Cher used auto-tune for the original...so it was totally in keeping for them to include it...as a tribute.

You're correct - the autotune was used only for the effect, and only then to remain true to the original song by Cher.

It was Believe by Cher that was the first use of autotune in a major song.

Yay. I'm so happy that you reacted to this. It's been a while since your last PTX reaction. Your stunned disbelief was so fun to watch. PTX never disappoints. I hope that you'll do another one soon. Their rendition of "Amazing Grace" is stunning. As is their cover of Elton John's "Can You Feel The Love Tonight?" For something more upbeat, "Coffee In Bed", an original song off their newest album is really good. ❤️

The reason it sounds like there's an instrument behind it is because Kevin's percussion sounds are on multiple tracks because one mouth can only do so many sounds at once.
But it's still technically only his voice.

You have to hear their new album 'The Lucky Ones.' All original works, written by them - and they're stunning, proving they're just as talented at writing their own material as covering others. Highlights include 'Coffee In Bed,' 'Love Me When I Don't,' 'A Little Space' and...oh, heck, there are no duff ones on there. Even if you don't do reactions to them, you won't regret putting it on your playlist to listen to.

There is a 6th very important member that pretty much helped to get Avi and Kevin to join the trio to compete on the sing off. If you end up doing the sing off series anytime make sure to use mrduckbear11 videos bc you'll get to see them arranging the songs, performing them and the judges reaction. Its how they started out. Ben Bram arranges all of their songs (with their input of course and is brilliant on the level of savant in my opinion. He doesn't get the credit he deserves.

For more great a capella, you should check out Home Free and Voice Play. Both easily on a level with Pentatonix when it comes to voices, harmonies and musical skill. Each of the three have their own distinct style, all are fabulous. A good start for Home Free would be Man of Constant Sorrow, End of the Road, In the Blood, The Butts Medley, Sea Shanty Medley. For Voice Play - Eleanor Rigby, Warriors, Carry On, Wayward Son, Butter (yes, they covered BTS!). BTW, Geoff Castellucci (the bass you reacted to in Sixteen Tons) is the bass for Voice Play.

  • @larrywt656
    @larrywt656 3 ปีที่แล้ว +13

It's interesting how you said that an album with full versions of these songs would be really good, because I think that's exactly what they're planning! There are 17 songs in this medley...the perfect number of songs for an album. This song was released completely by surprise with little or no advance promotion. Even the most ardent Pentaholics had no idea they had even recorded this. They've made it known that they are now back together and busy working in the studio, but have been VERY secretive about what they're working on! An album of full versions of these songs would be outstanding! Congratulations on noticing that they were using autotune for effect, because that is exactly what they did as a tribute to Cher, who was the first artist to use autotune as an artistic effect instead of a corrective measure on that very song Believe! That's why it was called "The Cher Effect" back in the day.

Yes long time no see. Thank you thank you thank you for doing another Pentatonix arrangement. I really hope that you We'll go down the rabbit hole of their catalog. Pentatonix never does anything studio that they cannot reproduce live. Since you've heard hallelujah I suggest you listen to the live version from a Christmas special. You'll see that they sound exactly The same and it shows that they do not use any backing tracks or Auto 2Or whatever else is done The singers voice to make it better than it is You know what I'm talking about. Powerful message That is still applicable today then please do Imagine. They take the song John Lennon wrote decades ago And put the Pentatonix touch on it And they deliver a very powerful message to go with the song. Also you get do you hear what is called the wall of sound in their harmonies. Since you saw hallelujah I would watch amazing grace. For a video similar in style and editing That was done for dsf punk react to love again which is and original. Just keep the Pentatonix coming and the fans will flock to you.

In general I am not able to like medleys, because I can hear that it is an assembly of different songs stuck together. So for me it sometimes feels like incoherence, because the lines are always changing (hop step and jump). Shame on me !
Because it was just Soul who came with a medley of PTX in a new video, I took all my time to listen to his impressions.
I must say that they persuaded me of changing my view..
The artistic qualities of PTX are of a very high level. What the Berliner Philharmoniker means for the classical orchestra music, PTX is standing for the a capella music. Describing their gifts is beyond my abilities.
In order to know if I had not become a little too sectarian around PTX I listened to performances of some other wellknown a capella groups, but PTX have won.
My thanks to Soul. I admire his way of presenting songs and singers, and thanks to him I now know some other singers.
I have decided to publish the video of Soul on my facebook page, where my name is Ank Langeveld.

This is 5+ minutes of pure joy for me! Two other fabulous a cappella groups' mashups are Home Free "Butts Remix" (don't worry, it's tasteful): th-cam.com/video/IA0WCc3vTls/w-d-xo.html and VoicePlay's "Boy Bands in 5 minutes": th-cam.com/video/uJ5tXYYftmw/w-d-xo.html

Only just found your PTX reactions and see that you stopped reacting to them. That's too bad because they have so much that you've not heard yet and thousands of fans who would come watch. You've had a ton of suggestions of what to watch next, so I'll not add to the already long list. Please react to more PTX. Oh, and if you were having problems with blocking, try changing the video to be transparent. Also, their Evolution videos or their live concerts like Popspring 2016 don't seem to get blocked as much. And a little secret is that they are so good live that it's almost better to watch those gems instead of the official video that may get blocked.

Watch, The making of EVERGREEN. You will see their process. They did 14 tracks in 14 days. NO AUTOTUNE

The irony is the auto tune is only there to emphasize the original user and queen of Autotunes songs, Cher.

Great reaction to wonderful medley. Thank you!
One of Pentatonix' competitors in acapella music is Home Free. That group also has five members, but all men. They have a country bent, but perform in many genres. Since you are a songwriter you might really like their collaboration with Don Maclean, celebrating the 50th anniversary of _American Pie._ See: th-cam.com/video/9RlTZdYXcKg/w-d-xo.html
