"What is Love" by Haddaway has become THE shuffle dance track...it's tracked under almost every shuffle dance on video! Would love to hear this for the 60s (Nancy Sinatra, early Beatles), 70s (Carl Douglas "Kung Fu Fighting", Bee Gees!), 80s (B-52s! The Clash!), 00s (Kylie Minogue, Madonna's best), 10s (Psy Gangnam Style!) too.
"Finally" is my favorite by far. I love that dissonant major 7th note that you mentioned, beginning at 14:20. So cool. First time seeing you react. Loved it! Subscribed. You've got to check out Sohyang's performance of "Arirang Alone" from Immortal Songs 2 at th-cam.com/video/zFyndK9VOCk/w-d-xo.html. "Arirang" is a very old Korean folk song with great significance to all of the Korean people. It is sung in Korean, but the video in the link displays English subtitles automatically.
I have to say "Gypsy Woman" By Crystal Waters which was the next snippet to the last song they sung in the medley :) I wish they sang it just a bit longer.
Mine is the switch to, and brief, Everybody Dance Now. What Kevin did with that was insane! Plus, I danced my ass off to that song in the clubs back then. lol
Everyone needs to realize how rare it is to have an authentic counter-tenor in a group, Matt’s fabulous, but sometimes I miss Avi’s basso profundo! Having those timbres in the same group at the same time was miraculous! Matt is wonderful with his lyric bass in today’s PTX-perfect for today’s aesthetic!
Matt is great but while he covers the sound effects/beat excellent as Avi did, he doesn't have that low bass that Avi has. His great singing voice doesn't contrast with the group its up in their range, but it doesn't stand out in the group songs like Avi's did.@@JenniferGlatzhofer
You are the first reactors to mention that crunchie chord in la da dee, la da dow... I get shivers every time. It’s quick but they are so clever aren’t they. And yes that darn èèè sound that can get so easily guttural. I know, I’m French and we have that sound so often, super hard on a high note. Great comments. Thanks. 🤗
Yes, they used the classic autotune on Cher's "Believe" because her use of it on the original was so ground-breaking at the time and has become iconic.
I have watched this reaction a few times and really enjoy your reactions. I find it interesting that all the reactions for pentatonic focuses almost exclusively on the melody voice and don’t get into the meat of what Pentatonix really is. I would love to hear a reaction that focuses on all those crazy vocals the four other members are creating to drive this music forward.
As much as I LOVE Mitch's new cover and would suggest it along with everyone else, I think you'd die for the PTX cover of Kiiara's Gold. I rec you do that one first... Mitch is insane. If you do it, make sure you've heard the original first.
Mitch is an angel and alien. He has so much control through his vocal passages. Effortless. It's like just breathing to him. I was in band/choir in HS and college, took music theory, and took private vocal lessons, and I wish I could afford to do it again. Sadly my vocal ability has diminished.
This medley is PERFECT. This has been playing all summer of 2021 in my car and it was sooooo good. So much fun. Never realized how the 90's was such a fun ride for music. Mitch and Kirstin are the highlitght here.
I am a Pentatonix fan and when I saw a reactor I didn't know was doing "90's Dance Medley" I had to watch and listen. I really enjoyed your reaction and analysis. I don't know much about singing and I'm so bad I don't even sing "Happy Birthday" at family birthday parties, but I think I learned something, maybe a lot from your comments. Thank you. I see a several commenters have suggested "Amazing Grace" and I would strongly agree. I would also love to see you do "Daft Punk" and "Dance of the Sugar Plumb Fairy" (two of their three Grammy's) and "Bohemian Rhapsody". If you have already heard them that doesn't matter. Although a first reaction is great, just having your comments and analysis would be terrific. Thanks again for the great reaction video and I am looking forward to seeing more.
Doh - I’ve listened to this many, many times and never connected the meaning of the bounce around my headphones to the lyric “everywhere” 🤦♀️ Loved the analysis and details, thank you!
I so enjoy your takes on PTX - I think I read another's comment about "1/2 fan girl, 1/2 Subject Matter Expert" - I have to agree, and its riveting. PTX is the bomb, no question. You're approach to express to us WHY they're the bomb - pure entertainment (with a little vocal pedagogy thrown in for good measure!) Thanks for the ride.
Mitchs range is way more that this medley. Please listen to their cover of Kiera’s Gold! It’s live and you can see so many of their colors Also their cover of Havana is epic
Great reaction! As always I love your expert technical analysis! I always love Pentatonix great sound and arrangement, although I must admit that I don't really know a lot of these songs because by the time the 90s rolled around I was mostly listening to my real musical love, which is classical (except for when I am feeling nostalgic and listen to oldies for a bit). In any case, it's another great Pentatonix performance and I will continue to watch for PTX reactions from you! 🙂
If you haven’t looked at them yet, try Home Free, starting with Man of Constant Sorrow, Pentatonix class a capella but with more country flair…with a bass singer with 5+ octave range and vocal percussionist that eats drum sets for breakfast. Both Pentatonix and Home Free you can’t miss with any song they do!
I would recommend you listen to Hallelujah, Sound of Silence and even Bohemian Rhapsody and of course Mary Did You Know. You would appreciate their harmonies as well as their individual sounds. I'll be checking to see that you do so I can see your reaction to what we call Mitch slapped.
Well love PTX but never heard most of those songs in the medley. I still watched it till the end because I loved how much Jennifer enjoyed it, her smile is too contagious. :)
The WEIRDEST part of listening to Pentatonix doing this 90'ies dance medley is that they're so amazingly good and so fun to listen to that even people like myself who absolutely dislike dance music in general and the 90'ies/00's in particular is that I enjoyed this medley as well. Since I liked some of Daft Punks music (selected parts, not the most dancey umph-umph-umph stuff) I absolutely loved (and still do) Pentatonix Daft Punk medley. As a musician I can appreciate just how complex and advanced their arrangements are and how extremely skilled they truly are in order to give us one amazing song/video after another. I'm not into modern pop either but I still enjoy their covers of them as well simply because they sound absolutely amazing and have a tendency to make me drop my jaw. I can't imagine how fun this medley must be for all the people who love all the tracks (17 if I remember correctly) in this medley.
HI Jen, I heard this a few weeks ago and I was one of your subs suggesting Pentatinox and this newer Dance Medley. I was thinking if i can get Jennifer to listen to this , she is going to fall over. (lol) I am pretty sure you liked it. I am sure you grew up with a lot of these songs and you seemed to know a lot of them. Pentatinox is kind of jaw dropping to me. They seem to have a very high level of artistry and they are detailed as you pointed out with their singing techniques and even their videos are well thought out. I am hopeful that we can get you some more members to your channel with this. Pentatinox is really popular on TH-cam and a few more of their songs will bring you some new members. As one of your fans, I enjoyed that you were able to enjoy this with us. This was just brilliant. They are sort of next level with A Capella. I will leave a link to one Pentatinox song. Ready for this? Amazing Grace. Now why would I leave a link to the worlds most boring and over done song ever ? I do not, at all, like or can I even stand listening to Amazing Grace. Well, Pentatinox as usual can take it and twist it into this incredible piece of ear candy art. I shamelessly probably listened to it 10 times. It is insane. See what you think. Thanks Jen, We love you. ( BTW, This has 12.6 million views ) th-cam.com/video/Obp-9BEZe1c/w-d-xo.html
Hi Jenn! Hope life is treating you well and safe. Love, love, love this medley. Thank you for reacting. Every one did justice to this song! Love Mitch and Kirsty's singing in this! Kevin and Matt just kept the beat and came through consistently!
I don't usually comment on videos! But after being in a loop of watching reactions to Pentatonix I stumbled across this video! Great to see a British person reacting!! I saw them live in Manchester twice and fans are few and far between in the UK! Loved your charisma and how you react with your face, so, so enjoyable! Very funny and a great watch, will be subscribing for sure! xx
@@JenniferGlatzhofer I left a comment this morning on your Defying Gravity reaction. Have you seen Mitch and Scott perform it on their Superfruit channel??
And they can sing any genre and it would be easy for them judging how much lecture they put into their career as a a-cappella group being harmonized in perfect pitch gives off the vibe to explore all aligned feature they possess in each song whether being a cover or an original or even a mashup
Also to point out for u guys for those who doesn’t know they are so perfect and spot on with their videos; the creativity, the message, visuals, effects (sometimes 3D), pattern of the vocals that line up perfectly with each transition that being either song-to-song or the background being so naive so frazzled
Great analysis of vocal techniques! Really adds value to a reaction. Would love to here you reaction /analysis to other PTX (even if you’ve heard them before, like the Daft Punk Medley). I don’t know when you stopped listening to them, but they have a some amazing original songs “Happy Now” is my favourite, personally. I’d love to hear your takes on “Imagine” (where you get to here Kevin’s singing more), and “Havana” too.
@@JenniferGlatzhofer loved your reactions to PTX, I'm not sure which PTX song you have already seen, so i have a request that I'm praying you react to. It's for non other then PTX's amazing beatboxer Kevin "KO" Olusola. Its just him, in his home studio, singing, beatboxing and making music with his looper, this Man is a Beast. In my view he is the most talented member of the group. I'm not taking away anything from Scott, Mitch, Kirsty, or Matt and Avi, but here's the low down on Kev. At age 5 he started to play a songs from the radio on a toy keyboard his dad bought for him on X-Mass, 3 days after he opened it ...by ear alone. His dad saw his gift and automatically put him in professional lessons for Piano but Kev also wanted more pro lessons as the years went on, and by the age of 10 he was being taught professionally on the Piano, Saxophone and Cello. The Cello was his main instrument but he is classically taught on all 3 instruments and has preformed in Carnegie Hall twice as a soloist, once for Sax and the other Cello and that's before he was 17. He is the first person to invent and master Cello boxing, mixing classical Cello and urban hip hop beatboxing together. He's also a writer and brilliant music producer. He has also gotten his degree in Pre-Med and Asian Studies from Princeton and speaks perfect Mandarin Chinese, all this before the age of 21. When he finally met Scott and the other members of PTX to audition for The Sing Off on NBC they had only been a group for one day. I suggest you react to Kevin's cover of "Down" by Marian Hill th-cam.com/video/IGjg193h4Ok/w-d-xo.html and my other fav is Kevin's remake of "Sign of the Times" by Harry Styles th-cam.com/video/hBFlhLEU7uU/w-d-xo.html You will blow your mind watching these. trust me and enjoy. I know I'll enjoy seeing you react to them. Thank You & Peace.
It still boggles my mind that we have a group like PTX who, apart from their individual tremendous vocal talent and skill, work together so well. The magic in their music is in the superb arrangements. Other acappella powerhouse groups like Voctave, with their arranger Jamie Ray, are also giften in this regard. They're all awesome, but yes, Mitch's counter-tenor is otherworldly.
Hi Jennifer! New listener here to your channel and I am very impressed by your breakdowns! You truly have the vocal knowledge and ability to dissect things that even other trained singers might not recognize. I listened to three or four people's breakdowns of some of Pentatonix's songs and yours were, by far, the most technical and informative and gave the most insight into not only how the singers were singing, but the different techniques they use and the varied uses of pitch, tone, placement, etc. You are really fun to listen to and I'm an instant subscriber to your channel! I am also a musical theater performer and have performed in several local community theaters in productions such as Godspell (Jesus), Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (Reuben), Oklahoma (Jud), Disney's Tarzan (Kerchak), Spamalot (Sir Robin), and Disney's Beauty and the Beast (Beast). My voice is a gift as I have only had two years of vocal instruction when I was in college in the early 90's. That's one of the reasons why I love your breakdowns. I can hear the things you mention about the voices and I can relate to how I might have sung that and then I listen and try to match what you've discussed and it always seems to make sense and makes it easier to sing something - so thank you! I feel like I'm getting almost free vocal instruction from you via your breakdowns! You rock! I always wonder if I could have made it on Broadway and it's sometimes fun to think about that. People tell me that I'm good enough to be there but that's a very subjective thing, as you know. For now, I'll continue to have fun singing as a side thing and continue to perform in community theater productions. Thanks again and I look forward to more of your breakdowns! I love PTX so I've really enjoyed these! Cheers! - Dave
Kevin Osceola has a video of him doing a single composing and playing a electric piano and beatboxing .singing and other instruments. And electric cello.must watch.🤗
I Love this sooo much, when Mitches Voice Shocks you, your Reaktion is soo cool fun and Amazing, i Love what your doing. (sorry for my english, im German)
I'd love to hear your reaction to their original, "Happy Now". And you have such a beautiful voice was hoping to hear more of your beautiful singing. Please?
4:32 That Mitch Slap left you tunge-tied in and very confused. Loved it I live for watching people go through that, and to think that's the register he uses for the "guitar" solo in the Rhapsody cover. when they sung "can't you feel your heart beat fast" Kirstin got you too, you are now Khristened into the pentaholic fold. To think that Kevin and Matt do constant vocal acrobatics carries throughout the whole song(s). Matt's lyrical bass, I think they added auto-tune to commemorate Cher who was the first to use it. Your perfect pitch is something you don't talk about, but it makes it so that I enjoy your reactions/analysis. Did you like how they ended on Finally?
Thanks for covering this one, Jennifer! Hope we hear more PTX reactions soon - they just released a killer album of original songs as well as a stunning cover of "Amazing Grace" that is not to be missed. Have to disagree with you about Mitch Grassi, though, actually his voice is pretty mediocre for residents of his planet - seriously, no human being should be able to have the incredible tone and control of the human voice that Mitch makes look so easy (I know it isn't - that's what I tell myself so go with it). Have a great day!
Hi Jennifer..I’ve just found your channel I’ve liked and subscribed straight away~ just wondered if you’ve listened to amazing grace. Or daft punk by pentatonic ~ have a great rest of the week and weekend ~ Xxx
Depends what you mean by dance music though. In Goth clubs they'd swing dance to The Cult. In gay clubs they'd slow dance to Celine or ABC or Sade. In punk clubs it was skinner bop to ska and dub and spaz out to Planet Claire (B-52s). In Jamaican clubs theyd grind to dancehall, reggae and rap. In metal and industrial clubs they'd mosh to Rammstein, Metallica, Bootsauce and Skinny Puppy. It's endless. In Lindy Hop and Tango class, another whole list of tracks... Heck everything in dance music.
Awesome reaction/analysis, please react to Voiceplay which is another a Capella group, I think you’d love it specially “The little mermaid medley”, “My mother told me”. Cheers!
Yay!! :D I've been waiting for the Pentatonix one after I saw someone requested it :D Have you by any chance listened to The Real Group? They're from Sweden, and are like the old school Pentatonix.
I don't know if you have an editor or if you do the editing, but whoever it is, got some real simple but funny bits like mirroring the screen and super zooms. Good stuff
1.Please react to Voctave , Disney Love Medley featuring Kirsten Maldonado from Pentatonix 2. Morissette with 3rd Avenue cover of “Rise Up” Acapella version! 3. Morissette from her home musicals: “She Used to be Mine” (Waitress) and “ Defying Gravity “ (Wicked). Thanks 🤙🏽🤙🏽
But ya another follow-up so in order from top to bottom; mitch is a counter-tenor or if u wanna use JUST tenor u can do that also it’s more counter-tenor because of the ranges he has + voice, Kristin or what I call her and some other peeps call her kirstie she is a soprano, scott is the baritone, matt is the bass (new+current) replacing avi (original bass), and kevin or my prefer- nickname (kev) is the beatboxer of the group so basically he’s a real life drum-kit + kickstand or at other times he will turn into a acid drip with those sound effects lol smh man but ya he also has incredible flow and technique to his philosophical beats, matt as the bass really addresses the low-proximity drag he has with his voice not to mention richness and raspy with a dash of wit in there he also has the range for most basses would dreamt of hitting or being able to drop down to a specific note meaning A2-D7 or so in that column
Good video! I imagine you get quite a lot of requests but if you haven’t already, I highly recommend exploring BTS’s work, Their tiny desk performance is magical, their voices are incredible individually and even better together, plus they are the hottest thing at the moment!!! :))))
Like I will explain anything u guys have questions to just hmu on here but most times I will be far to busy on social media either advertising or selling off a brand basically or either in life (general) but sometimes I will reply or respond to do a follow-up on ur guys questions if u have any on pentatonix or anything really

@@JenniferGlatzhofer Yes, you should. It is fantastic and hilarious. And I understand Mitch went even higher than the original arrangement?
thank you for this Jennifer ... you have made my day ... love the analysis ...
Thank you!
And they can sing any genre and it would be easy for them judging how much lecture they put into their career as a a-cappella group being harmonized in perfect pitch gives off the vibe to explore all aligned feature they possess in each song whether being a cover or an original or even a mashup
Please react to Pentatonix singing “Be My Eyes” Kirsty is amazing!!
Would love to here you reaction /analysis to other PTX (even if you’ve heard them before, like the Daft
Punk Medley). I don’t know when you stopped listening to them, but they have a some amazing original songs “Happy Now” is my favourite, personally. I’d love to hear your takes on “Imagine” (where you get to here Kevin’s singing more), and “Havana” too.
Amazing, thank you for the suggestions 😊
Thank You
&
Peace.
Great reaction, have you watched or heard the wizard of Ahhhs? They did such a great job.
Wow! Wow! Wow! That was Fabulous, and Fun!!
Loved your reaction! Thanks for the fun!
Thank you for watching!!
I had so much with this reaction!!! As always Jenn so unique ❤
Thank you!! 😊
For the record, Pentatonix has Ben Bram as the "sixth member" - and arranger. He doesn't sing but helps frame out the way their voices fill the space.
Cheers! - Dave
Have you seen the video of their original "Run to You"? My fave.
Ooh I’ll give it a watch!
I’m 39. It is awesome.
Please?
I love your reactions Great Job! 👍🏾
Thank you! 😁
Yes I do have to say Matt's checkerd jacket is pretty fly ❕❗ lol
An ad played while watching this. It was an entire video for Ra Ra Rasputin. No artist credited. Couldn't not watch it!
Scott does a lot of those Michael Jackson-esque breath things.
Ah yes!! It is very Michael Jackson-esque! Thanks for pointing that out 😊
Leprous - Castaway angels. CMON!
What a fun reaction!
Great reaction, they are something else aren't they? I feel so fortunate to have grown up in this era! Pure nostalgic trip for me :) Subbed anyway
Love your reactions. The best on youtube!!!
About the Range: please react the "Ring of fire"-Cover from the Groupe HOME FREE. The Range goes in the other Direction!
Hi Jennifer..I’ve just found your channel I’ve liked and subscribed straight away~ just wondered if you’ve listened to amazing grace. Or daft punk by pentatonic ~ have a great rest of the week and weekend ~ Xxx
Thank you!!! And yes I have!! 😁😁
if you like sonic dissonance, might I suggest their original from 2015 called "Run To You" it is a masterpiece in my opinion.
Ah thank you! 😊 I’ll have a listen
You should listen to their, can you feel the kove tonight. If hou havent yet
Very true!!
Please react to Mitch covering Your Power by Billie Eilish next ❤️
Thank you!
Awesome reaction/analysis, please react to Voiceplay which is another a Capella group, I think you’d love it specially “The little mermaid medley”, “My mother told me”. Cheers!
Thank you! And amazing, I’ll add to the list!! 😊
Great reaction
Thank you!! 😁😁
I wouldn’t talk about how 90s were. If you were born earlier than 1983. Hindsight. But if you were not born. Different time.
Your reaction is so nice and rich in details. I'd like to suggest you to react a Brazilian singer Gabriel Henrique. He's amazing!!! Tks
Thank you!!! On the list 😊
Yay!! :D I've been waiting for the Pentatonix one after I saw someone requested it :D
Have you by any chance listened to The Real Group? They're from Sweden, and are like the old school Pentatonix.
Thank you!!! Ooh I haven’t!! I’ll check them out 😁
I don't know if you have an editor or if you do the editing, but whoever it is, got some real simple but funny bits like mirroring the screen and super zooms. Good stuff
Aw thank you!! I edit all my videos so thank you!😊
1.Please react to Voctave , Disney Love Medley featuring Kirsten Maldonado from Pentatonix
2. Morissette with 3rd Avenue cover of “Rise Up” Acapella version!
3. Morissette from her home musicals: “She Used to be Mine” (Waitress) and “ Defying Gravity “ (Wicked). Thanks 🤙🏽🤙🏽
Thank you, all on the list! 😁
I'm surprised you didn't recognise the auto-tune right away (Believe) , you're a vocal coach!
Kirstie has had classical training and was in a musical.
Pentatonix latest video " Kid on Christmas ft Meghan Trainor". Not
a capella, kinda retro and excellent!
Check Mitch's cover of Your Power by Billie Elilsh
I’ll pop it on the list, thank you!
React please to there The Sound of Silence
Good video! I imagine you get quite a lot of requests but if you haven’t already, I highly recommend exploring BTS’s work, Their tiny desk performance is magical, their voices are incredible individually and even better together, plus they are the hottest thing at the moment!!! :))))
Mitch is better than all of us d
I don't know if you're still reading comments from this long ago, but I'm encouraging you to please react to PTX Bohemian Rhapsody. :)
Réaction morten harket 🥰
Every reactor - "OMG they're using autotune! THEY'RE USING AUTOTU......oh it's Cher I get it."
If you are in your early 20s. Missing out on the whole thing.
Like I will explain anything u guys have questions to just hmu on here but most times I will be far to busy on social media either advertising or selling off a brand basically or either in life (general) but sometimes I will reply or respond to do a follow-up on ur guys questions if u have any on pentatonix or anything really

Hello Jen, just stumbled across your channel and really enjoy how you deconstruct these song performances. Would you be open to reacting to another a Capella group I don't think you've reacted to yet? With summer coming consider reacting to Home Free's cover of the Justin Timberlake song "Can't Stop The Feeling! (Official Video)"
Love that song!! On the list 😁 thank you!
How do you feel about lavender
Hello
I do not know if she will accept the offer for reaction or not, but I suggest you react to (mano Beshnas Official Video (Farzad Farzin & 40 Iranian Singers))
