    You might’ve covered this in a video, but I learned drink recipes by making flash cards with the name of the drink on one side and the recipe with exact measurements on the other side. It helped me memorize 80 drinks right off the top of my head so now whenever someone asks me for a drink I just immediately visualize the card. No cheat sheets behind the bar or anything

      Yes, perfect way to memorize drinks. In TheRealBarCourse we have two methods to help memorize the drink recipes, including online flashcards. Keep it up.

    Love your videos! i applied for a server position at a bar and grill and have a few years experience in serving but never bartending. at the interview they suddenly offered a bartending position because they were in need and i was nervous as hell but jumped on the opportunity! my first day is monday and i had no idea what to expect but your videos have made me feel more at ease and i’m thinking i’ll rock it! fingers crossed hahaha. Thanks dave!

      You did the most important thing you could do Molly: you jumped on the opportunity. I know servers who spend years serving who want to bartend but never say anything. Excellent job diving head first into your fears and speaking up. It will pay off for you.

    the beginning of this vid resonated with me so much. i've been a server at a corporate restraurant for a few years, started bartending there last year, and always had an opportunity to work at my boyfriend's family's dive bar. i always wanted to, but i was hesitant for a few reasons. recently i had to jump in and take over one shift a week after they fired someone. and it's SO much different than bartending at a corporate place, learning to free pour instead of measuring with jiggers, learning all these new drinks that i don't have a manual to reference, being on my own instead of having a team of servers to help me.. but you really gave me confidence with the things you said here. and i really do thank you for that.

    So i'm a bartender. I came to your channel to brush up on things once i took a bartending job after not bartending for a little over a year.
    this is my third time visiting your channel after already being "back in the swing of things". You just have solid information to be had. Whether it's simple bartending tips (like your 'how to cut lemon twists' video that i never even thought of before and have now showed all the other bartenders i work with') to bar management tips that I like to learn on the prospect that I ever potentially want to run/own a bar in the future.
    This is a good, informative channel for anyone who wants to learn how to work in the service industry, period.

    I did bartending classes for 2 weeks and got the basic mechanics down but I thought I would land a job EASY after gaining that. WRONG! Its challenging to find good paying bars without restaurant experience (They dont give a damnnnn about your bartending certification from the school By the way) I finally had to humble myself and apply at a ghetto Applebees and got hired same day as bartender and heard horrible things about working there but im gonna take this one head on and gain the experience for my next bar. Wish yall the best of luck and thanks Dave forever the helpful content 🙏🏼

    I took a two week bartending school, unfortunately before seeing your videos. I have applied to a handful of interviews, any recommendations for the interviews?

    • @DaveAllredTheRealBarman
      @DaveAllredTheRealBarman  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Nicholas, I do have plenty of recommendations for the interview, but too much to try and explain in the comments section. I have a video on the top 5 interview questions you can check out, and then TheRealBarCourse has an extensive section on interviewing.

    [Accidently deleted my post] Hey Dave, Love your channel and it has helped a lot during my early years bartending. I am however an introvert and there is a huge difference between that and being shy. Maybe you can talk about breaking out of shyness more and not bring a negative view of all introverts? I went on a rant previously but reflecting back, no need. You give great information and I thank you for your hard work.

    • @DaveAllredTheRealBarman
      @DaveAllredTheRealBarman  5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Good point DH. There is a difference between being shy and being introverted. I gotta tell you that when I was younger, I was extremely shy and very introverted. In fact, I'm still introverted in the fact that I need alone time. They say that extroverts gain energy in a crowded room where they can talk and move around, and that a busy room with lots of conversation drains energy from an introvert. I feel that sometimes. I just need to be alone in quiet room. When I get a chance, I will see if I can make a video on this subject for you.
