ! ☘️
The website has tons of them but none are $900. You must have gotten lucky.

Honestly, a few grand in import shit and repair still makes it a better deal than some used cars already in the US.

Learned how to drive a manual in one like that. But I think the one I was in was a Suzuki.
I’d love to know what it took to register it with the state , makin me consider one for a work truck as long as SOS isn’t a nightmare
I think as long as the one you get is old enough it’s pretty easy.
Michigan technically they can't be unless there plated for farm or you find a sec of state that doesn't care. Bro in law got his plated took 2 years
He went to the u.p. and had them plate it as a farm vehicle
@@dudleydriller that’s exactly the answer I expected shame really

How hard is it to get bee stings inspected and registered in States like New York

I'm 6'7. They're great on gas but everytime I hit a bump in a friend's truck it always ended up having my head being a ballistic test with the roof.
Can these be licensed and driven on the road ? In the USA
The gas is small like that in my Honda Fit too, hehe
I come by there on the tracks every so often late night / early morning and this area definitely make me nervous. The pure amount of trash is crazy!!
On a train?
@@thatdetroitandy yes, lol
Check out Valserium, He does comparisons between Kei cars
I would watch that all day

what songs playing in the back ground?
What about parts if service is needed?
Someone is going to ls swap one of these things and I probably won't get to see it... Pretty much my only gripe.😂
Where you get parts for it at
Is it legal to drive here in Michigan
Did you have to pay extra for shipping? Or is the total price listed on the website the actual total you'd have to pay to ship it over here?
Shipping is close to 3 thousand
Is it highway rated?
Can you get it automatic?
