I learned a lot from the extensive historical knowledge from your friend Dominik. Very interesting video Kerry. Nice to see the history behind the Bermuda Triangle in this city of Poland
Nice guided tour through the city of Wroclaw! Beautiful buildings with awesome architecture and rich history! Thanks for sharing and many thanks to your guide Dominic! Highly recommended for tourists!
Hi, TAG, Your videos are very informative & interesting thank you, i have a young female polish carer from wroclaw, she is a very kind & friendly & caring person and it's been good for me to learn about where she's from.
Huge thanks to Dominik for showing you around. With his historical knowledge and very good knowledge of English, he should think about opening his own youtube channel. I can see future in that :) I live near this area for long time. Back then there were a lot of poor people living there, so theft was a common occurrence. If you went out at night with a brand new cellphone, or on a nice bike you could pretty much say goodbye to it :)
Steven Spielberg shot "Bridge of Spies" in Wrocław, but in a completely different part of the city, only one scene was shot at 15 Miernicza Street. On the other hand, Miernicza Street, shown in this video, hosts film crews quite often and Wroclaw pretends to be a pre-war Berlin or another German city - the German inscriptions on the walls are more remnants of the film set design than the effect of conservation work, especially since these are the names of shops "Backerei" (bakery) or "Lebensmittel" (groceries). These old houses after renovation look beautiful, but outside only. They were built at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries - apartments were often built without bathrooms, and toilets were common to all apartments on the floor. Flats or, to be more precise, rooms were heated with coal-fired tile stoves. After World War II, these houses became the property of the state. Because the city was destroyed in 70%, the apartments were missing, so 2 or 3 families were accommodated in larger apartments. Over time, more resourceful families moved to new apartments with bathrooms and central heating, and in the "Bermuda Triangle" there were less resourceful families, sometimes pathological and burdened with hereditary crime. The state did not care for these houses, did not renovate them and did not invest in them, now the city is the owner, which started renovations, but the "triangle" is only one of several such parts of the city. And there is no money for a comprehensive renovation also inside - after all, in other districts it is not the city, but the tenants themselves who contribute to the renovation of their houses. Bridge of Spies was shot by Spielberg on Miernicza Street (among others) This old signage is from pre WW2. You can find an interview on Gazeta Wrocławska with the conservator who restored them.
@@dominik36127 Steven Spielberg shot at ul. Kurkowa and Ptasia (+/-Nadodrze) - that was the main location in Wrocław, he shot only one scene at Miernicza. Also, the scenery didn't recreate pre-war Berlin as you said in the video, but Berlin in the 1960s (after the wall was built).
@@thomasturski2837 i do not really understand what are you trying to say. "He did not shot at Miernicza" but "he shot only one scene at Miernicza"? How many scenes shuld he do there for you to be Ok with mentioning him? :)
@@dominik36127 You understand perfectly. I only see that you make up for your ignorance with insolence - you put together two quotes (supposedly mine), one of which is false, because I did not use such words. I've lived in Wrocław all my life and I remember Steven Spielberg's stay in Wrocław, which part of the city was closed to people outside the film crew and where the shooting took place. Today I found out that he also shot a scene on Miernicza - I put a correction in my post.
My old neighborhood! I really hope that townhouse with lady (you can actually saw this lady on graffiti from beginning of clip) will be renovated, as I admired architecture each day passing this place in my way to shool.
in official statistics of EU like bulgary, safety, or general crime. Poland is currently located close to Switzerland, totally opposite dangerous country's like France or UK
People, come to your senses. We have passed the. coronavirus, and now they are just laughing at us, and we are giving in and helping Ukraine that is empty that in which pours anger to ourselves and we kill ourselves, it is necessary to stop deliveries and all who are in Ukraine is a part of mercenaries who for money, money is normal, reminds as a bone of a dog. Let's live amicably, without ponts, without aggression. In Ukraine, many people are not ready to fight, some of them left, namely the well-off and who had time to take care of, and the state does not care, the place of what to conduct a world truce, and the deputies, namely the government pressures the people save pension savings and goes into other pockets, and you and I not to solve military problems, we should refuse military aid and money, because Zelensky is an actor, not a president, he does not feel sorry for people, and leads a game where everyone is tied and he will get money and those countries that are tied in this will get money, but the people will remain poor, as an example in Russia. If a person does not want war, he will be hated, why? Because history has been changed in America and people have changed their views, and no one is going to understand. Wouldn't it be better if there was no one left? We do not live in the Stone Age, but we are being led to improve technology and forget about humanity, and we with our silence and reasoning get rid of problems, where they pay a lot of money and solve these problems at the peace table (politicians and government). Namely, we refuse to live in peace, and signed up for it, and humanity will be reduced to find an easier way out to save on people and manage and provide pleasure for the rich and the lack of inconvenience in this is the war with Ukraine. And sons, grandchildren will ask you and you will say killed people. Aggression is necessary to make money for politicians, to lead fines for refusal to go to war with Ukrainians. Although many people have left Ukraine, namely the sensible ones. And about the war, they were prepared in advance to start a war with Russia, from the moment when the tanks were at the moment when people needed help, they thought that they should not communicate and refused peaceful dialog, in advance in Ukraine the president of Ukraine thought about provocation. It is difficult time to prove or explain to someone, if you do not understand that life is given to live peacefully and forget about the problems that you have invented yourself. Don't you want to live like this before, to travel, because it is possible to establish relations in terms of economy for poor people who do not have the opportunity to go abroad .I wish everyone health happiness and love.
The area name is Przedmieście Oławskie. We started on the corner of Pułaskiego and Kosciuski Street. Then, we moved along Kościuszki and turned into Prądzyńskiego. Later, we visited Miernicza and returned towards the city center via Traugutta.
the was a load of 'bermuda triangels' in all major cities in poland. im livin in one in toruń. 1990 good times. 😅 we wszystkich większych miastach w polsce było mnóstwo „trójkątów bermudzkich”. mieszkam w jednym w toruniu 1990 dobre czasy.
I was actually robbed on bermuda triangle back in 1993 if I remember correctly. Some thug forcefully took my Sony walkman and hit me in the face. It ended up in the court of law but they couldn't do much as the guy was already in prison for another offence :) The place is nothing like it was back in '90s, full of shady people and drug dealers.
Lviv is not the second largest city in Ukraine. It was 6th or 7th in 2021. Right now because of russian invasion Lviv accommodated a lot of refugees and Estern cities lost a lot of population. So, maybe Lviv is 3rd or 4th right now.
